I wasn't there to get this book in-person back in '85 ( I wonder what I was doing that I couldn't be? ) but I did buy a copy from this event a couple of years ago on ebay. What a treasure! My copy has Ed's signature in red, which seemed unusual, but this video clearly shows Ed signing the books in red, so I feel vindicated. Probably my favorite Abbey book!
Never met Ed though we had one or more mutual friends, but Robert and I went to each other's parties back in Cleveland in the 60s. Great memories. And he's in a great band (last I heard) - Les Primitifs du Futur. (And did the album covers of course.)
I bought a copy of the 10th anniversary edition from Mr Sanders back in the 90s, not signed unfortunately. Solid it for rent and bills like all precious things.
One of the sharpest and most underrated literary figures of the late 20th century. Sad a film adaptation could never see the lighh of day.
Agreed
Crumb looking sharp back then... What an icon..
Two counterculture greats.
Incredible! 🤩

Those signed books are a treasure. Crumb very rarely signs anything as far as I know

Mr seldom scene Sanders himself makes a brief appearance @ around 1:10-1:15
If you sabotage a bulldozer you are a terrorist, if you bulldoze a mountain you are a hero of capitalism.
Capitalism+Communism are two sides of the same coin. - Gary Snyder
Copies are now over $70 on Amazon :(
Lisez Crumb et Abbey !
Edward Abbey would be dead 4 years later (January 29, 1927 - March 14, 1989).
Both left handed.
