When I have tried premixing colours I always end up with it all still on the pallet at the end.
i like your refference to the impressionists' goal; not nailing local color but getting all the values in sight on point
Hi Paul
Thanks love the explanation of local colour, how true .
Thanks again enjoyed this one very much.

I am relatively new to Paul’s channel and am systematically viewing the videos in order. Mr. Producer would you create a playlist based on the year? The length of the playlist is cumbersome. A playlist of demos that show the entire process from start to finished work would be welcomed.
Thank you both for producing these videos. This is as close as I will get to being in an atelier with a master. I humbly thank you for the a-priori and post-priori offerings. Vast knowledge and experience are combined in you Paul-a master artist and a master teacher. You are God’s blessing to me and much appreciated.
Yes, I would like to know more about Benson's writings.
Hi Paul! I am painting with opaque watercolors (gouache) and I am trying to get the visual qualities of the japanese animation backgrounds (movies like Howl's moving castle). I have seen a few videos on how they do it. Their method seems to be heavily based on preconceived or established color combinations. I am trying to get a similar result as them, but by using your boston school method as a model. Is it possible or compatible with gouache? If so, do you have any suggestions for me for the layering process? By the way I am a big fan of your channel. Thank you for your amazing content :)
Please how can I make study after a painting for a master artist ?
Are you asking where you might study or how to make a copy. If the latter get to the museum or to a gallery and copy there. email me at ingbretson_studio@yahoo.com

Colour + Edge + Contrast + Combination + Effect Relations + Spacial Relations
Local Colour vs Immediate Colour
Colour Movement - changes in temperature of a colour
Riley method of drawing
Get the values right at the beginning by hitting the colour notes correctly
Spot colours around to get a theme to improve colours by context.
Articulate those points - continuity
Highlight vs Strongest Light
Read the Quotes of all the Masters
Observe the Visual Order vs. Create the Visual Order - Blur your eyes to find Focal
Context gives truth to what you are painting. You are not creating the visual order.
Things that may make an area dominant (centre of interest): Silhouette, Busy Things, Rich Coloured things
Spotting: distribution of lights and darks
Thank you Paul and Mr. Producer!
I like to paint really large so I mix up little vats of colour to get the big picuture and then adjust with glazes. I'm wondering, do you ever change the shadows in your paintings to make the darks create more interesting patterns? Ive seen other artists do this in landscape painting.
