We are very happy and grateful to MC for pointing out the problem with this knife. This will help us optimize and upgrade and make better products. Our new batch has improved the problem that the button lock cannot be opened. Thank you for your concern and support. I wish you all a happy life.
I think a disassembly would have benefited you on this one. The button lock is not the issue with the action here. This model has a small sprung detent ball on the liner. That’s the “drag” that you feel.
I agree that MC should have looked into the internals. I actually love this knife. I put a drop of oil on the liner detent and my Rhino slow closes so nicely. It is not a fidget knife and the detent holds the blade just tight enough to drop shut slowly. This was done on purpose and not all button locks need to drop shut, and it actually reduces the bounce out of most other button locks when closing.
I should have. You're right. I hate it anyway 😅
@@metal_complex Agreed. I think it’s an unnecessary feature, as the detent on button locks have already been figured out. I guess I’m just saying that a more fair criticism would have been one about the detent system design, as opposed to chalking it up to poor quality. 👍
@@g.dilla.kind of like the TDS on the ZT 0707 ? It is 100% unnecessary. 🤫 but it makes the knife less fidgety for the hardcore tactical dudes 🤜
@@g.dilla. Every button lock I've handled has a light detent, though. It's not like Remette was trying to solve a complete non issue; even if they failed on execution. Snappy button locks are the dream.
However they shouldn't be shipping knives like this. It shouldn't have passed prototyping.
Just got mine and ordered based on another review that was very positive. I have zero of the issue shown and listed, very smooth and I purchased this looking for my first budget button lock. I'm very pleased and seems from the comments the company listened and revised the knife. Mine is super smooth and swings super free when you press the button.
Remmette did something a little different on this knife. Unlike most other button lock knives with instant free-drop action once the button is pushed, this knife has a a mechanism similar to a liner lock with a detent ball which prevents it from having the instant free drop action of a traditional button lock knife. The blade is meant to be deployed via the thumbstud and will not free-drop deploy by pressing the button lock. Mine did come with slightly grimy internals which contributed to the poor action out of box. I took mine apart, cleaned everything up and polished the contact surface of the detent ball. Now mine has a glassy smooth closing action similar to a well tuned liner lock knife when I press the button.
Our new batch has been changed to one that can be opened and closed with button lock, and it will be launched in the next month. Thank you for your attention and wish you a happy life.
Ok hear me out....metal complex + beez friday livestream merge and its called...u ready for this?...Metal Bees....
I like it
Ha ha That sounds pretty good
Here is the issue. It has a safety lock. My blade does fall better than your but it’s made this way. You cannot hold the botton down and swing the lock open either like most button locks. see what Remette says. Safety Button Lock --- Pocket knife adopts ceramic ball bearing pivot, and the bottom plate increases the frame structure to control the opening and closing speed force, so that the button lock only provides closing operation, thus preventing the knife from being accidentally opened in the pocket.
Our new batch has been changed to one that can be opened and closed with button lock, and it will be launched in the next month. Thank you for your attention and wish you a happy life.
Great, so send me one. I have the old version and wish for the new version. Thanks.
Thank you for the review. I bought one of these last week. I don’t have this issue with mine at all. I’ve been carrying for a week. I like it.

