Awesome episode! The last time I saw Lake Chelan was back around '78, took the ferry to Stehekin and fished/camped on the river. Absolutely the best cutty fishing I've ever seen. In fact I dropped my jar of Pautzkis eggs in the river and still caught fish all day with little pieces of my red flannel shirt! This episode has brought back some incredible memories!
It would be nice if the hatchery continued to produce Chinook fisheries by improving the plankton bait, Mysis Shrimp, and crawdads a freshwater scuds that would help the chinook to grow.
The science is sound. The State of Washington is dragging ass because broodstocking is more expensive than creating the 6 poun Frankenfish. The agencies that souround the fisherys n the PNW are a bunch of corrupt scum.
After seeing multiple videos on fidhing, I've seen plenty of terrible catch-n-release technique , you guys did great a great job. Keep up the great work on the videos. Happy Holidays from Alaska.
Another reason I need to go up there, looks a hard but very rewarding fishery! Mostly I'd just like to catch some Burbot, though....bucket list fish. I've caught landlocked Chinook, though not of that quality!
What bait is Joe using?

Joe is an awesome guide, I enjoy going fishing with him every year!
Joe loves Joe
why 200 ft behind the down rigger ball wouldnt that make it come up probably 50ft or so from your target depth??
I have wanted to fish for Chelan nooks for YEARS! So jealous.....
Just stopped by the tackle shop! Live in Lake Tahoe but was passing through for work. Love the content!
Awesome! Thank you!
ocean chinook>land locked chinook
ALL DAY EVERYDAY!!!!
I like how he talks like he knows something about chinook, but doesn't know how to pronounce "chinook."

What speeds are you going to cover a spread like that?
Dang I wouldn’t even want to kill those tiny little chinook that are reproducing naturally out there
I thought I knew about controlled depth fishing. What a complete rookie I am!
Wdfw needs to be smart and put broodstock programs on our steelhead rivers that are “struggling”

dang these people are professionals, i dont even know some of the terms they are using and i have fished years for salmon and trout

Why would the state stop stocking them?
Gonna go out on a limb because I don't know, but? They are reproducing naturally, so why spend the money?
