It's even more ironic when you realize that AdBlock has become so bloated that some websites actually load faster without it, which is why I switch to Ublock Origin.
I was pretty bummed when Windows Phone 7/8/10 died. My favorite OS by far. The Samsung Focus was probably the phone I had the longest, and it seemed way ahead of it's time: super smooth OS, you could reply to texts from the notification shade, and the start screen was intuitive and useful. Sigh...
I used Nokia Windows phones for a few years and they were the best phones I've ever owned. A shame WP fell apart. We badly need another major platform to shake things up!
I loved my Nokia Lumias. I feel like WP8 was the best iteration, sticking to the Metro design language and extremely well optimised. My Lumia 1520 used to last 3 days on one charge. WP8.1 was slightly less optimised but it brought a few much needed features to the table. Windows 10 Mobile on the other hand, was and is an awful mess. Microsoft really should have stuck on course with their design language and direction, instead they wanted to make it more "familiar" to iOS/Android users. Satya Nadella doesn't seem to have any real plans besides trying to turn everything Microsoft in to a subscription service.
Lmao ikr, i mean im basically in a relationship with my phone, but i wouldnt mind if someone would destroy it, itll only be for the better. Especially considering the number of videos in my sub box is directly proportional to the importance of my next exam. Fuck, just remembered tommorows a chemistry exam. energy drinks pls fuel me for the night or im fucked for life
Shayan Ahmed Worst problem.. you stay up all night only to realise half the time you were on your phone and still didn't study. Don't know how i got this way.. Its fucking with my life..
RETRO REVIEWS ARE BACK! Please Michael, keep these coming. Like you, I'm a sucker for nostalgia, and even products like this that I have never seen live, being Finnish and all, are so damn cool! Great job Michael, thanks, and stay mobile my friend!
Wonderful video Michael. Your content is truly one of a kind. 2008 was an important time for me. I was giving my O-levels, moving on from my 3rd crush, getting into soccer and most importantly getting into the world of the internet. (3rd world country. What can you do? 😅) My closest companion for that period was the Nokia 6680. And honestly the fond memories I have of it isn't skewed by nostalgia because it was a genuinely good phone. Sure it didn't have the latest specs or the features but it was good for what it's worth. Responsive UI. And a satisfactory camera for the time. Took thousands of photos with it. Of the cool rides in my city. Of the road trips and so much more. On the internet side of things it got me into forums and the latest technology and of course reading online fiction. I could ramble on and on but I will keep it short. I used that phone for 4 years. And even when my family and my friends were flashing around their iPhones and N-gages, I never really felt that I had an outdated phone. Unfortunately the demands of modernity have altered my necessities and old phone can work for so long. However the amazing speed and endurance of my OnePlus 5 carries on the Spirit of my Nokia 6680. Thanks for reading Michael(if you have read so far. Lol. Looking forward to your next video.
I miss the physical keyboard, custom roms and kitchens. I started with the 6700, had the Mogul and my last Windows phone was the Touch Pro. The Touch Pro is still one of my favorite phones ever. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Great retro review! Those carrier rebranded names... Mogul. Or was it an official name? I bought the HTC Inspire 4G from A&tt in 2011. Brought it to Europe and oh, it was a Desire HD.
I had the same phone as your dad, although it was called the Qtek S100 over here. I think I loved it at the time but maybe my memory is fonder than the reality. Still I did get it in around 2001 or 2002 so it was way ahead of anything else for its time.
Thanks for the blast from the past. I just dug through my drawers and found my 2 phones from then. The HTC S710, and the HTC Dream. Both were good to me. :)
My first smart phone was the HTC EVO 4G with not real 4g. I too carried batteries and when you turned on the 4g you could watch the battery drain even faster! This was a great addition to your excellent library of videos. The quality and content is top notch. Thank you for sharing these with us.
The HTC Touch Diamond was out in 2008 and I got one of those and it wasn't that bad but just had no memory at all. The next year I got the HTC HD2 which is still next to my bed to this day running Android and acting as my alarm clock. Although I do miss having full age of empires on my phone...
