jenny han didn't assassinate jere's character. the red flags with jere were mainly in the second book when we got his pov. he's obsessed with conrad because his father favored him. he's jealous of him. in his mind, he's always in competition with him. that's part of why he pursued belly even though he knew conrad liked her and has known belly has been crushing on conrad since they were kids. also he's a known flirt, and belly wasn't sleeping with him. it's not a shocker that he slept with someone else. jere's golden retreiver act really had y'all fooled. he's deeply insecure and manipulative.
@caribbeanadams3345 So true. They should've just made a brother code because I don't think ruining a sibling relationship is the right way to go. It's not worth it. It's so annoying how Jenny Han portrayed it :(

No joke, as I read this book I kept thinking it was the most messy structured book I've ever read, fanfictions included. the plot is so far fetched i have no idea how they are going to adapt this in any functional way in the show
When I read it the first time I couldn't believe it was actually something it was published and people paid for it. You cannot convince me that book went through a single round of editing lmao
I alaways hate the whole "we were on a break" type of trope. Because its usually they were broken up but one person actually added the clause that "you can't be with any one else until I want us to get back together". Granted I'm not saying you can't be upset about your ex getting a rebound so quickly (and the insecurity about not having sex yet), I just think I would be more sympathetic if Jeremiah had lied and said he hadn't been with someone to her. But then again, there's a lot of other issues with this book lol
I wholeheartedly agree with this as it pertains to book 3. I’ve read the break-up passage multiple times and it in NO WAY comes across as “just a break.” Belly digs into his insecurities, Jere says “fuck it. I won’t waste your time anymore. Let’s just end things now,” and instead of backtracking, she says “Fine.” And following that, she and multiple other ppl acknowledge that they had fully broken up. It’s only after the incident with Lacie has been revealed does Belly decide that it was “just a break.” What’s worse, Belly says stuff like, “he cheated on me when we were broken up.” 😭 Belly has every right to be upset with Jeremiah (especially because she had to find out from someone else) but calling it cheating is unfair. To me, “just a break” only works if there’s a mutual understanding that all parties are taking time away from the relationship, but not necessarily severing commitment.
i REALLY hope they change the cheating (idk if they will tbh cus it’s a major plot point) because they made Jeremiah Bisexual in the show… like cheating and saying bisexual people are “never satisfied with one gender” is a HUGE stereotype for us and i KNOW if they keep the cheating me and other bi people are going to be in the trenches defending our sexuality against this stereotype. Because you know some fans are gonna blame his cheating on his sexuality and not because Jenny Han got Lazy at this point in the books. Also when creating the show in the first place and knowing the full story she chose to make the MAIN cheater in the story bisexual knowing what he does i find is super sinister imo.
idk if u guys have been paying attention but jeremiah is way worse in the show than the books. at least in the books there was way more understanding to jeremiah and the fact he "never begrudged" conrad for being faster better and smarter bc thats just who he is and he loves his brother for that. in the show jeremiah is a downright asshole. jenny had the opportunity to make me want to like him even used that exact same quote i mentioned from the book in the show but took out any depth to his character. the cheating storyline is inevitable especially with how he is in the show it makes even more sense.
It's interesting, cause I'm in Fan Group page on Facebook for the "The Summer I turned Pretty" Series, and one user made a post one time about Jeremiah being Bisexual in the TV series, and in regards to how it might play out in season three from with the cheating incident that happened in the third book. The post was basically a theory that Jeremiah would actually go from Bisexual to Gay season three, and that he confesses to Belly that he's Gay and cheated on her with another fraternity brother romantically. MOST of people in the comment section slightly disagreed however, because not that we had a problem with Jeremiah being bisexual in the show, but the cheating with another girl was major plot point in the book. What we did theorize what COULD Potentially happen in season three, is while Jeremiah is dating Belly(even after the spring break incident), Jeremiah could be shown being caught being romantic with another fraternity brother in his chapter who might identify as either Gay or Bisexual, and Belly might also notice this(similar to what happened in season one with the party scene where Jeremiah made out with another guy). But the cheating with another girl during spring break would still happen, and that is what would probably set Belly off and cause her to snap at Jeremiah in season three. I'm not saying it's bad that Jenny made him Bisexual in the show, that's fine. But what my theory is season three is going to show Jeremiah cheating on both sides of the basketball court during the relationship(Possibly with one of the frat brothers), and then for the second person, it's the girl he meets in Mexico during spring break.

