Heard this voice peeking through the din of a busy restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, of all places. There’s something about his voice that’s resigned and strong at the same time, saying such bittersweet words, that got me hooked. Lovely, hidden gem of a song.
I'm an exiled Manc' (well more a Lanc') living in Norfolk. 9 years ago I got diagnosed with MS so I used all the money that me and my wife had ear marked to go towards a new house and bought a Swanky British '60s convertible classic car. I didn't know how much longer I'd be able to drive. We blasted up to the Northwest for a holiday where I grew up. This song, in fact the whole album, (but especially this track) provided the soundtrack for that great holiday. Seen Kloot several times since - love 'em. Cheers for those memories John!
Hope your doing well pal and that british classic convertible isn't pissing to much oil.. and remember british built motors don't leak oil they're just marking their territory.
Such a stunning song, we can only hope that one day the world shares this view and recognises I Am Kloot for what they really are: Simply one of the hardest working and best bands currently out there. How can these guys not get the success they deserve when there's people who walk into fame just by going on shitty talent shows!
Sheer brilliance, the greatest band most of the world have not heard of. Hope they do get the recognition they deserve for writing some of the best music and lyrics in recent years.
Brilliant song by John Bramwell that will always remind me of my friend Hazel Davies, who passed away recently. It was played at her funeral. She was a force of nature and loved Liverpool and the Northern Skies. 💔
I came across this the day my wonderful gorgeous partner was told there was nothing more they could do for his cancer. We're living every day as if it's our last
just seen them live on Friday the 29th at the Tyne theater Newcastle upon Tyne and all i can say is ,FANTASTIC,totally amazing live singing,even better than the cd,if you get the chance watch these guys live,this was my 2nd time watching live and they just get better and better.
great vid, superb song. As an exiled Northerner good to see Manc' refs. I remember driving down Bury road with my Dad. He always used to crack a joke about Salford Van Hire being a famous Lancastrian painter.
The Lead singer of I AM KLOOT Johnny or John Bramwell as he now refers to himself as crdited on their latest Album "Let it All In" [2013] once reffered to himself asJohnny Dangerously, I have an 80's 12" vinyl EP called "YOU,ME AND THE ALARM CLOCK" under that name but its now available on CD under his real name. He hassuch a fantastic distinctive air in his vocals that make you take notice I bought their self titled CD with black cover few yrs ago, still think its their best work personally.
Lyrics: Above there are no stars tonight just northern skies Reflected light upon your face Some people think stars rule our lives, Some people they think otherwise They can be replaced. Where did you go on that big black night? Did you take the coast road back through your life? See the sand, the moon, the stars that shine the light and say, well They'll do all right for me We shroud our lives in mysteries, Shooting stars and storming seas, if we Have any sense Storm clouds roll, they're free to break And we're free to make The same mistakes again and again Where shall we go On that big, black night? Shall we take the coast road back through our lives? See the sand, the moon, the stars that shine the light and say, well They'll do all right without me Above there are no stars tonight, just northern skies Reflected light and fields of snow. Some people think stars rule our lives, Some people they think otherwise What does anybody know? Where shall I go on that big, black night? Shall I take the coast road back through my life? See the sand, the moon, the stars that shine the light and say, well They'll do all right for me Where shall I go on that big, black night? Shall I take the coast road back through my life? See the sand, the moon, the stars that shine the light and say, well, They'll do all right for me See the stars and constellations Sit beneath their congregation
What a great band this is. Met the lads at Spaceland in Silverlake Los Angeles years ago, and it was an excellent show - then in Brighton's Komedia last year, where they were, again, excellent. Enjoyed the drum work a lot there, and the whole LP is worthwhile.
John bramwell !!!! Does anyone need more xxxx thanks for the greatest night in Edinburgh !!!!' The pegs don't work John and David, give me my cash back xxx lol best night ever,Na na na ma naaaaaaaa
This song is a trap. It won't let me to hear what the rest of the album is about, I have to listen to this one thirty times over before I'll even begin to explore the song no. 2.
@jumpintheriver2 different chords different beat different timing diferent words in actual fact a completeley different concept. If it reminds you of bobby mgeee that can only be a masif compliment to these guys as both are fantastic songs
I just hope that Christopher Eccleston locked his caravan properly, thus avoiding loss of tea, coffee and snacks.Lets face facts here , this needless theft of photographs would not have happened had the lads from I am Kloot locked their Mercedes Benz.Come on lads, lets think security here.
Played this at my son Ashley’s funeral, the lyrics mean so much to me,our relationship, and what happened the night I found him.
❤💔 sorry to hear your sad news mate
So sorry, stay strong, it's heavy task. Peace & love
Too, too sad my friend...crying for you and your boy Ashley. Arohanui from Aotearoa NZ.
The Doctor will always take a look

