- So you've never flown via Seoul but now you are. You're curious, perhaps nervous, about how to transfer / transit at Seoul ICN. Fear not. This video will quickly walk you through the full transfer experience.
Thanks for sharing this video! Next month I will also head for Thailand but for Chiang Mai. Same to you, I need to transfer in Incheon Airport T2. These days I'm kind of confused how to transfer there. And now, I'm clear about this. Your video is really helpful!
Thankyou and enjoy Thailand, my fav destination
Re-post in case others had same question about luggage.
Context: I'm traveling on Air Canada and long Layover in Incheon and swapping airlines to Asiana airlines and was wondering if I'd need to go out and claim my baggage to check in the next airline.
Air Canada rep said if the transfer is international then it'll go direct to the final destination. *whew*
FYI if the transfer was domestic then you would have to go out and recheck your bags.
Thank you so much for sharing this info ….
Thanks for this useful video. How long did u take for the transfer process? My flight will have only 1.30 hours layover time. Is that enough or too short?
More than enough. 30 min.
hello, I have a transfer time of 15 hours to Japan via South Korea, I want to enter Korea and see a little bit, but keta confirmation
Hello how about transfer from terminal 1 going to terminal 2 . I will arrived 6:55 am and flight 7:45 am do you think I can catch the transfer?
It's a small airport - I think you'll be fine. Call your airline too.
i heard that there are free lounges there at the airport. where exactly do i have to go to you know, access the free lounge there coz i don't have the money to pay for the paid lounges at the airport
Hey cool question. Do you see at 0:57 where it says Transfer Lounge? Take another escalator up there. If you're not allowed inside L Lounge, then just relax outside the Lounge in a nassive open seating area where you can relax, nap, and use the restroom.
@@CalifornianWayfarer that's really great, thank you!!
There is no Keta approval, will it be a problem if we go out of the airport during the transfer, do we have the opportunity to go out?
If you're leaving the airside of the airport (to go out) you will need a transit visa or KETA based on your country of citizenship. Look up the rules on legal websites.
Hey, thanks for the video. I doubt you'll swe fhis in time but i have a flight from Manchester England to Amsterdam to ICN and then i have a seperate ticket flight from ICN to Nagoya Japan. Does this mean I have ro gi through arrivals and not transfers? Because i technically have to collext my baggage and re check in?
It's my first solo flight and transfer/long flight so im worried. Also only have 1h45 minutes from arrving to departure 😅do you think itll take long to get my bags, find the check in, and check in again?
If you're flying the same airline both times, you might just have to transfer. If you've been told you need to collect and recheck your baggage, then yes you'll have to allocate some time. It's a tiny airport, so you should be fine in either case. There are a lot of staff walking around helping travelers in the hallways. Seek their help, they'll expedite your process.
Flying Korean Air all the way through.
Pdx, layover Korea, final destination SGN. My layover is only 45 mins. Is that too short to go through Transfer?
Should be fine. Your airline rep will likely meet you with a sign as you exit the jetway, and take you in a buggy to security and to your gate. Rule of thumb -- if an airline has sold you an itinerary, they have estimated that you have enough time to make it.
@@CalifornianWayfarer Thanks that is what I kind of figured. The airline knows it’s not my final destination and have to go through transfer process. But sometimes you never know! Luckily it’s same airline so I don’t have to get my baggage. :)
Hi,did you need a k-eta or qr code if your just transferring/layover? Thanks in advance!
Not needed for transit/ layover
Also do you need q code?sorry to ask
@@marky1470 I needed nothing. What is the QR code for? Covid vacc record? I have my vacc QR code from the Sate of California but I don't remember anyone asking for it in Seoul ICN. I don't even remember going through immigration at the airport but I might have. I only remember landing and going to the transfer hall for security xray.
I have a flight from Seattle then connecting to Phuket but my layover is only 50min will I make it? It’s one ticket on Korean. Thanks!