But your delusions are irrelevant, the reality is that the show has added a lot of depth to Jere’s characterisation and made him the most likeable character in the love triangle by a mile. “the cheating storyline is inevitable especially with how he is in the show it makes even more sense.” You’re straight up insane. Show Jeremiah cheating on Belly would make even less sense than in the book, and it already made no sense in the book. Jeremiah is the only character who across both seasons hasn’t cheated on anyone. Steven made out with Taylor when he was dating Shayla, Conrad was going to kiss Belly when he was with Nicole, and Belly kissed Conrad despite having started a relationship with Jere just days before. I love you Daria, absolutely love your commentary, analysis and opinions. While yes, this does have your usual (and dare I say wonderful) vibe you still bring up legitimate criticisms of writing and storytelling that are pretty damn important. Overall, absolutely loved this, missed seeing you aboslutely FUME on my computer screen.
Nah, we need to get rid of or heavily revise the Cabo/Lacie Barone plot because it would be very suspicious to have Jeremiah be labeled a cheater after Jenny decided to make him the only canonical bi character in the show (he was straight in the books). In the show, Jere has already been slut-shamed twice AND the rest of main characters have been involved in emotional cheating/overlapping situationships while facing far fewer consequences.
But he’s the only one running his mouth about his ‘conquests’ that’s the only reason people said anything about it to him in the series. Having a lot of partners is fine, bragging about them is kinda weird.
@@akutyamAs opposed to the other characters who actively cheat on their Partners 🤔. Like Conrad cheating on Nicole with Belly. Belly cheating on Cam then on Jeremiah with Conrad. Steven cheating on Shayla with Taylor. But Jeremiah kissing a lot of people while he was single and talking about it makes him the potential cheater. Really, Okay.
It's very Ironic to me that the people who Slut Shame Jeremiah the most in the show. Conrad and Steven are the one's who have actually been unfaithful to their Girlfriends, Jeremiah was always single when hooked up with someone.
There needs to be major changes for Season 3 of the show. I simply cannot watch them massacre my boy Jeremiah this way, it's so unfair and the whole wedding plot is just INSANE.
I feel like it would make more sense if they were about to graduate and Belly is upset at Jeremiah because he has no plan for after college and compares him to Conrad who is already in Med School.
I saw an interview clip once where Jenny mentioned that she writes scenes in her books out of order and then sorts them into a plot later. This book is an example of why that method doesn't always work. I rated each book in this series 3.5 stars when I read them in 2017. But now I would rate them much lower, especially the last one. 2 stars if I'm feeling generous.
I'm Team Jeremiah I Stan The healthier romantic partner. I always like the Nice Guys who a great Boyfriends and consistent to the end. That's Jeremiah not Conrad.
I read the books because of the TV show and I was honestly so confused about how Belly and Conrad could be the series' endgame because of Jenny Han's contradictory writing. All of the key romantic, happy moments of Conrad and Belly's relationship are literally in the past tense, while anytime Belly's POV talks about Jeremiah is always in the present and future tense. In fact, except for the one scene of Belly's and Conrad's wedding which happens in "real time", all their best moments happen "off stage" - even in the Epilogue when we find out about his love letters. Anyway, I agree with everything you said in your review (as usual lol) and I think they could make the plot work without turning Jeremiah into a cheater just by focusing on his emotional immaturity and trauma - honestly, he and Conrad should do joint family therapy sessions. I also hope they split book 3 into two seasons or do a bigger time jump so we get to see that growth and development happening for all of them like you mentioned. Love your content and take care! 🤗
Something Johnathan Decker said from Cinema therapy really sticks with me. Thats is why in movies and TV Girls have to change their partner into becoming a good boyfriend instead of just being with the person who has those qualities already. Jeremiah already has those Good Surpportive, understanding, Consistent and loving boyfriend qualities. Yet people will route for Conrad to get where Jeremiah already is. 🤔🤔😤😤. That doesn't make sense to me.
I'm also Team Conrad but the show made me like Jeremiah more than the books did! Definitely a situation where the show is better than the books it's based on.
@@crystalaforetia2810why would it just be conrad 💀but either way if I was belly and susannah would say that to me I would probably curse her out in my head after she takes her last breath
@@jennah5990 Susannah tells Belly to “take care of Conrad” only a couple weeks after Belly and him broke up at prom. Susannah does this in a plea for Belly not to give up on him- “you know he loves you”, “don’t let him push you away”, etc. Keep in mind, Jeremiah isn’t even acknowledged in this scene until he unexpectedly appears for two seconds then leaves the room 💀
Looking fabulous while ranting about a book as always. Thank you for expressing what I've been feeling for a long time , the person in the middle of love triangle always end up looking the worse for me .
