I've flown many times internationally and have tried other International Aircrafts. Traveling via the Philippine Airlines have always been smooth, taking off and landing. The seats are spacious and the foods and drinks are great. I remember drinking unlimited San Miguel Beer and a free Philippine Newspapers while aboard this aircraft.
I really loved flying PAL because their service was excellent. The flight attendants found it funny & smiled when they saw me taking a video while my family & I were boarding.
thank you so much. i enjoyed PAL for sure, especially the nice service of the cabin crew! The opportunity to fly the A340 was also great! thank you for watching my videos :o)
its 16 years old i believe, thus the entertainment system looks ancient. the planes with updated entertainment system and new seats in PAL's fleet are the B777-300ER and the B747-400. I believe the new A330s that PAL are acquiring will have modern interiors too.
im flying with Phillipines Airlines from London to Manila i dont care about the inflight entertainment as long as the cabin crew are polite and friendly. this looks good. i will give it a try.
I enjoyed watching your travel. Just came back from Manila to LAX via PAL direct flight. Smooth flight & the crew was nice and polite. I'll do it again next time. Thanks for sharing your video.👍
There is something so special in these widebody aircraft with no IFE system. Once in a while its really enjoyable to fly in these old birds. Great memories flying long haul routes on A340-300 with no IFE, all passengers just interacting with one another. Nostalgic
Indeed, I do use the IFE because there isnt much I can do during those long flights. But when I have no IFE I talk to my mates, go on my phone, I see people reading, it is a great pleasure. I guess because its my childhood memories on a plane
Nice job! I like the attitudes of the cabin crew that served you. However the IFE reminds me of the good ol' days before PTVs in economy were introduced.
Great, clear video RvXKaz. No AVOD on the 340 sux, but it's 8 1/2 hours direct from MEL to MNL instead of 11 1/2 + with other carriers. p.s. PAL's 777s are quite new and very nice to fly in. Keep up the good work.
Gavin, my friend. Great footage of a quite rare carrier. Good to see you were able to fly the illustre A343, my favorite wide body and the most sluggish airplane on takeoff. It appears PR's birds could definitely do with some revamp! No PTV'S is not done anymore, for sure not on a widebody and on longhaul. Luckily the FA's were friendly and proactive and the flight not too long. Thanks for sharing this one!
I flew from HK to Manila on Phillipines airline and they served meal, while returning I flew Cebu Pacific, and there were on meal. Though airfare for both were very similar. (economy tickets)
Hi Gavin...another great video...you sure have the knack!! As a suggestion, have you have ever thought about branding your videos with a watermark....I have put a procedure in the UA-cam tips playlist on my channel....
haha, well, I, on the other hand, have only been to T2! Its a basic terminal design with limited number of check-in counters and gates. I've had a glimpse of T3, looks massive and modern in comparison!
First time to use Philippine Airlines (Aug-15,Aug-26 2016) and it will be the last time. If you don't mind having 2 to 3 -hours delayed on both way of your round trip then this airline is for you. My observations: The crews are doing a good job, food service is bleh, seating space is fair for a 6-feet tall guy like me and the airplanes that we use is really old Airbus A340-300 both way. i thought those amenities don't exist anymore, hanging wall tv, nonadjustable elbow rests pad, old lavatories and the ceiling of the airplane was shaking really bad. i thought it will fall on my head. The delayed time for this International flight falls flat on my taste and you can see the frustrations from other passengers too. And for my futures travel,i might stick to Asiana, Cathay Pacific or Singapore Airlines.
The reason there is no entertainment is this aircraft hasn't been refurbished before. It is a very old aircraft. Now, with PAL's new type of aircraft, it does not have entertainment screens, but offers iPad's for free in all classes.
NOTHING OFFERED ON MY FLIGHT THE PLANES WAS FULL BOTH DIRECTION THE VIDEOS SCEENS ON BOARD WERE POOR NOT VIEWABLE THEY GAVE US HEADPHONES BUT THE SOUND WAS DISTORT AND FAINT VERY POOR FOR INTERNATIONAL AIRLINE ITS NOT BUDGET CARRIER EVEN WE TRAVEL IN ECON WE DESERVE BETTER SERVICE THAN THAT IF I WANTED TRAVEL ON BUDGET AIRLINE I WOULD HAVE FLOWN CEBU PACIFIC I THINK I WOULD HAVE RECIEVED A BETTER SERVICE THAT WHAT I DID ON PAL PLEASE IMPROVE PAL IVE BEEN FLYING WITH U 26 YEARS NOW
Nathan Barrios if im not mistaken, the last time took PAL it was 2007, from LAX TO MNL. i didnt experienced that they offered a ipads for entertainment,,, or mayber ipads is not yet out by that year.
simon smith Ill make sure everytime i travel, i bring my own headset coz to my experienced those headset that the airlines company offered are just the same,, (asians, americans, canadians airline companies ) IN SHORT NOT GOOD QUALITY AND ITS FOR FREE. We can take it if we want.
PAL needs to up their game, AND QUICK. They're becoming budget carrier levels already with their one-class A330 with just 30 inches of seat pitch! (And then premium economy with 34 inches, which is just regular economy for others) The lack of AVOD is just... what the heck. Are we in 2006?! Dunno why they retired their refurbished 747s and not their A340's.
you think it's easy to do it quick and fast. how about you take over PAL see if you have the budget to change it quick. Think first before taking action.
It was because of their old owners San Miguel becuase when they took over they wanted it to become a half budget airline and a half premium airline hopefully since it's back to the original owners they will refurbish all their fleet and improve their service 😊😊
To be honest, I would only fly this aircraft to the US and inside the Philippines. Because going to the US you use the boeing 777 which has IFE.(I went to the US last month) Lucio Tan should really upgrade thier fleet if they want 5 star
I flown the Philippines A340-300 from Manila to Los Angeles on February 16th 2005.The Flight Attendants were friendly and professional and the seating configuration was great with a 2-4-2 in fiesta class (Economy). The downside of this aircraft is it is slow as molasses ascending into the air and the entertainment quality was terrible because due to the volume quality and the screen kept blacking out and there were no individual video screens for each passenger to watch or listen to whatever they wanted to watch and listen to, just like this aircraft shown here on this video.Other than those two issues, the aircraft and Philippine Airlines is great!
Philippine Airlines (fromerly Philippine Aerial Taxi Company and Philippine Air Lines) is a flag carrier / national airline of the Philippines, 3 star airline and future Oneworld member. Philippine Airlines is 79 years old airline. Philippine Airlines' houses are located at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (fromerly Nichols Field, Villamor Air Base and Manila International Airport) and Mactan Cebu International Airport. Also, minor house is located at Kalibo International Airport. The old houses are located at Grace Park Airfield (Manila North) and Manila International Air Terminal (Nielson Field)
I flew with a few Philippine airlines while I was in the Philippines on march. They're pretty good airline. What is T2 like in Manila? I've only been to T1 and T3.

