It's not that crazy. Billiards is not a physical sport, but a mind/control sport. you use elbow, eyes, and your brain. there are other thing, but these are the 3 important things in my opinion. don't get me wrong though, I definitely know Efren isn't at his prime anymore, but he's still super good. Definitely Respect to you, and this legend man.

Efren Reyes, or the magician, did not gain his exquisite and unique proficiency from nothing. He started playing pool since he was 8 y/o and now he's 65 y/o (dated today) which means he has been playing pool for 57 years (born August 26, 1954).
Efren has mastered the entire pool table angles, strikes force, unimaginable control and precision on the cue ball, and a very high self-confidence with absolutely no vanity (He's very humble and friendly by the way).
Two more things about Efren Reyes, he has never underestimated any opponent, and he has never neglected the calculation of any hit no matter how easy the ball is.
    God bless Efren Bata Reyes.

Everyone is confused by the first rack for some reason. He sinks the three on break.
0:34 He makes the four OFF the one ball.
0:56 Hits one ball, no foul. Hits two ball, no foul. Etc. No foul anywhere in this rack.

    • @richardjones4018
      @richardjones4018 Рік тому

I haven't seen this part, but I'm assuming he missed a call and got snookered. Do you not know how 10-ball works? In 10 ball you usually have to call the ball or safety. If you do not pocket the call the opponent has the option for you to shoot again. At least that's my understanding and the only way he would get another shot after missing.

Efren has a 99% of hitting the target ball anytime he's snookered and on top of that is a 95% of him actually not only trying to hit the the target ball but aiming to make it or put the opponent in a safety position. Efrens knowledge and understanding of every inch of the table and he's total control of his shots is out of this universe. The GOAT.

That's because people's eyesight and motor coordination tend to deteriorate as they age. Age also takes a toll on fluid intelligence, so you can expect Efren Reyes to play less and less ingenious/novel shots as time goes on (because his ability to think out of the box would likely diminish as well). It is thus not surprising that Reyes' precision and consistency aren't anywhere near where they used to be back in the 80's and 90's.

Maybe Efren more revived the back-cuts, kick-happy bank-tastic tactics in shooting on the tables of the 2,000's, (which still sounds reaching and overrating) but I've been shooting stick since like 8 yrs old..even combining all of them in maddeningly hard shots.. 40 years +, and the many teachers I've had thru the years all knew all that stuff. It's really not so miraculous, just becomes parts of the hap-hazard plan when considering miss-safety/ position on next iffy shot. one gets better with practice, sure, but the main thing is making the right decision. + i believe that i could keep Hohman warming that chair of his until he nods off. Thankyou for reading this lol. . . a prime form Willie Mosconi could have dusted the felt w/ either of these cats.

Efren said he is 100% self taught. It is you that learns through watching him if you really watch him close. He combines three skills at once that few can do for any length of time. Like darts, you need to put in the years of trial and error under pressure.

+Nick Kempton because hes on of the best of all time and is only worth 1 million.
a rookie nfl player makes over 2 million his first couple years before he has even proven himself.
an elite nfl player makes 12-20 million a year.
efren hasmade 1 million in his whole career break that down to his approx. 30 year career and your talking about 34k a year.
nfl practice squad players make a minimum of 6,600 a week!
that means they make minimum 80k a year to not even play just to see if they maybe develop into a decent player in the future.

At 2:35, Thorsten broke and did not make a ball. You can count and see the balls! Efren didn't pay attention. Thorsten continued to play. What the hell is going on. No commentator: no referee--many people had to see that all the balls were there on the table. Efren seemed too tired. You need to do something about this--even if this is 2019 now!
