Hello. Thanks for the video. Is it possible to keep the factory radio cover with the new radio?
@provobeastaudio! Awesome. I might be ready to pull the trigger on my Avalon soon! Love the idea of not needing to retain the old factory radio and get an added backup camera. I'll text ya soon.
I just purchased a 2005 Toyota Avalon Limited with only 82,600 miles on it. It's truly one in a million car because it literally looks like it just came out of the showroom. The interior is a mint condition, there is nowhere or tear on any of the seats not even the driver seat and the exterior looks brand new for maybe three or four tiny little scratches that can be buffed out. Right before I bought it, the guy put two front struts, rotors and pads all around, he did the oil change and put four brand new tires on the car. And the nine speaker JBL stereo sounds really good and I didn't want to mess with it so I just bought a Bluetooth transmitter that plugs into the cigarette lighter, I attached the small screen to my vent then connected my phone to the transmitter through Bluetooth. I set the radio station to an empty station and then I set the transmitter to an empty station and I listen to my music from my phone with no issues. It sounds great. It saved me $200 or more on buying a new radio. I have had stereos and subwoofers in practically every single car that I have ever owned but the nine speaker JBL sound system sounds really good so I just wanted to keep it as is. I just wish the 8-inch subwoofer sounded better at higher volumes. But again, I could install a 10 inch or 12-inch subwoofer in a box with a 500 watt amp and run all the wires myself but the car is so nice that I don't even want to bother as I'm getting older I'm getting less and less into the Super Bass and super stereo installations. My last car had an Android radio with the built-in subwoofer and I just added a 12 inch JBL 1000 watt subwoofer in a box with an MTX 550 watt amp and it sounded good to me. Plus it was a small car so the single subwoofer sounded fine. I enjoyed the video and I will stop rambling on(I tend to ramble on when in tired and It's 2am). Good video, don't kill me for the super long comment and have a great weekend
We ain’t readin allat
I got one with 28k miles on it originally miles
This is so helpful just ordered a radio and dask kit and wiring harness for my 2008 limited. I appreciate you so much.
thank you for giving me ideas for my tacoma, am the 1 who loved the jvc 788, and was like where do i get the hdmi dongle, already in cart. and i replaced the aux/usb that came in truck so now i have that. thanks again.
You are a lifesaver! I'm getting a used 2006 as my first car, and this is the ONLY thing I want to do to it. It's beautiful and I am so excited to have such a good guide.
Had a 2006 Limited up to 220,000 miles before it got totaled and just bought a 2007 XLS because I loved the car so much. NOTE! In my old Avalon I removed the entire dash myself installing subwoofers and managed to dent/crack the dash around the silver plastic parts. Be careful with the dash removal pieces and make sure not to wedge between the polyurethane/vinyl and the silver plastic!
Great video! I want to try and install a pioneer on my 2006 avalon
Backup camera video coming soon.
Thanks for the nice vid! 🙂🙂
Would you have any recommendations for decent alternatives to the stereo in the video? I want to do this but not ready to spend $400 on the stereo alone😅
I installed one, but it sound sometimes like there is chiming coming from inside audio panel. Not a beep or beeping, but chiming. Also, it does not happen all the time I am driving. Is this a common issue with Avalons?!
It sounds like a high pitch wire sound?
I have the same system in my 2009 Limited, JBL with no Nav. All of the same products used in this video. My AC display is blank. Was there anything you did special?
Hi there! 2009 Toyota Avalon XLS here. Followed all of your instructions perfectly and everything audio-wise works great! The only issue I'm having is that I can't see the A/C controls in the upper blue screen. The AC buttons all work, I can change the temp and turn it off and such, but I can't see the temperature, fan strength, etc. Any ideas on what it might be? Thanks so much for your time!
I'm also having the same problem. I think it has to do with the dip switches. My radio is a "boss audio" and none of the recommended dip switches get me there. The one that works best is for the "other" brand with switches 1,2,3 on, but still no hvac on the screen.
Me the same. Did you resolve it guys ?
The climate control display problems are hit and miss according to Metra. A representative said there is no rhyme or reason why it works sometimes and not others, and he has even seen some work for a few months and then stop. The Metra harness to relocate the radio, which was used in the previous Avalon video, works every the time, and may be worth the extra effort. Despite what you may find online, it works for JBL and non-JBL systems. Again, that is directly from Metra themselves.
If I decided to get a cheaper version of the CarPlay radio would I need a different dash kit and etc or will all still be the same because $400 a little outa my budget
Is there any way to save the radio cover door ? Even if it calls for plastic soldering ?