Love your videos! ❤ Love your commentary and analysis. While I did not love the books, I do love the show. The representation and visibility of the cast is just so incredibly important. I also love the music. For season 3, I echo many of your points. Fingers crossed that the writers will come through. I love both Fisher boys but I am Team Belly. 😊
I think the only reason why I read this series was to avoid spoilers for the show. I hated almost every second of the books. The characters are excruciating to read. I did like the second book, but hated how Han reversed everything in the third book just to elevate Conrad. I also hated how obsessed Belly was with this dude. The third book made me so angry. Oh what I hated the most was the switched letters that Susanah wrote. It was like she was setting up Jeremiah to fail. Ugh! I hope they improve this aspect of the show.
@@gabrielleduplessis7388 I agree. That one was unnecessary. We know that Belly will eventually go back to Conrad. They want to show it like something everyone knows and universe will led to it etc. I prefer to Belly choosing him by her own. Also, in the books Belly didn’t sleep with both of them. But in the series she slept with Conrad and then choose Jer. So now I am confused. I wonder what will Jer’s reaction be
I wish there were a way to love a video because GIRL you took the words right out of my mouth. Books 1 and 2 were a mess but 3 OH MY GOD! Literally what was the point of the whole thing??? It's Conrad, Jere knows it's Conrad, Belly knows it's Conrad, EVERYONE freaking knows it's Conrad so why have a whole book about a wedding we know isn't going to happen. Just let them break up early on and show us Conrad and Belly's love story. I'm not even team Conrad, but I would have been totally fine with him being endgame if Jenny actually wrote a love story for them.
I remember reading this book when i was in high school and even 15 year old me thought book three was sooo painful to read. and at that age i loved pretty much every YA book i read, so this says a lot. The way we all KNOW she is not going to end up marrying Jeremiah, yet we have to push through so much crap of her stubbornly refusing to acknowledge the reality, it hurts. I love your ideas of how season 3 should look like, especially Belly being the one calling off the wedding. Maybe then 15 year old me can heal a bit lol. Loved the video!
Its crazy that he proposed to her at 19 🤦🏻♀️ Its only acceptable for naley at 16 in OTH 😅 I have no idea how they will do that in s3 I Hope they just dont
I am team Conrad too and I remember how frustrated while i was reading that book! I mean i was so pissed the book spend so much time delaying the inevitable with Jer instead of her and Conrads relationship!!
In the book it’s more like 2-3 years before belly and Conrad get back together. In that time she was abroad to study and finished college. She also dated. So it’s not just straight back to Connie. Ps: sorry for commenting so often, I’m commenting as I watch. 😅
I'm team Jeremiah but I know that in the show that the constant, healthy and emotionally available partner. Who is the objectively better partner is rarely rewarded I hope it changes in season 3. Team Jelly.
Conrad has to go to therapy in s3 bc his panic attacks are never going to fix themselves and it would be very poor mental health representation to not actually go through with that plot point, since they took the time to mention it in s1 and in s2. I can't picture show-Belly being so hell-bent on marrying Jere at 18 when everyone else is telling her it's a bad idea. She seems more down-to-earth than book-Belly, in this way at least. I hope everything you said happens in s3!
I noticed a pattern with Han and other authors. Ok the first to all the boys is adorable. I love the first love element. Than she created the perfect love interest with John Ambrose and ruined it because of Lara Jean’s love for Peter. Peter was toxic in the books and it drove me nuts of how they were the end all be all. Same with Conrad and Belly. Why do these authors prefer toxic relationships. They are not fun. They are not sexy and I hate the misconception of healthy and safe relationships being boring and unsexy. No they are not because there are healthy boundaries. They communicate and spice things up for a while, etc. But no, people choose chaos and confusion because that is exciting, at least on TV and in books anyways.
I listened to this series, and the constant flashbacks had me so turned around. I had no idea what age they were half the time. Also, I was so mad while listening to the last book, and the only thing that made me not want to stop listening was "This is what an 18/19 immature Belly would do". I am also a little scared for how they will make some changes in the third season. I did like one change they made in the second.
i remember when i finished the audiobook and all i had to say was that's it 😅 i had to go and re listen to chapters because i thought i missed something. i've seen people say theories that there will be more seasons and i'm kinda ehh on it i don't want them to drag it out for so long. also when sag gets their deal will you still be doing a video on the latest after movie because i would love to see your thoughts on it 😂
I love all the messiness in this book. 😌 I kinda hope they put it all in the series. It’s just so 2000 tv. Makes me nostalgic. 😅😊 Ps: I read the book after watching the show , so my enjoyment is partly from imaging how it’s going to play out and seeing Lola/Chris play their parts.