@@remetterhino I’m actually happy with the one I got from the original batch but will be checking out all of your new stuff. Thank you!
MC: the action is bad
Everyone in the comments: you don’t understand, they made the action bad on purpose!
My exact thoughts lol. I'm going to take the thing apart in tomorrow nights live to show everyone what's happening, and then conclude with "and it still sucks"
@shepherd2148 wish I could see the look on your face after you realize I did it before you could reply lol 🔨
Get dealt with.
I have two. They have NO issues. The unique one way button doesn't bother me a bit. I have taken both down for maintenance and they are good. This is a light duty knife, as are thousands of knives we love. Sorry you got a bad knive. The action and Wonderful fidget factor are Great on mine. Full stop. ✨😼
It has a small liner with a detent on the inside that's only for the opening and closing action. That's why the action is like that
Our new batch has been changed to one that can be opened and closed with button lock, and it will be launched in the next month. Thank you for your attention and wish you a happy life.
I purchased one on sale 50 percent off and it works great no button stick at all.
Yeah same here. Button lock acts like any other button lock now. Love this knife. Very slicey, opens great via thumb studs, front flipper, and button. Ergos are great also. Micarta feels better than Civivis.🤷🏼♂️
My argument, siding with you, for the lock drag or whatever sucking is if you have a bunch of knives on rotation that close like they should and you put this in the rotation, it's gonna be even more frustrating. I have a handful of Benchmades and one Spyderco. All except my Benchmade Barrage, because it's assisted open, fall shut with very little help. If you're used to that you just pull the lock, it falls shut and goes back in your pocket. If this is half closed you could hurt yourself doing that.
I wish you did my yearly work evaluation. Even when you're dogging a product out you still leave a small glimmer of hope!! Lol
Appreciate your honest reviews! This is a big miss when the CJRB button locks are the competition, among others.
I have multiple versions of this knife and have ZERO of the issuers you are showing and talking about. The action on mine are smooth and spot on. I have ZERO wiggle side to side or up and down. I honestly have no idea why or how you have 2 knives that have so many issues. I’m very surprised that Remette would have sent you a 2nd knife to replace the first (If I understood you correctly) that wouldn’t have been looked over very closely before sending.
In my experience with Renette has been great so far. I personally have 7 of their knives and I have purchased a few others for gifts. It’s sad that you have had such a bad experience with these knives. You have a large following and sadly this will hurt the rep of these knives. I’m not saying you didn’t give a good and honest review. It’s just sad that the QC was lacking on the knives they sent to you. :-(. Don’t get me wrong. Remette isn’t my favorite or even in my eyes close to a high end knife but I thought possibly I had run across a diamond in the ruff so to speak on a good higher end lower lever to med level knives.
I have to agree about that captive pivot situation.. it's incredibly annoying and it runs the risk of scratching the knife as it slips out of grip.
Cant you just close it and press on the spine of the blade to get around that? I've always done that with free spinning pivots.
I own this knife, for me I've beat that crap out of it. So I guess I'm one of those guys! Dropping into place doesn't bother me a bit for the price I payed! Now if I payed over $100 it might bother me a bit!
This is why I love your channel! I've seen nothing but great UA-cam reviews on this knife from other reviewers; however, the reviews from actual consumers is on par with your assessment. Thank you for always keeping it real. 👍

Seems like button lock action has been perfected by Pro-Tech with the Malibu. I’ve never heard anybody say anything negative about the Malibu.
As an owner of the Malibu, I concur. The action is superb!
And the sound it makes when opening is even better. Such a satisfying little 'ping' when locking in place.
There appears to be a detent in the liner on the opposite side of the button that keeps pressure on the blade to prevent too much free swing (almost like a liner lock). What you are describing seems to be by design, Idk(?)
Thanks. I almost bought one of these a couple of days ago. Decided to hold off. Glad I did

I almost pulled the trigger on the rhino until I learned about the detent ball thing from the reviews. I really like the profile though
I also have one. The button lock is definitely a strange design. Cannot be whipped out with the button at all on mine. Mine also closes easy, but the button only works to close the blade. It's like they did it on purpose on mine. Mine clicks closed and holds closed no matter the pressure on the button. It will not fall out without using the stud. Cool look, disappointing action. Thanks for the review

someone's in a mood today 😂
That one doesnt have "plunge drag", it has a real detent ball if ya look closer at the liner
Thanks for always advocating for lefties. It sucks when a beautiful knife comes out that i love that isnt left pocket friendly. Not this one particular but theres so many ive had to pass on because on ambidextrous clip
I appreciate you making videos like this. I like the looks of this knife and I could see myself buying it on a whim. I think I’ll pass for now. Thanks!

