Astrophysicist here, can confirm Mercury speaks the truth: Sol will become a red giant and expand to consume Gaia in ~7.5 billion years. The Gods of the Sky and the Underworld, Jupiter and Saturn, will reign supreme in new habitable zone (Saturn won't have beautiful rings anymore, sadly). Stay tuned for more cosmic horror!

ah, here's the lyric analysis comment. my guess is that the song as a whole is just about how the sun will expand in around a billion years, putting "gaia" into the metaphorical "flames" and literal "scorching hellzone where the sun vaporizes the oceans"

Considering that the figure is literally wearing the astrological symbol for Mercury, yeah, this is a safe bet. The philological breakdown is nice though. One other observation would be the use of the word "messenger" and the winged ornaments about her head, both of which allude to the Mercury of Roman mythology as the messenger of the gods.

Could be wrong, but the song seems to be about Mercury telling Gaia and Venus about their fate being related to the Sun/Sol's death. When the sun starts dying, it means it has run out of Hydrogen from its core to burn off as fuel, so it will start burning off the Hydrogen in its shell instead, rapidly expanding with its luminosity also steadily increasing, this is called the red giant stage of the sun's death. ...Okay so it's been confirmed that I'm very much into space-themed rock/metal if my love for astronomy and STARSET is anything to go by. Every time I hear the part “Celestial Downfall” I get shivers down my spine. It’s just such a good song. Though every song on this channel is an amazing song.
I just realized that the syncopation of the rithm that makes this song feel off might be referring how mercury's orbit shifts ever so slightly and used to be impossible to explain until Einstein came up with his theory of relativity

Could be wrong, but the song seems to be about Mercury telling Gaia and Venus about their fate being related to the Sun/Sol's death.
When the sun starts dying, it means it has run out of Hydrogen from its core to burn off as fuel, so it will start burning off the Hydrogen in its shell instead, rapidly expanding with its luminosity also steadily increasing, this is called the red giant stage of the sun's death. I'll be explaining the relation between the Sun's death and the song:

⎯When the sun starts expanding, it will "burn off" the Earth's atmosphere, AKA "light searing the sky".
*➢"Menacing gaze peering at her scarred face":*
⎯"Scarred face" would be Earth's surface becoming oceans of lava with the atmosphere lost to space, therefore its "scarred".
*➢"Breathless yet she remains":*
⎯"Breathless" could mean the loss of the atmosphere, due to it being burnt off by the Sun's death/expansion.
*➢"Facing the flames, messenger conveying fate":*
⎯The messenger here is Mercury since in Roman mythology Mercury is the gods' messenger. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun therefore it is "facing the flames".
*➢"Sol will consume, goddess will fall":*
⎯The Sun, in its red giant stage, will consume Mercury, Venus & Gaia/Earth, "goddess" might be Venus in this, she will fall as she's consumed by the Sun's flames.

⎯Gaia's heart would be the Earth's core I would assume.

⎯Sol's eruption into rapid expansion and steady increase of luminosity that will engulf the 3 planets will leave nothing but embers and ash, in Earth's case it will actually leave oceans of lava and metal oxides but I digress.

The Romans are like knock off Greeks with their pantheon.