I don’t think that belly is coming in between the brothers. Jeremiah has always had a complex when it came to Conrad. Them not getting along would always have happened just in a different time/ way. To me Conrad tried but Jere doesn’t seem to like his brother. (There are chapters in book two. )
Didn’t grow up reading these books and only read them because I read the To All the Boys series. This was the most painful books to read. As an adult who loves YA books, I was wondering who green lit these books? I was so mad that idk who would even trust Jenny Han to give us another teen trilogy lol. I am watching the series and it is slightly better…slightly.
I’m team Conrad. I think you can fix most of this plot by instead of a two year time jump maybe make it like 3-4 . And don’t make jere cheat maybe just show that he’s very flirtatious and outgoing and belly is insecure about it. Which leads to fight and break up/ break. It makes them getting married a little more believable in my opinion. I don’t want Conrad to win by default. I want him to earn it.
These books really are bad. Book 1 very dull, her kiss with Conrad was forced and sad. Book 2 was the least worst, it tells a little about their relationship, but it didn't convince me, Jere in the end was plausible, more desperate. Book 3 was total chaos, I just wanted to finish reading and see the totally predictable ending. I like the character Jeremiah, and I think that in the show he can even be better, leaving Conrad's shadow. I'd like to see Jere and Belly having a happy relationship, to see her go to Cabo with him and assert herself, this is my boyfriend, I'm not going to let him travel alone! to see the two having a romantic night, so that the scales balance and make the decision between the boys more interesting, something tangible. without going around endlessly like that damn necklace lol. And even if she still chose Conrad, we would see her experience something different.
Hello! I'd like to recommend 'Lockwood & Co' to you. It's an intriguing Netflix series with only 8 episodes, making it easy to binge-watch. The show revolves around the adventures of teenage ghost hunters, offering a captivating blend of mystery and the supernatural. I think you'll find it a fascinating watch!
Why is this show so popular? I've never seen it, so idk what is capturing people. The title is just....ick. what happened to that american-Korean hybrid Netflix teen show??😂
I also didn’t really like the books…..to be fair I am an older person, not a teen and not a reader of the books years ago but IMHO they are not good, the show season 1 is better, again just my opinion only, the second season was bad except for the first couple of episodes the rest was 👎🏻🤢
im team conrad and ill never feel bad for jeremiah especially show jeremiah. it truly blows my mind that jenny gave him a whole episode and kept specific quotes from the book but also removed parts that would give his character more depth. ppl see that as bad writing i see jenny setting him up for a delicious downfall in s3 that i absolutely can not wait for.
I always find this take insane. Like it’s a teenager with complex relationships with his family and his girlfriend. He gets to make no mistakes with forgiveness, Conrad is put first by everyone even though he goes around hurting everyone, especially in the books. Like Conrad gets to outgrow his flaw but not Jere
@@Peregrine86 nobody said jere wouldn’t outgrow is flaws. It just won’t be with belly because they’re not meant to be together and btw conrad never asked to be the golden child they just put him on the pedestal.

“jenny had the opportunity to make me want to like him even used that exact same quote i mentioned from the book in the show but took out any depth to his character.”
No, you’re just a delusional Conrad girlie who won’t like Jeremiah in any circumstances. But your delusions are irrelevant, the reality is that the show has added a lot of depth to Jere’s characterisation and made him the most likeable character in the love triangle by a mile.
“the cheating storyline is inevitable especially with how he is in the show it makes even more sense.”
You’re straight up insane.
There's literally nothing at all suggesting that he would cheat on Belly.
I couldn't agree more they better not ruin Jeremiah's character to justify putting Belly and Conrad together.
There needs to be major changes for Season 3 of the show. I simply cannot watch them massacre my boy Jeremiah this way, it's so unfair and the whole wedding plot is just INSANE.
I heard Jeremiah cheats on Belly on the books and I literally can’t imagine him doing that in the show, it’s so out of character in my opinion
Agreed If they ruin Jeremiah to justify putting Conrad and Belly together I'm rioting.
🤗
Desperately just want Belly to either be single or date some random other boy and leave those grieving brothers the hell alone 🤡
Its like in The show it was fucked up of of Susannah to ask Belly a 17y old girl to take care of The brothers on her death bed
Not even both brothers, just Conrad 😭
@@crystalaforetia2810really ? I dont remember 😭 its worse
Jeremiah is Peeta coded. Conrad is Katniss coded. Belly… such a Gale. 😂
I think the letter story is the same in the show because we saw in season 2 that they dropped the letters on the flor and thats were they mixes them.