I could probably think of some reasons why knife sales would be extraordinarily hot right now...
Great knife! Thought you might have took the time to look at the knife for this review, but you didn’t. Use your tools and oil like you do with your expensive knives.
I love my Rhino it's great
I sent mine back because the front flipper would not deploy, no matter what I did, didn't even make it to the lock stick...
For that $55 I would purchase a Civivi, CJRB, Sencut or Vosteed first for sure! 🤠👍
Interesting. Based on the comments it sounds like an unpopular design choice rather than poor QC. Like Remette asked, “Who wants a safety button lock with a detent?” And MC answered, “No one, ever!”
He said the buck110! We need a Buck 110 button luck 😤
Mine works great I love it
Like you said, it's not just about the fidget factor. It's about being able to open and close with ease and without even thinking about it. Otherwise, what's the point of getting a button lock.

Thank you MC. Some versions of the Pyrite can be had for under $50. No need to give this a second thought.
The action on the black one actually seems slightly worse, not that either are great
I like button locks that force two handed opening. This knife reminds me of that a little bit. There is still a strong culture in some places of the industrial park where fast knives mean danger, and people say crazy things. Recently, I made a joke about someones logoless van, and they said I better watch out or my throat might get cut. These people say things like that around money and then knives can get you into trouble if they are fast,, it's nice to have something that slowknife people can like to be around.
wut
@@Stahlwerk88 exactly
The way that closes is pretty similar to how my Bugout closes, and it's why I never want another Benchmade knife. Imagine paying $170 for a 3" knife with plastic scales and it closes like that.
Yeah, I made the same "mistake" with the bugout. I mean, it's a decent knife, but definitely not one of my favorites
First double clutch now button drag. All my budget knives are ruined. 😫😂👍
I had the same issue with mine and returned it. Too bad, good looking knife and and materials. I have a couple other Remettes that are quite nice.

I can't remember where I heard it, (beez or Stassa) but they are fixing the button
Renate themselves were saying that in a couple Reddit threads, for what it’s worth.

Soooooo not going on the most recommended playlist then?😅
The plunge drag typically comes frome 1 of 2 things. Only one can be fixed by home adjustment. The other is machining.
1. The stem length on the plunge is too small, this doesn't allow for the plunge to clear the spine back into the scale OR if you push to far the other side of the button starts causing friction as well.
2.) Like he pointed out, tight pivots. But I'd it is in combination with the stem, you will just end up with blade play and the same issue.
Can you recommend a good front flipper with a fuller or cutout for multiple deployment?
Gas station quality is my favorite lol
Thanks for another honest review
You wanna talk about BAD action? My ohlone goat is freakin terrible. When i pull the axis bar back, blade just stays in place and doesnt fall at all. I have to swing it hard. $260 knife and sucks. I have the black Remette rhino and the action is way better then yours. It sticks a little but not terrible.
I hated it too.. returned it the same day I got it.

Yeah that seems like they need to tune the plunge or something in the manufacturing. I had similar issues with plunge locks and usually, it's because the scale is sitting on a bit wonky or the body screws need tightening/adjusting. But this Remette just seems like it is this way, and adjustment won't help it much. Bummer. Hopefully they improve QC from now on.
We'll take your suggestions and we've already improved some of the issues raised by our customers.
With the pyrite being on sale for 42 beans that blows this right out of the water
MC,My brothr in law just gave me this stride knife is this any good?
Maybe if you spend alot of time opening and closing these knives with a little lube they may get better? Glass kinda half full. LMFAO! No I'm convinced it's not good and I'll take your word for it MC. Glass kinda half empty. Lol..
I bought it a month ago... Hate it too
Doesn't have to be a good knife if the picture looks good online lol. Swiss tech cough cough
anyone have a count of how many times the word right was said?
I know right?
That's the main thing I like about you! Nothing but the truth. I definitely respect that.👍🇺🇲🤙🇺🇲✌️🍺
I think people who are trying to suggest, but you should figure out what is wrong with this knife have missed the point! You have two factory examples, both of which have problems! That means this knife is junk!
The un-needed thumb studs, the non-reversible clip (and by reversible I mean tip down), the too small of a blade, the non-captured pivot, the sticky action. All of that aside, that Arial Bold looking font for the "logo" is hideous and is a deal breaker. I'm out.
I have one.same problem.M.C.
