This scene is where an ungodly amount of LN readers was born. The anime did a damn good job of promoting the LN
Season 2 and 3 did even more of a good job to promote the LN, forcing so many complaints out of LN readers that I, who didn't know the difference between a novel and a light novel at the time, started reading it

He’s not a malicious person. His idea of winning is, in an extremely ironic fashion, losing. He wants to prove his dad wrong by being defeated by someone else and proving he is not the ultimate specimen.

Kiyo's dad sent him to ANHS to train, exploiting his emotional weakness. Despite Kiyo escaping to learn about emotions, his father orchestrated everything, including enrolling him in Japan's toughest school and hiring Tsukishiro to expel him (never tried to). Kiyo is catching on, but he hasn't grasped that his actions align with his father's plan.

I would say that season 1 is actually the worst of them all when we talk about adaptation from the novel. Not sure about s3, as I'm on Volume 7.5 of the novel, but s1 changed and cut a lot of content
@@batmihi6950i'm currently reading Y2V11 and i disagree, although season 1 cut a lot of content it still sent the novel's message pretty well(even though you see ayanokoji in a completely different light in the anime), season 2 just isnt the same, ayanokoji doesnt feel like the same unreadable genius from S1(even though i still hadnt had contact with the source material), but in the novels even though i literally read what he thinks by that point in the story i hadn't picked up the way our boy does things.
and S2 also cut a lot of content

ayanokoij is a goat. even if I think that living like someone without feelings and who thinks that others are just pawns is an absolute advantage, but at the same time living like this mostly without feelings and emotions would be a bad life in my opinion
Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Ayanokoji Kiyotaka doesn't act like fools similar Asta, Naruto, and Goku but at least these characters have more fulfilling lives. Ayanokoji on the other hand not so much. He is extremely intelligent but unfortunately for him he wasn't taught to create or value bonds in the white room. He doesn't have an actual mentor who cares for him and wants the best for him. His own mother only sees him as a means to make money while his father wants to use him as a means to further his own agenda. Kiyotaka didn't have the best people to help him except for the butler that helped him escape and the principal who protected him.
this scene is so good, the lead up and music/atmosphere makes you think this is like some cliche ending where one of the female leads who is "cold" to the MC through out the season starts to open up and and the audience thinks her walls are being broken down, then kiyotaka drops that bomb of a monologue.. ayanokoji goat mc
This anime is criminally underrated
That's probably mostly because of how bad of an adaptation it is. Second and third season are way better in terms of adaptation, but the animation quality drops imo. The Novel on the other hand, it's a masterpiece

I was just thinking about that. I’m pretty sure they switched studios for the 2nd and 3rd season. Maybe that caused some sort of music licensing issue? Otherwise there’s no excuse not to use this amazing track

Can anyone who's seen this series tell me if it's good? I've seen out of context clips and it just seems super overly edgy to me in regards to the MC. Especially in regards to the, "everyone is a tool and I'm better than all of them" approach. But I'm curious on if it gets better or is worth getting into
It is not what people say it is. It is a great show if you like a realistic "no bullsh1t" view on life. Don't judge It by season 1, it is just an introduction. Season 2 and 3 are REALLY good.
His edginess is excusable he was raised to be machiavellian
Most of his character is gutted in the anime, making him a complete edgelord. The LN has a lot more of his inner monologues and interactions with other characters, and he feels more like an actual human that does try to interact with others and socialize
You will probably not like any actual cool character since you seem like a snowflake so I'd say avoid this type of anime in which the main character is a cold and calculative person
