Hi Freya, I've just discovered your channel. It's very informative and has inspired me to become an ECA with the ultimate goal of becoming a paramedic. I've been considering a career change from my current role as a chef for a while. I have a telephone interview with the Bristol Ambulance Service in a couple of weeks. I was just wondering how long it's taken you from becoming an ECA to when your paramedic training began? Keep up the good work and great content. Thanks! Nick
Hello and thanks for the comment and question. At the time when I joined, it took about 2 -3 years of eca experience before being allowed to join the internal training for student paramedic. Then it would be 3 years as a student to obtain the degree and be registered as a fully qualified paramedic. However now I understand the time for eca to student can be a little quicker, depending on which Trust you belong to. Or of course you have the direct route from a university such as Bournemouth.