Thank you for the insight mate....I now have no hesitation flying Melbourne to Cebu with Philippine Airline.. thanks again...
Another great video from you Gavin. I hope to see more great video from you in the future.
thank you so much. i enjoyed PAL for sure, especially the nice service of the cabin crew! The opportunity to fly the A340 was also great!

I like that air craft very much
Good jobs keep up the good works Philippines Airlines,Congratulations the jobs well done ,all passengers arrives in safety etc.thats all and thanks.
Most improved airline for 2019.and we all can witness the turnaround of the airline!this video was made 5 years ago.👍
im flying with Phillipines Airlines from London to Manila i dont care about the inflight entertainment as long as the cabin crew are polite and friendly. this looks good. i will give it a try.
I fly til cebu
Filpino are always kind and that's one heck of a long flight
BenGunns video uploaded 4 years ago.its not actual anymore
thank you for watching! i guess you sum up my experience very well!
your right, i like the hospitality of PAL's cabin crew, really makes a difference on the flight experience!
I miss u so much ms bird
yup agreed! the flight was good even without entertainment. since its a short sector flight, just appreciate the nice service! thanks for replying!
Hey, Gavin! Thank you for visiting the Philippines again!
thank you for your suggestion! I'm doing that
thank you very much for watching! glad you enjoyed it!
Nice video. Excellent work as always
great video and window seat, this is the best seats
thank you and glad you encountered a nice stewardess like her. Flight attendants can really make a difference to a flight experience!
Agreed! :D
thank you for dropping by!
thank you very much for watching! this particular A340 is about 16 years old and I guess its interior wasn't updated.
Philippine Airlines sometimes uses the A340 or the 747-400 for the Cebu to Manila flight.
thank you, as always, for dropping by and leaving a comment! always appreciate your nice feedback!
An interesting and informative video. Well shot! Thanks for sharing.
Yes
I enjoyed watching your travel. Just came back from Manila to LAX via PAL direct flight. Smooth flight & the crew was nice and polite. I'll do it again next time. Thanks for sharing your video.👍
Another great and informitive video. Tough luck on the entertainment system. I guess thats why Apple made the i-pod :)
thank you for watching and no, it isn't my job (i wish it was!)
There is something so special in these widebody aircraft with no IFE system. Once in a while its really enjoyable to fly in these old birds. Great memories flying long haul routes on A340-300 with no IFE, all passengers just interacting with one another. Nostalgic
Juan Carballedo i agree Juan. when i flew on an aircraft with IFE sometime i dont use them. i just sleep or so stuffs on my iphone
Indeed, I do use the IFE because there isnt much I can do during those long flights. But when I have no IFE I talk to my mates, go on my phone, I see people reading, it is a great pleasure. I guess because its my childhood memories on a plane
In 2018 let's say goodbye to the A340 and hello to the new A350s
nope, it has the current PAL livery.
Thank you for the nice video. I really enjoy your videos since I am no longer able to travel. This is almost like being on the plane with you.
I enjoyed my Philippines experience, though it was very rainy during the period i went! thank you!
Good company, the FAs are very friendly and professional. All longhaul planes are nowadays (2014) equipped with backseat individual screens.
it was nice to see they manila airport the last time i was there i was only 4
yeah lol, its ancient but they have personal screens on their B777-300ERs and B747-400s
haha, i like the aisle seat for longer flights but window seats for short haul is good!
thank you very much for watching! :)
Another splendid video Gavin, keep flying :)Tanay
Great video, very interesting you are a good boy, congratulation, saludos from chile - southamerica.
Nice job! I like the attitudes of the cabin crew that served you. However the IFE reminds me of the good ol' days before PTVs in economy were introduced.
As usual, excellent. Thank you for sharing.
i have flown with Philippine airlines before SFO to MNL all I ask is to upgrade your fleet
Great, clear video RvXKaz. No AVOD on the 340 sux, but it's 8 1/2 hours direct from MEL to MNL instead of 11 1/2 + with other carriers. p.s. PAL's 777s are quite new and very nice to fly in. Keep up the good work.
thank you very much for supporting me
thank you!
Nice classic interior. Remembers me of the good A300. I just dont know if its good enough to compete with the other big asian Airlines.
thank you very much! :D
i didn't have problems with traffic, woke up very early to go to MNL!
Gavin, my friend. Great footage of a quite rare carrier. Good to see you were able to fly the illustre A343, my favorite wide body and the most sluggish airplane on takeoff. What a pleasant, orderly boarding process! Unlike the chaos at the European gateways!
Hi Gavin...another great video...you sure have the knack!!
As a suggestion, have you have ever thought about branding your videos with a watermark....I have put a procedure in the UA-cam tips playlist on my channel....
I can see Star Trek playing on the screen in the background.
haha, i guess favourable winds! it actually surprised me very much too!
I like you video, thanks for sharing.
I think i'd love to visit Guam! it's so exotic!
yeah! it was quite interesting!
Well done, Gavin. Thank you!
It's too big using A340 series for this middle-short flight. Could be more efficient using A330 or A320.
i really like this vdeo..good job
Great Video! Thank You
The monitor at 03:10 is still a CRT
Lol
haha, well, I, on the other hand, have only been to T2! Its a basic terminal design with limited number of check-in counters and gates. I've had a glimpse of T3, looks massive and modern in comparison!
thank you for your insight, most interesting and yeah i feel the A340 looks better than the A330 - modern and stylish, like you've mentioned!

