Thanks for disclosing that you have a nanny! I love your channel but I sometimes wondered how you could do certain things with 2 small children in tow. So many people online like the pretend that they can "do it all" without admitting that they pay for help (personal trainers, nannies, housekeepers, or having a rich husband).. Nothing wrong with that, I don't even have kids but on days I feel overwhelmed I ask for my partner's help in taking care of household stuff (I am back to school a full time student in a difficult field).💖
As a fiftheen year old living in germany I´m so thankful that you show me, that you can have bouth a career AND kids. So I just wanted to thank you for always inspiring me:)
So nice of you to take part in a homeless non profit. I was adopted from Russia by abusive parents, who raped me and physical/mentally abused me. When I was 18 I was homeless and had no proof of my identity or citizenship. Luckily I found a really great homeless youth shelter called Covenant House (there’s a chapter in Vancouver) that helped me and since then I’ve been out and am in college and working as a nanny.
sophielcrx My mom was in love with the idea of saving an “orphan”, because it was tha good Christian thing to do. However, she wasn’t prepared for the the challenges that came with raising an adopted child and when she realized it was harder than she anticipated she gave up. She is also bipolar, has anger issues, and a load of other mental issues which she has never resolved. And you shouldn’t adopt a child if you can’t take care of yourself and your mental needs. A lot of people think adopted kids are like puppies in a shelter just begging for attention, and while we do want love and a family, we also have real human issues that so many people don’t understand. However, I hope this helps and one day you’ll have the opportunity to help an adopted child.
I seriously would like to hug you for what you said about not criticising the system but do something ourselves. Thank you so much because lately I see so much ignorance about important themes here in Italy and everybody is criticising the goverment but do nothing about it, I really feel alone sometimes. What grabbed my attention about you wasn't the fact of you being a super model (which of course has its importance and merit to be recognized) but especially the natural and grounded-on-Earth person you are. I know for what I've seen you have struggled with many things, being an immigrant (which I know how it feels) and so on, but you have overcome all these stigmas that are nothing to stop your way. Another thing that I like and that makes me nostalgic is the fact of you living in Toronto; it's one of the cities in the world I appreciate the most and from which I learned a lot and of course is like a connection I felt with you. Anyway, this was just the introduction. What I am writing this comment for, tho, is to tell you that your intentions for spreading messages that have to be heard within the most amount of people as possible has succeeded if it comes to me. Although I've never considered myself a selfish person, it is true that when it comes to homelessness I've always felt somehow distant, creating, beyond my willings, a stereotype that does not lead anywhere, I know. With this vlog, you've shown me a different point of you and opened my eyes. Awesome initiative! There are a lot of homeless people around me and the stigma that they spend their money on drugs is pretty valid but it’s not a reason to dismiss them. In that situation, people are very vulnerable to the instant gratification experienced through drug use. But we need more programs like this that do something more then just give them a couple dollars. They need food, shelter, and mental health counseling, so I love when I come across programs like these!!
