    That was such a perfect day for riding. Heck, that would have been a great day to just hang out at the end of the 3rd finger. Mid 70s temp, cool breeze, not a cloud in the sky.... Hard to believe we were there in the middle of such a beautiful day and only came across 3 or 4 people riding the trails.

    When I rode the Carter Road Trails 9 years ago on a rigid singlespeed I was in over my head. Looking back, that trip was a turning point for my life and was the beginning of something great. It's great seeing those trails again.

    When I was much younger, like 1998, this was my go-to ride location back in college @ USF, GO BULLS! Does any here remember the GRAN CANYON in Brooksville? I went to so many races there and saw so many gnarly wrecks, that place was insane for 1992-94.

    • @MrTonka
      @MrTonka 6 років тому

      I think i rode there once. There was a moto track at the entrance, right?

    • @pedalsandplants5725
      @pedalsandplants5725 6 років тому +1

      I don't remember that but, I was only there for MTB races. There were many races there back in the 90's, it was private property and the owners were always worried about injury and insurance. Do you remember the awesome trails at Reddick?

    • @MrTonka
      @MrTonka 6 років тому

      Maybe it was Reddick that i only rode once. I remember riding some sick trails up in that area a LONG time ago. But again, only once. Up until July last year i had only ridden off road trails a hand full of times.

    Everyone needs a friend like Joe... Carter rd park, the trails that made me love MTB... Finger #2 was my challenge, it sketched me out on that drop... Back when that drop was nothing but steep dirt.... And that was a small gator... Lol, u guys were close to lake parker, there u may see some bigger gators.... Its the most gator infested lake in central Florida, and my old jet ski spot.. Lol

      Yeah, that drop on #2 wasn't even there last July. I rode Carter for the second time about a month ago and that one took me by surprise. I thought it was just a roll and i didn't have my saddle down. Made it, but it was less than comfortable with my saddle all they way up. haha

      That's what I was sayin'! couldn't believe I had never been; all around just a super pretty place to ride in the sun during the dead of winter!

    What an amazing looking place, those alligators tho!!! Maybe you locals are used to it but it would scare the crap out of me riding techy stuff like that knowing those things are everywhere!

      Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous after seeing that massive one down there!

      I used to warn people about sharp turns or steep climbs with nothing but swamp on one side, but i quickly learned that tends to have a negative impact on that section of trail. I definitely don't tell them that the water is about 20' deep right off the edge of the trail. i.e. fall off and lose your bike forever. haha

    The people that built that trail have definitely maximized the potential of the terrain.