Great report! Well done ;)
Great video of the airport and flight!

+benjebon as of 2015 they are offered (HNL-MNL)
Do this in 2016 with my pal player, my pal player is a app for Philippine airlines
well, their A340s are really, really old. The B777-300ER and B747-400 features their new interior, and makes a much better hard product for longhaul
I love to have a vacation at the Philippines, I hate it when I leave the Philippines.

What will FlightTravels do about it?
Very clear video! Nice.
nung umuwi ako pal..ngaun ayoko na sa pal.mas gusto ko etihad o kaya cathay ang sarap sumakay sa cathay pacific..
Of corse it's raining. When I was leaving to go back to San Francisco it was raining wow
they are installing wifi and the wireless ife on all a340. soruce= philippine flight network
Where's the S of the end
Of PhilippineS
Very nice travel video, how about your flight from singapore to manila what airline did you took? Will you be posting it too?
To be honest, I would only fly this aircraft to the US and inside the Philippines. Because going to the US you use the boeing 777 which has IFE.(I went to the US last month)

At 9:20 it looks like heaven.

PAL's terminal in Manila seems to look better in your video than in real life.. haha anyway nice travel vid
Now NAIA2 is undergoing a facelift

That landing tho..🙆🙆🙌🙌🙌😎
i was there in mid-sept
Awesome video do u travel for a job, because if u don't how do you get to fly so often?
They buy there a340 from Iberia or Argentina airlines [ some times ]
Just awesome again Gavin!! Keep the videos coming!
it was okay for a short flight, though on longer flights, OMG!
it was okay since it wasn't a long sector. since its a short flight, a nice service is all that matters :D
I saw the other video from your previous channel RvxKAz and which aircraft do you prefer? The A340-300 or the A320-200?
ey Gavin, another great vid. Are you on holiday in Manila or just in transit?
Thanks for featuring our national
airline.
I flew with a few Philippine airlines while I was in the Philippines on march. They're pretty good airline. What is T2 like in Manila?
I've only been to T1 and T3.
may wifi ba sa entire flight?
bengunns they are kind I am a filipino all filipinos are kind
Codsharing with AirAsia Zest (fromerly), Cebu Pacific, Jetstar Asia Airways, PAL Express, Singapore Airlines and Tigerair to Singapore
well, there are more factors to the ticket price than entertainment system lol...
no IFE? :(
3:20 why is crew closing overhead bins when theyre not even full? Sad that there isnt any personal entertainment. They need to update their fleet.
They close it for safety. They only have IFE IN 777
+Edwin Mark they also have TV
+Edwin Mark They should be closed after all passengers have boarded or when they're full.
+troy seth Standard Operating Procedures for Departure You want a big luggage to fall on your head? or incur damage \
Let me clarify, why is she closing the bins while passengers are still boarding??