Is it wrong to say I miss my Palm Pre? It's interface was so much more polished than anything at the time, pity it never got a chance to flourish. Thanks for the blast from the past, good times!
i loved this look back. thank you. microsoft made the mistake of trying to apply the desktop paradigm of computing to a handheld, and it was just bad in so many ways. apple started from scratch and it made SO much more sense than this Windows Mobile mess.
This was the first episode of Mr. Mobile I ever watched. Saw him use a clip of Frasier as an example of things that aged well. Been a subscriber ever since.
Back in 2006 I had the HTC 8525(TYTN) and then in 2008 I had the HTC 8925(TYTN II). Those were the good ol' days with Windows CE and a great smartphone before Apple's iPhone.
You, Sir are a really cool man! I had iMate PDA (manufactured by HTC) in 2007. You revived my good memories of that time and age. Michael you are all time best tech reviewer. I am surprised why you have'nt reached 100 Million subscribers! :)
back when phones was more "simple" haha watching this with a tear in my eyes :') such an amazing nostalgic video, please if you ever read this comment Mr Mobile do more like this video!
Great video. I had a nostalgia session before Xmas. Clearing out my closet I had to throw out some old mobiles.... A Nokia N95, an LG Arena, an Ericsson T39 World, a Motorla V30 was it..a flip phone all pristine condition. Have to say though that my favourite phone of all time was my BB Bold 9700 which I lost back in the day....superb phone which did so much. I miss that phone. Build.quality.was impeccable and that keyboard....need i say more. I still use my BB10 Z10, as an MP3 player essentially..(I don't know how to convert WMA files to MP3 to put on my Pixel2!). Keep up great work 👍
My first true smartphone was an Htc mytouch 4g. It never let me down and survived falling off the roof of my car at 60 plus mph with a missing battery cover and and cracked but functioning screen and its battery in place. I reluctantly let it go after all the android updates left it behind. My phone now is an Htc 10 going on two years and still running great. Hope Htc is still around for my next phone.
Before my first Android phone which was the HTC Mytouch 3G. I owned the Samsung Sleek that was on Sprint. lol. I just loved having facebook, twitter and emailing on it and also having that sd card slot for my photos and music. I love the slide out keyboard. I still have in a box at my dad's house. I might drop a retro video for it too. Good video. The slide out keyboard phones will be missed.
I had the T-mobile version of this phone in 2006. I remember that I dropped it more times than I care to admit, and it was a TANK! Never broke. Just scuffed a lot. When I dropped it, the memory card, battery, and battery cover would always come out, but I just popped them all back in.
I Had This In 2008 and liked it because it had a hardware keyboard And Wasn't An Iphone. The Shortcomings Didnt Deter Me, Lol. Loved This Review. Keep It Up Sir!
I had to use Windows Mobile 6.x until 2019 for work. We used ruggedised PDAs with scanners and hardware keyboards. They finally got replaced with Android-based devices, which perform many more functions, but are unfortunately almost as unstable.
I remember having the At&t version of this phone (the tilt) This thing never left the charger for more than 2 hours, myspace was the only website I used on it, and I had to factory reset the thing 2 or more times daily. Good times.
Love your videos as well as the concepts Chief. You deserve millions of subscribers. But damn just half way through as of now. Guys let's promote Mr. Mobile's channel please
Love this retro review stuff! I remember these PocketPCs fondly....they were slow, buggy, but the idea you could literally browse the Internet and run pseudo-Windows programs was amazing for the time! Yeah, we've come a long way since then, for a lot cheaper, but they were an important foundational step to what we have today, and without it, we may have never learned from the lessons that PocketPC forced us to learn the hard way.
2008 I carried a Nokia 5500 sport XpressMusic edition. Thumbs up for catchy name. It work great until I left it in my pants, drying against the tent stove during my military service.. well the phone held up, not the battery..
