  • Its been over a year since we talked about Bring Me The Horizon! A bit different fare for what we normally have on the channel, but fun all the same! DiE4u is a very poppy track that combines elements of rock and metal to create a fun, anthemic tone.....with a backdrop of blood sucking vampires. Why not?! Lets hang out while I react to DiE4u by Bring Me The Horizon!

    Oli has come on leaps and bounds with his voice and when I saw this live at Sheffield on friday it sounded incredible without the processing on his vocal

    • @MetalCoreHog131

      For real. I remember during Sempiternal era when he couldn’t even sing live and Jordan did nearly all the choruses. It seems now he can actually do what he does on the record and I’m super impressed. He’s always been an S tier frontman but seriously has leveled up so much as a singer in recent years. Mad respect

      @@MetalCoreHog131 Oh man the Sempiternal era was rough at times, but holy shit it was like 10 times better vocally than the There Is A Hell era. Oli was so fucked up on drugs and burnt out around that time that he could barely do any vocals at all. He would legit lose his voice one or two songs into their sets. Really cool to see him come so far over the last 10 years

      I really don't get that thing about oli. Live concerts have a bit of processing as well, but many songs, even on Amo and Survival Horror, are songs I seriously think he can pull of, yet are FILLED with autotune, and it just doesn't sound as good as his actual voice in most cases

    • @Alphablight
      @Alphablight 2 роки тому +3

      @@ptr_does_music7042 I honestly thing they are trying to protect his voice as shitty as that seems. I give him credit. HE ruined his voice but they all stood by him and he evolved. Yeah his voice gives us hope when he screams but I don’t think he will ever reach Sempiternal standard

    At this point BMTH can do no wrong, not because something is objectively good or bad, but because personal experimentation is NEVER wrong. Is it preferentially good or bad? Sure, some may not like it, but it's always at least interesting and worth a listen or two to check in on what on earth they might be doing this time around.

    How do BMTH change genre so much so easily without it sounding awful? This has got to be one of their poppiest songs yet it's such a good representation of Oli's vocal talent as well as how the band has evolved

    • @somedogsarecops2354

      To be fair, they did this sound already on Amo in 2019. They just combined it with their guitar and drum tone from Survival Horror. Listen to Mother tongue or Medicine. Basically the same song.

    Jordan Fish (pianist of the band) taught Oli a lot of clean singing technique, and I would say he's the major responsible for Oliver singing this good right now, besides Oli, of course. PS: Jordan entered the band during Sempiternal creative process

      Maybe more like a caricative , overdone b pronounced by Native speakers of slavic languages? Transsylvania used to be partly in Moldovia, Serbia, Rumania, Hungary and I'm probably forgetting some countries, I've never been any good in geography - and well, that's the first place anyone thinks off when thinking about vampires. Thanks to gool ol' Dracula. It's also a lot like Bela Bartok's pronunciation in "Nosferatu" sounded like, if my memory serves me right. Great analysis. I think safe singing has a lot to do with sustainability. If you find yourself losing your voice after singing and not being able to replicate same sound/timbre each night on tour, then you’re probably doing something wrong. Singing higher notes (in this case Oli hits the A5 quite a bit) requires minimized air flow like you said, and a proper blend of chest and head voice resonance.

I have no problem getting false chord lows, and they don’t hurt. I also know that I’m straining to get my highs, but I can’t seem to find any other way to get up there. However, I also grew up listening to old school BMTH (Pray for Plagues era). Idk how I feel about this to be honest.
