    Thank you, I made this! It was my first time ever sewing , so as a beginner, I can tell your tutorial is clear, easy to understand and logical. I bought my fabrics online, so I just realized they were pure white when they arrived. But I dyed them with coffee so the color was adjusted to a proper off white.

      This is exciting! I haven’t done a big project like this (I’m a beginner who hasn’t sewed in… around 6-7 years!). I want to start making my own clothing and even just improving any past skills I knew. I bet your skirt came out very lovely.💞

    Did anyone catch if she explained how to calculate how much you need for your waist size to get this same look? These measurements are specific to get size. For example did she say something like, “ you will need 3x’s your waistband” etc. for sone reason the audio is so quiet on my phone I can barely hear her and I’m just looking for a tutorial that explains how much you need multiply your waist size for this sort of fullness.

    Hi, thank you for this amazing tutorial 😊 I am making a dress for myself for a special ocasion (university graduation 🤞😅) combining this beautiful skirt,and a gathered bust top from Vivian Okeke with tulle outer layer similar to Lirika Matoshi dresses. I am afraid I don't have enough lining fabric for a half circle skirt and top pattern pieces. Is it okay to make the lining a gathered skirt too? Also, my waist measurement is 78cm so is the width (150cm) for the inner layer and lining okay for my waist? I hope you can answer, it is my first big project and I'm so excited 😅

      Hi Hilal! Thank you so much for the comment, and huge congratulations on your graduation❤️ As for the lining part, based on your measurement (waist: 78cm, inner layer width: 150cm), I think it may work as the inner layer width is a bit more than 1.9x of your waist :) Hope you have a great time working on your dress and of course, enjoying your graduation day! Wish you all the best for your awesome future ahead of you✨

    Hi this is a lovely skirt but you skipped a big section on how you joined the long ends of the skirt together. You went from a flat piece of sewn layers of tulle, showed the belt and tada, suddenly the skirt is all pieced together. Can you please explain what you did to join them all together as i desperately want to make this? Thanks

    • @hyegineer
      @hyegineer  2 роки тому

      Hi! This was my very first video, so I lost footages of many steps I wanted to share. After combining them altogether on the top, you can start sewing the loose ends of each layer; 1) invisible zipper is attached to the lining piece, and 2) the tulle layers' loose ends should be sewn together respectively, leaving your desired zipper length, so you can open and close. Let me know if this helps :) !

    • @hyegineer

      Hi Aida! Thank you so much for your comment :) 🥰
      My measurement: 25" in waist, 5'6 in height (168cm), size XS or 2 in the US
      Tulle fabric: 6 yards of 59"(150cm) wide polka dot tulle - for both the outer layer and the inner layer
      Lining fabric: 3 yards of 59" (150cm) wide crepe back satin

      @hyegineer  2 роки тому +3

      Hi hi! Thank you soo much! I actually just tried out all different combination and lengths before coming up with 150cm; I finalized the numbers when the puffiness and volume matched what I envisioned it to be. :)

    • @hyegineer
      @hyegineer  Рік тому

      Great question! I think it would’ve helped if I explained it in the video as well. Actually, 150cm wasn’t the result of any calculation, but it was the given width of the fabric I purchased. So I tried a couple ratios of gathering, and settled with the existing width :)

  • @Juliasdreaming
    @Juliasdreaming 2 роки тому +1

    I’m very new to sewing so I am a little confused! The top layer is all three sets sewn end to end to make one very wide set and then gathered to make it more opaque? Then the inner layer is not tiered? So with the lining, this skirt is 3 layers deep?

    • @hyegineer
      @hyegineer  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Julia! Thank you for leaving a comment :)
      You're absolutely correct! The skirt consists of 3 layers, including the lining, first tulle layer without any tier, and the second tulle layer (outermost) that has two tiers sewn together. Inner layer's not tiered because if you do so, the skirt gets very puffy, which I wanted to avoid. Hope this helps🤍