In 2008, the phone I was carrying was the Nokia E90 Communicator (the last of the communicator line). It was fairly powerful for the time but being built with the Symbian Series 60 UI crippled it a little bit. In 2009, I changed that for the Nokia N900 which was (and is still) one of the most capable devices I've ever used despite the fact that Nokia gave up on it pretty quickly.
I owned this phone and I LOVED it at the time. Sure all the battery problems and issues with the screen we're present but I loved the capabilities it had and the today screen was so customizable. Eventually though I did have to flash custom ROMs for it to keep up and once Android and Windows phone came out I jumped ship.
I didn’t have a smartphone until 2009 so between 2006-2009 I used a Sony Ericsson dumbphone for texting and calling and a PSP Slim for browsing the web and playing games. The PSP didn’t have flash or HTML5 and could only fully load like 30% of the websites, but I hadn’t had anything like it before, so it was revolutionary for me. It also had a switch for wi-fi too!
Wow, can't believe it's already been 10 years. I had the exact same phone, my first HTC. I replaced it with the OG iPhone. This was also my first and last Windows-based device I've ever owned.
I had an HTC Tytn II, windows mobile wasn't fluid, until you intall a custom Home, it was internet capable, and I played ps1 emulators on it, complete office and etc, it never showed any bug. It can do so much more than IPhone 1, and it was from 2007. I miss it. The battery was not good but I had 6 of it.....
I had an AT&T Tilt back in college. It was almost the same as this (made by HTC running Windows Mobile 6.1), but the screen tilted forward when the keyboard was slid out. And it didn't have as many I/O ports as this does. I never really had stability issues with it, honestly. The UI wasn't super fast, but it wasn't annoyingly slow, either. Almost never had any OS crashes or required any reboots - certainly not every day like you said here with this phone. Maybe AT&T just did it better? I miss this old phone sometimes. Android gives some nice customization, but WM was just like a PC in your pocket and could run full Windows apps in some cases. I miss that.
Was the Nokia N95 not a big deal in the usa ? At least here in the uk the n95 was the only real true alternative to the iphone, Video recording and 3G in a time when the iphone had neither.
My first Smartphone was a Nokia C5-00 with 3.2 MP camera module. I bought it in 2010 and was blown away by its Symbian S60 OS. If I'm not wrong, it was Symbian's first OS that could multitask. I loved the idea of minimising apps and reusing them as & when required and they're waiting for you to get used. Also, 3G was getting popular those days and the web browsing experience was simply amazing. Ahh I still miss those days..!!😊
I had an HTC TYTN until the iPhone 3G came out. Been an iPhone user ever since. But I sorta do miss the slide out keyboard! I used to play with the slide out keyboard while watching TV
I remember when my coworker was talking about getting this new phone made by apple in 2007. I said, really? What's so great about that? Here 11 years later i still don't have an iPhone.
This was my first smartphone when it came out. When the iPhone came out I looked at its specs and said ummm no 3g internet and no Bluetooth music streaming. It was missing features of a lot of other phones. So I upgraded to the htc diamond and wouldn’t get an iPhone till the 3GS
I had a T-Mobile dash in 2007 that had a version of Windows Mobile running on it. While it was cool, it wasn't supported very well and it often made me wonder what could have been. When the first Android phone (T-Mobile G1) was launched a year later, I quickly upgraded.
The Nokia N9 was my favorite phone for so long! Even with Apple and Android having some heavy hitters, the N9 felt awesome with the aluminum body and had an awesome camera for its time as well. The OS was much better after a major update from Nokia right before the disappeared, even with some small bugs, it was still my favorite.
This one reminds me of my Samsung Omnia I still have laying around, and it still works without a problem. Mainly because of Windows mobile 6.1, and because of that stylus included since phone digitizers were just bad back then, and almost never responded until you touched the screen with the tip of your nail. I just remember that they called Omnia "another iPhone killer" and other similar names. It just brings some memories, I must say...