I did not even see this comment but I asked the same question but thank you for bring it up before me, as this is a slight concern for me.
Great tutorial, i was planning on doing this for my 05 non-jbl non-nav avalon but when i inputted it on the crutchfield website it said it wasn’t compatible with this harness. Just wondering if it may be an error on their end and if this PAC harness is compatible with my non-jbl avalon
I was wondering the same thing I don’t want buy it and be wrong
I'm replacing factory jbl amplified system in a toyota avalon (mine is 2010 with jbl, no nav). Im using a Boss Audio bvcp9700a radio, using the pac radio pro 4 you recommend. All the wiring is connected and things almost work but the factory screen only shows some values. Shows things like door open but no environment controls such as temperature, hvac mode, etc. I contacted pac audio and they said "Sometimes tricking the radio doesn't work, with no rhyme or reason. If this doesn't work then the only solution is to relocate the radio." They basically told me to reinstall the factory radio, make sure the screen works correctly (it does) and then reinstall the new radio with the pac interface. They had me test the ohms between the two pink wire pins on vehicle connection 3. They are correctly reading a resistance of 69 ohms. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
It seems wrong to me to have to purchase this smart harness and still be forced to relocate the factory radio. If the original radio's 2 pins that align with the pink wires show 69 ohm resistance, and plugging in connectors 1 and 3 to the original radio makes the display work correctly, that suggests to me there's more to it than just those two wires. Help?
Crutchfield is sending me a resistor to connect between the pink and pink/black wires. Did Pac recommend that to you as well or did you ever get it fixed?
So I can keep the ac controls in my non jbl 07 Avalon without keeping the factory radio in the car? I just got one and don’t want to buy the wrong thing
hey man, did you end up doing the install?
I used everything you have on this video *JVC KW-M785BW stereo
with the *Pac RP4.2-TY11 Radio Harness Adapter on my 2006 Avalon limited with the JBL stereo and amp.
Everything works but the SWC controls for the volume/skip/mode , (the SWC controls for the climate works ).
the "Pac RP4.2-TY11" has two wires for the SWC. One Blue / Yellow SWC Output / Key 1 and One
Brown SWC Output / Key 2.
but the JVC KW-M785BW stereo has only one single wire for the SWC and I try using both wires from the Pac RP4.2-TY11 and neither works. any Ideas? thanks
Im having the same problem have you found out anything?
Having same problem with my kenwood HU
Where did you mount the gps? You said on the dash but I didn’t see it.
Awesome video
Help I got everything hooked up but I have no hvac display
You need to contact Pac Tech Support then.
About to do this on our 07 Avalon limited jbl how do you setup the dip switches?
Hey bro how do I install a Touch Screen Pioneer for a Ford Escape 2008
Send us a message on facebook or instagram and we can help.
How do you enter this blue main display in factory screen? I don’t k ow how to
Hello. Thanks for the video is it possible to keep the factory radio cover with the new radio? @provobeastaudio
Do you have to use the obd port? I would rather not
to pull data for canbus support, yes. You don't necessarily have to, but you might find things not working properly.
@ okay thanks. Im just worried about not being able to hook up my scanner if I need to do diagnostics while driving but i could probably get one of those dongles that has 2 ports on it
I installed a kenwood radio, but my screen touch automatically stops working even after resetting
At 2:58 seconds does anyone know where the tabs are so I can remove the last harness
Ok so….I’ve watched this video a few times and I’m not gonna lie, I’m a bit scared to try this on my own. I do have a quick question. Because there are criminals out there who want anything they can make a buck on, including stealing a radio from a car, is there a way to use the cover to close it and keep the radio covered so no one can view it?
Can I buy a cheaper dash screen Apple car play? I would still buy all the other parts
Does the cassette player still work? This is very important
Oh no, that becomes obsolete.
So do I still need to put my radio in the trunk if I don’t have the jbl sound system?
If you use the Pac module, no need to relocate the radio (with or without JBL).
Thanks cause every time I go to crutch field they say I need it
Where are you located?
Where did you get the screen
All linked in the description of the video.
How much is that ? Thanks so much
Sure, all parts are linked in the description!
even with the pacsun and wired correctly the top screen doesn’t turn on
do you have the non jbl or jbl sound system avalon?
@@vlomy5437non JBL
@@brokngangthe pacsun device is what helps retain the top screen without relocating the factory radio. on the crutchfield website, it says that the pacsun isn’t compatible with non jbl systems which is probably why your screen isn’t working. i’m not sure why he says it’s compatible with non jbl systems in this video though.
I’m having trouble with the factory radio wires in the trunk on my Avalon
Where are you located at?
