Gundam 00 animators and director put so much emphasis on how the GN Drive looks/works to the point it had a whole wiki on how it could possibly function complete with explanation and made up jargon. It is quite literally one of the main plot points in the series so to no surprise, they put extra love and detail into the GN Drives. Aerial's main weapon on the other hand were the GUND bits so it is where the budget went into.

It's Kenji Kawai, baby! The man has a long pedigree with science fiction anime, like Patlabor, the 1995 Ghost In The Shell movie, and various Ultraman shows.
Gundam 00 is still my favorite all arounder. It did a lot right. Setsuna is such a great character as well as Tieria. It relates to our world with the conflicts and propaganda etc. A tale of the ages

Gundam Aerial not only ref like unicorn since everyone have already know Aerial have alot of different Gundam reference that combined into 1 (aerial) 00 Gundam, unicorn, design colour similar to 1st generation Gundam and other MS.. if you notice it
00 had more emotional impact considering so much lead up to that first launch. The stakes were EXTREMELY high and you felt it. Aerial was good and things were tense but it couldve use more time building up the situation. Things just moved too fast and next thing you know shes in it.

I do like something different but honestly I think even build fighters did a good job building up emotions and etc till the striker got demolished then rebuild as a better suit samething goes for fighters try and some other series idk witch from mercy is a mix between like every single series except it’s less political, watching the prologue it made me feel upset bc they just killed a whole company/organization bc people were dying yet THOSE people may have volunteered to help which just doesn’t make sense couldnt they just say “hey we are sorry but we no longer want this to continue we’ve sacrificed ENOUGH lives for the sake of this project” but welp
Eh to be fair, they're two different situations here with very different storytelling emphasis. The 00 Gundam was the center of Season 2 episode 2 by all accounts, and indeed nearly a third of the episode was spent to simply getting Setsuna there and getting the temperamental Twin Drive System working. Meanwhile Aerial isn't really treated to the same center of attention since most of the episode revolves around the other character happenings, and there's no need for Suletta to be shown trying to fiddle with the Aerial to get it working. I do indeed prefer the 00 Gundam launch to the Aerial, but by no means was Aerial's launch scene bad nor need more "build up" imho, since most of the build up was on Suletta's side and putting her in the mindset to actually pilot Aerial in a non-dueling context. Contrast to Setsuna, who we know will pilot the 00 Gundam to kill, and thus the question is more whether the 00 will even work at all.
The difference in animation quality is honestly staggering, even with 00’s top notch animations. You go from good to GREAT and it’s just so nice to look at
It’s more like a combination of 00 Gundam and Unicorn Gundam if you ask me. Unicorn flew straight into the Kshatriya to get it out of the colony. Aerial did the same thing with Lfrith Ur.
This is one of those rare occasions where I like to see more of what's going on. Normally I prefer a BDH moment to come with as little warning as possible. Eg, Cap's entrance in Infinity War. But trying to get 00 to do something, anything, under a time crunch. It just worked

Pretty sure every single series to date besides iron blooded had some sort of remote controlled weapon unless you count the tail blade on the Lupus rex
If you mean a series not having funnel weapons...it's been a while since you've watched this, haven't you Alvaaron and Zwei had Fangs in Season 1 Then damn near every important suit had them in Season 2 Cherudim's Shield Bits, which were pushed to the limit in a certain episode. Then it got dedicated funnel weapons with Rifle Bits Seravee had an entire second Gundam on its back that could be activated even in death Arche, Gaddess, Regnant and Reborns all had Fangs of some sort All of the Gundam Meisters are rocking bit weapons in the movie and then you have the Gadelaza, which had over 100 Fangs, some of them even being containers for smaller Fangs
I find it fitting that I ran into this considering I just rewatched all of 00 and then found out witch of mercury’s second half started like literally two days ago.
@@GenJuhru which is kinda my issue with gn drive over permet. permet is purely informational communication to a quantum level, which can cause things to weirdly manifest, ghost in some uncertain matrix beyond what is known. But that is its primary thing, permet isn't the source of literally everything else.

Wow! That was sick i never know that anime even though i was born on 2007, but this animation this was so cool!! And also i'm starting now to watch its movie on my phone.
Forget the gundam, for me both have amazing animation even tho context wise 00 still superior. The thing I notice is, the mouth animation in Gwitch it's so good.. y'know the animation is smooth when it's tickle your brain
I have to say the Aerial launching scene resemble the RX-O Unicorn launching scene more than the OO launching Scene. Lot’s plot though, such as hangar 78.😂
Personally i like the first launch of the Strike Freedom the most, but here i'd have to say 00 did it better because you had the building suspense of them trying to get the dual drive running.
I will continue to say, they only good thing about witch from mercury is the sound design and music. Also the Freedom’s first launch remains my favorite.
WfM is a mix of things already saw i other Gundam products. There is nothing new. Just WfM is not a Good series due to poor writing and non interesting characters. And the mecha design is not that great too
Tbh I feel like they mixed the gundam 00 launch sequence with Unicorn gundam's first "unofficial sortie" against the Kshatriya as seen by the "extra thrusters to push back the enemy suit and out of the station into the open vast of space"
100%. I read somewhere that 00 was the most expensive Gundam series to produce (I don't know if it meant even including the recent series or the series that came before it). The animation is still quite very impressive I think owing to the fact that it was the first Gundam series to jump to high definition.
i feel like the scene in witch from mercury shown is more of a nod to the first launch in Unicorn, not exact in framing, but same general feel and scene
I mean Aerial does look better visually, more dynamic camera angles and stuff, more effects and "impact" in the movements. But it's been 14 years gap and the show was a lot smaller (24 episodes vs. 50 episodes), so I think they just had better tech and more budget given the time period. That being said being 12 years old Gundam 00 still looks pretty damn good.

Witch is way more dishonest however, but to be fair no anime studio is willing to go all out on mecha anymore including Sunrise.

The animation is still quite very impressive I think owing to the fact that it was the first Gundam series to jump to high definition.
i feel like the scene in witch from mercury shown is more of a nod to the first launch in Unicorn, not exact in framing, but same general feel and scene
I mean Aerial does look better visually, more dynamic camera angles and stuff, more effects and "impact" in the movements. But it's been 14 years gap and the show was a lot smaller (24 episodes vs. 50 episodes), so I think they just had better tech and more budget given the time period. That being said being 12 years old Gundam 00 still looks pretty damn good.
