This song has restored my faith in good songwriting. Beautiful
The band on this was killer. They way the drummer used mallets and muted the drums. The guy playing the saw and the tin whistle. The sparse and precise marimba strikes. The violinist's pizzicato. A fender bass 6 layered in unison with a nylon guitar, its like real studio production made for the stage. All unique elements that made a great aesthetic basis for Beth's voice.
The composition here is pretty Bach / Beach House-y beyond the vocals. Great jobs all around.
Beth's voice is so timeless, this album is such a unique thrill, continues the heritage of Portishead 🙂
I can't believe so much time has passed since I listened to Beth for the first time. And fortunately she's still around, making excellent stuff.
I simply love this voice for 30 years now and the mood which beth is creating! This is so good - it get's me to tears! Keep going on Beth!
Time goes by, Beth's voice is still charming.
One of the most unique voices in the world. Such a great album. Please tour the States Beth!
Beth’s voice sounds amazing!
I am so god damn happy that Beth is back
This song and album came to me a day after my father died. Thank you Beth Gibbons and your wonderful musicians.
What a beautiful and powerful song!
I love Beth's emotionally expressive singing on this fabulus and timeless song.

Thank You ❤
Welcome back.
Fantastic 😊
Muito bonito...
😎 Cool !
Очень надеюсь , что я умру с этой великой эпохой.
OMG!! James Ford on drums
Seen! Also Pulp’s touring violinist on her band !
Correct me if I'm wrong but I had seen somewhere that the drummer from Talk Talk was working with Beth, is that the drummer that you mentioned?
@@StephenReid-hk8hs that's Lee Harris. She worked with Talk Talk's bassist, Paul Webb, (who used the pseudonym Rustin Man) on her first album in 2002.
...Ahh, found it:
"He played drums on the Beth Gibbons and Webb album Out of Season (2002)"
&
"He co-produced Beth Gibbons' 2024 solo-album Lives Outgrown and co-wrote four of the songs."
co-written tracks off LO:-
"Tell Me Who You Are Today"
"Burden of Life"
"Rewind"
& "Beyond the Sun" (my fave off the album)
Lee Harris - additional engineering, additional production; Beth & James (Ford) main producers & engineers (excluding this 1 track for Beth)
@@ManWalksDogs cheers for that, wasn't 💯 sure but knew I heard something to do with Talk Talk 👍
@@StephenReid-hk8hs
No problem.
Rereading what I'd written I could've been clearer though:
Both Lee Harris (drums) & Paul Webb (bass) were from Talk Talk (the singer Mark Hollis sadly died in 2019 btw).
Post-TT lee & Paul formed .O.rang whose first album, Herd of Instinct (1994), had "guests on the album including...Portishead singer Beth Gibbons (who at the time applied to become the group's singer, before Portishead's growing success removed this possibility)."
ありがと😂
Stunning
Emma Smith on Violin
Love it but can't listen to it, it takes me to depths I can't deal with right now.
Sounds very Sergio Leone
Isnt anyone noticing that they are playing it so much faster than the album version? If this is because of the TV show not wanting to give them the 5.26 minutes the song lasts, they should be so ashamed 😡
honestly didn't notice, but yeah 4:05 here vs 5:27 for the music vid; i might try playing them side-by-side...
ps. doubt the Later... producers made them play faster to fit a schedule though tbh
@@ManWalksDogs Now that I double check, they are playing it faster in all live performances (which is a common practice), so my bad blaming the show. Its just the first time I've noticed it.
СЛАВА УКРАИНЕ
betty legend ... why 16 years without music .... you look like a 95 year old granny i cant believe it , i feel terrible because l love your life , and your anthem video "sour times" 1991
What a spiteful comment. She looks great for a 50+ year woman and her voice and his song is still amazing. It’s refreshing to see a woman not filled with Botox and trying to ape a 21 year old ( and why should she?).
what a horrible thing to say
You really aren't allowed to age anymore. It seems to be a crime now.
Why is it so bad to age? We all age. Did you even listen to the music?
Beth is nearly 60 and looks great. There’s also been plenty of music in classical music and in collaborations, which a true fan would be aware of.
Who else is also disappointed she didnt use any electronic sounds for her new record? I feel she forgot to have fun. It's too rustic.
I think sacrificing her artistic vision by incorporating “electronic sounds” just so she can appease folks like you be would be less “fun” for Beth. Or is your fun the only thing that matters?
Also, why did you feel it necessary to make your critique so personal?
I think these warm, engulfing sounds fit perfectly the maturity and message of her songs.
I believe she may have wanted to divorce the sound from what she may have been associated with in Portishead. Artists often eschew what they are "known" for on different projects.
@@xxczerxx💯% agreed... ✌🏻
@@albuseverus You're absolutely right! ✌🏻&💜 This is so clean.😇🙏🏻
She's aged about 50 years.
And i guess you look exactly the same?
Well time passes.
She's beautiful and maybe you should comment on the music, if you even really listened?
Shes beautiful. Hate to break it to you, but you will age too
Muito bonito...