Should be fine it's a small airport
I have a connecting flight from Tokyo to ICN to Chicago -- what does that process look like. Do I just get off the plane and go to my next gate since it is a transfer flight with a 12 hour layover?
Yes, exactly the same scenario as my video
Im going to Hanoi in the summer, my layover 1hr 50 min in incheoun , will that be enough time to go look for my gate. I’m pretty nervous.
Yes, it's a small airport
Hi, thanks for the great video. Would you happen to know how luggage claim works if we are transferring from Air Canada to Asiana Airlines from the ICN Airport?
Unless these airlines have interline agreements meant to make the transition of luggage ownership easier, you will need to claim luggage and re-check. It appears these airlines have a partnership. You must call one or both airlines to verify if your baggage will be checked through to the next airline.
@Californian Wayfarer I'll give them a shout. Thanks for looking into that for me. I was more curious if you saw a baggage pickup area during the transit route or if they would need to go out, check them back in and then reenter. I'll probably try and ask air canada though! Thanks again.
I just wanted to post here for anyone else. Air Canada rep said if the transfer is international then it'll go direct to the final destination. *whew*
FYI if the transfer was domestic then you would have to go out and recheck your bags.
@simw4273 I have never seen a baggage claim/pickup area just for transfers for any airline. So if a transfer passenger has to go downstairs to claim luggage, they'll first need to clear customs and immigration, which would pose a problem for many passengers as they might need a transit visa if their country is not allowed visa free entry to the country where they are transferring. I made a video on Tokyo Narita to Haneda transfer where it became clear from viewer comments that a transit visa would be required if the passenger's home nation is not allowed visa free entry into Japan. If the transfer were within the same airport, no transit visa would be required. But Narita to Haneda necessitates leaving the airport, taking a special bus and going into the country to get to the other airport.
@simw4273 this is good news, you can post this as a standalone comment so viewers can see it immediately. I'm curious whether your reservation does not already state the luggage transfer procedure. Check your online reservation and see if it's mentioned. I'll be surprised if every passenger has to call Air Canada to check regarding luggage for an itinerary such as yours.
Also i will be heading to Da Nang, is that terminal 1 or 2
Why do we go through security to transfer, if we went thru it before we boarded? Just curious. Also do we just show passport??
Every airport everywhere in the world will make you go through security regardless of whether you went through security at the earlier Airport and yes only passport
I will be going through this airport and my layover is one hour to get to my second plane. Is hour enough time to do it? Will appreciate any replay. Thank you in advance
You'll have enough time
@@CalifornianWayfarer Thank you!!
Hello,
Are you need to fill out Q-code and K-eat?
Thanks
Not when I traveled. Always check up to date requirements on government websites.
My question is am citizens of tanzania if i trasit south Korea incheon to Bahamas do I need to trasit visa ?
Be sure to check with government travel departments
Do you need a visa to transfer

You should check with your airline
Was your luggage transferred? I have the same paranoia, please answer 🙏🏼
@@hasmeaning yeah it transferred. No problem don’t worry
@@MC-bv7ni thank you so much 🙏🏼
How long it took u?
If you trasit korea they need your passport or only bording pass?
Strange question. Which country are you flying from (origin) and which country is your final destination?
I am in japan right now. I will make a connecting flight by myself. from tokyo to seoul from seoul to istanbul. I do not have a visa. Can I do this without a visa?
The question is unclear. Visa for which country? South Korea? If you're not leaving an arrival terminal, you do not need a visa.
@@CalifornianWayfarer i dont have korean visa. Thet want keta for turket. No visa. And i want to transfer myself. Tokyo to seoul , seoul to istanbul. Can do this ?
@@Sametc95 check with a government website for your country. Generally, for South Korea, if you're a transit passenger and are not leaving the airside (arrival terminal), you do not need anything.
@@CalifornianWayfarer arrival terminal ??
@@Sametc95 Arrival terminal means the terminal at ICN you will land in. Your connecting flight should be from the same terminal.
You need to slow down on your panning man. video make people dizzy. Bad.