@@freaklawyer That's wonderful...great to hear they have fans so far away 🙂
First time I've ever heard I Am Kloot...so glad I found them! Listening from Aotearoa NZ in 2021.
Such a stunning song, we can only hope that one day the world shares this view and recognises I Am Kloot for what they really are: Simply one of the hardest working and best bands currently out there.
How can these guys not get the success they deserve when there's people who walk into fame just by going on shitty talent shows!
John Bramwell has such a distinctive voice full of warmth and nostalgia
This is one of favourite all time tracks in my life that i always go back to listen to.It is pure class and so is the album.
Sheer brilliance, the greatest band most of the world have not heard of. Hope they do get the recognition they deserve for writing some of the best music and lyrics in recent years.

I Am Kloot are one of the best bands around and have been for ten years.
This song is awsome. I can't get enough of it.
Absolutely fantastic song, up there with Nick Drakes Northern Sky. Superb.
Saw John Bramwell at The Cluny in Newcastle last night. He hugged me. I don't need anything for Christmas now!
I came across this the day my wonderful gorgeous partner was told there was nothing more they could do for his cancer. We're living every day as if it's our last
Sorry to hear.
Love this! Haunting words and melody ❤
And can I add.... One of these shores greatest song writers xxxxc easily

This pops into my internal monologue most days, never known why. The melody, the lyrics or something else, it just resonates like nothing else.
I could see this on the radio. You guys sound great!
heartbreaking song of beauty
Stunningly beautiful
Loving the album. One of the best of 2010 so far. Think they deserve a mercury nomination for this one.
i'm listening that song for the first time.. I think is amazing!
can't wait to see I am Kloot this summer.
What a great band this is. Met the lads at Spaceland in Silverlake Los Angeles years ago, and it was an excellent show - then in Brighton's Komedia last year, where they were, again, excellent. Enjoyed the drum work a lot there, and the whole LP is worthwhile.

If I didn't know better I'd swear I was listening to Dylan...in the words of the 9th Doc: "Fantastic!"
Boss track . Boss band.
After this track I typed an R in the search bar and Richard Hawley came up. It knows it friggin knows....
Like the sound of them, very refreshing
these are the best band since inspiral carpets,
in my humble oponion.

Class song!
Absolute quality!
Love it, Love it, Love it
@WASPS1867
Just got back from seeing them at the Buxtonm Opera House. They were superb.
@RoadCone411:
The house shots are almost definitely somewhere in South Manchester. Other than that, I'd guess Wales (maybe the Llŷn Peninsula)?
Just had this on repeat. Great song. Which loser chose the dislike button? Mug
very good, man.
Really like this tune, lovely word's to ponder on, it remind's me of Bob Dylan
Quite a bit filmed on Anglesey:-) I know what I'll be playing in the car when I'm near Porth Dafarch/South Stack.
I heard this song on am emergency ambulance programme and scrambled for my phone
Magic...
This song is a trap. It won't let me to hear what the rest of the album is about, I have to listen to this one thirty times over before I'll even begin to explore the song no. 2.
Love
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cannot wait for the album ! Does anyone have the chords to this song please? Awesome!
@Echolyktuz , no it is not .I am Kloot is the name of the band, I have seen them and have the album.This song is called "Northern Skies"...ok?
Hope these guys win the Mercury prize
Special tune, like it.
Has Christopher Eccleston only done 2 of their videos, why is he doing them?

do you fancy a drink, i know a place called the brink,do you wanna go there.
The Brink is by ours rehab place but even so 3 meanings for a lyric rocks.
@martcarey
I am Kloot is the tittle of the song.

@maireadre
Agreed, Christopher Eccleston will always be my Doctor.

"Literally - RUN!"
@jumpintheriver2 different chords different beat different timing diferent words in actual fact a completeley different concept. If it reminds you of bobby mgeee that can only be a masif compliment to these guys as both are fantastic songs
He sounds like the decemberists guy in this song in my opin. Pretty qual.
My dad's song at his funeral
Not another car on the roads (except for a Ka near his house). Amazing - what part of Britain is this in?
@8Rincewind ...only because he is a mega fan of the band, he has even acted as a roadie for them and does all this for free...top man, top band!
@strongtheme I can see where Jump is coming from. Although I think it's more like Snowbird by Anne Murray.........
I think it sounds like Willie Nelson singing a Dean Martin song - Gentle On My Mind.
I like this though. Well done lads.
@Dan37064 yes you're right it does x
an introduction to a guy who should be famous
I just hope that Christopher Eccleston locked his caravan properly, thus avoiding loss of tea, coffee and snacks.Lets face facts here , this needless theft of photographs would not have happened had the lads from I am Kloot locked their Mercedes Benz.Come on lads, lets think security here.