@@begumbakr2647 and i hate it for the same reason
@@gabrielleduplessis7388 I agree. That one was unnecessary. We know that Belly will eventually go back to Conrad. They want to show it like something everyone knows and universe will led to it etc. I prefer to Belly choosing him by her own.
Also, in the books Belly didn’t sleep with both of them. But in the series she slept with Conrad and then choose Jer. So now I am confused. I wonder what will Jer’s reaction be
I find it HILARIOUS how many copies you can find on ebay, mecari, etc because of how many people want to get rid of them
I wish there were a way to love a video because GIRL you took the words right out of my mouth.
Im team Conrad but I have to admit that Jer as a character deserved better
Deserved better but not Belly
I remember reading this book when i was in high school and even 15 year old me thought book three was sooo painful to read. and at that age i loved pretty much every YA book i read, so this says a lot. The way we all KNOW she is not going to end up marrying Jeremiah, yet we have to push through so much crap of her stubbornly refusing to acknowledge the reality, it hurts. I love your ideas of how season 3 should look like, especially Belly being the one calling off the wedding. Maybe then 15 year old me can heal a bit lol. Loved the video!
Its crazy that he proposed to her at 19 🤦🏻♀️ Its only acceptable for naley at 16 in OTH 😅 I have no idea how they will do that in s3 I Hope they just dont
oh my goodness. i would be so pissed if that’s how one of my favorite series ended. 😭💔
Love your work and the reaction vids are perfection! Can't wait for the season 2 reactions and your thoughts on the potential season 3 changes ❤
Couldn't agree more.
At least Peter isn’t as bad as Conrad. Conrad is by far the worst
@@maciedixon3983 i liked Peter until book 3. Movie peter is great.
I did like one change they made in the second.
unrelated but you look so pretty!!!!
Totally agree!
I’d love to know where the top or dress is from.
Reading this book was just pointing at Jeremiah and saying ‘look at how they massacred my boy!’ Over and over again 😭 team Jeremiah girlies RISE!!
Team Jeremiah here let's go war for my boy.
Team Jeremiah since day 1.
New video on my birthday! Let’s go! I’m so glad you are reviewing this! It’s a train wreck!
i remember when i finished the audiobook and all i had to say was that's it 😅 i had to go and re listen to chapters because i thought i missed something. i've seen people say theories that there will be more seasons and i'm kinda ehh on it i don't want them to drag it out for so long. also when sag gets their deal will you still be doing a video on the latest after movie because i would love to see your thoughts on it 😂
When season 3 comes out I'm going to wait to watch it because if they do the cheating storyline I don't think I'm going to watch it.
I love all the messiness in this book. 😌 I kinda hope they put it all in the series. It’s just so 2000 tv. Makes me nostalgic. 😅😊
Ps: I read the book after watching the show , so my enjoyment is partly from imaging how it’s going to play out and seeing Lola/Chris play their parts.
Thank you! Very good analysis. When are you going to post your reaction to TSITP - season 2. I can't find it!
I hope that they do have Conrad and Belly together. Yes
This video is even more hectic in 2x speed 😂 Highly recommend
completely irrelevant, but you look so poo pretty! the dress & hair slay 💕
literally the writers should give jere a boyfriend like c'mon
Only reason i want them to change the cheating storyline in s3 is because the show made him Bi.
this makes me so sad. I love the last book.. (maybe I love it bc of the show)
+1000. There were so many moments I wish I could hit another like on this video.
Yeah the books aren't all that great but I liked the show. I think totally improved it
Conrad’s whole life is a lot of fucking pressure
Are you going to be reacting to season 2 of the show?
You are hilarious!😂
This is my favourite book mainly because we get Conrad's point of view however I completely understand why many do not like it 😂
Thoughts on Season 3 of Bridgerton only releasing in 2024?
I’m team Conrad. I think you can fix most of this plot by instead of a two year time jump maybe make it like 3-4 . And don’t make jere cheat maybe just show that he’s very flirtatious and outgoing and belly is insecure about it. Which leads to fight and break up/ break. It makes them getting married a little more believable in my opinion.
I don’t want Conrad to win by default. I want him to earn it.
I agree with everything but I don’t classify it as cheating
In the books I'm team no one, In the show I'm team Conrad.
Team Jeremiah.
The title is just....ick.
what happened to that american-Korean hybrid Netflix teen show??😂
The show made me team jeremiah !