The LG Shine was my favorite from back in the day... Good lord I hated the amount of problems that phone gave me! It did help that I had a mirror in my pocket though, all the ladies seemed to love that
Haha I had that phone. I even stuck around for another year and got the HTC Kaiser. Tilting touchscreen baby! Those were the days when we had 12 month contracts. Ahh memories...
Adblock Browser has its own ad, nice.
Saad Naeem the irony....
Ironic as fuck man
Ironic (if could post the gif of palpatine saying "ironic" I would)
😂
I was going to comment that.
an ad for adblock... interesting
By a youtuber who surely earns money through......ads. Errrr.....
hmmm
The irony
is so hard
Hmm
Ikr!
An ad for Ad block browser ? oh the irony !
The ad block serves to block rogue ads. Not a nice, appropriate one like this.
It's even more ironic when you realize that AdBlock has become so bloated that some websites actually load faster without it, which is why I switch to Ublock Origin.
Please make more retro videos, we always love how companies pushed the tech those days, as opposed to now.
My memories of Windows Mobile come from the HP iPaq. Truly a legendary device to me.
I had one too. I can't remember the model number. My first PDA was a Casio Windows CE "hand held computer." Later CE became Windows Mobile.
for me, Dell Axim X30

Don't know how i got this way..
Its fucking with my life..
Tech Incorporated ikr, i sware i only watched a couple short vids and then its 4am. Seriously how does that fucking happen
Alloy2 I know exactly what you mean :/
That sounds like a personal problem. You’d find a way to procrastinate with or without your phone.
In 2008 i had the 'HTC touch HD', it wasn't perfect but worked great! I later got the HD2, that was a huge step up.

TechLineHD I bought mine as an O2 XDA Trion, I think.
My dad had the i-mate jam. I wanted that phone so badly. Then he gifted me a Nokia N70. Best first phone ever 😍

Yesss the Mogul. I had one in 08 too, I LOVED that phone.
If you just listen to the audio, it actually still comes across as rather appealing. So many buttons? Yes please!
I bought the Nokia 5800 xpressmusic as my first smartphone, miss that a lot!!
I personally live when you do these, please keep them coming!
Was the Nokia N95 not a big deal in the usa ? At least here in the uk the n95 was the only real true alternative to the iphone, Video recording and 3G in a time when the iphone had neither.
The first iPhone wasn't that big in the UK. The N95 was THE phone to have.
By the time of the mess that was the N97 though...
HTC HD2 is probably the heaviest phone I ever use
Oh shit man, I had that too. It was such a massive screen back then
My first Smartphone was a Nokia C5-00 with 3.2 MP camera module.
I've only recently started using the like button on UA-cam, and almost exclusively for MrMobile. Great video, once again.
Greaaaaaat video mike , most creative tech youtuber
Younes ZH azoul 😆
The mr.mobile retro series is my most favourite of all. Maybe you yourself should do more videos this series and other youtubers should too.
So weird the episode of Frasier you had in this video was on tv this morning in the uk! RIP John Mahoney
I remeber picking up HTC Tattoo back in 2010.
Nothing beats the feeling when first time I installed Cyanogenmod 7.
How time flies,huh?
1:21 Sony XA2 review coming?
I remember when my coworker was talking about getting this new phone made by apple in 2007. I said, really? What's so great about that? Here 11 years later i still don't have an iPhone.
Great vid, I found the case to my TMobile G2 yesterday 🤣
This was my first smartphone when it came out. When the iPhone came out I looked at its specs and said ummm no 3g internet and no Bluetooth music streaming. It was missing features of a lot of other phones. So I upgraded to the htc diamond and wouldn’t get an iPhone till the 3GS
I had a T-Mobile dash in 2007 that had a version of Windows Mobile running on it. While it was cool, it wasn't supported very well and it often made me wonder what could have been. When the first Android phone (T-Mobile G1) was launched a year later, I quickly upgraded.
had the similar MDA Vario II. was the first phone i could use proper internet an email on, just a bit big and thick.
I had the Alltell version....and I loved it mostly because I had no idea how to use it
This one reminds me of my Samsung Omnia I still have laying around, and it still works without a problem.
