Please VW, don't hear the 2nd advice from this guy, what actually does VW different is the conservative German design, stay away from Korean and other cars makers that make they cars looking like an electronic festival party...
Chattanoogans here. I bought a 2015 Passat yesterday 10/22/2015. I had a 2014 Jetta I traded in. I love my VWs and yes they cheated! But you know what ? They still make a darn good car and right now they are cheeeeeeep. I bought 2015 Passat limited tsi for $18999 sticker was $25600. Now they will recover if they continue to discount right now. The showroom was packed with folks buying these deeply discounted Passat. I did not have a color choice was the only downside. I love the car and btw they paid off my Jetta that I traded in.. Now how often does that happen. Rock on VW! Clean up this mess and make Tdi customers whole again!
+joegolden481 2015 Passat limited tsi for $18999?? That's a killer price tag! Who wants to buy a small sedan when they can have a Passat for that price? Smart choice.
+joegolden481 Along the same lines, I got a 2015 CC in october that stickered for $34,500 for $26,000, and then got a $2000 loyalty bonus because I'm already a VW owner. So I got a $34,000 car for $24,000, at .9% interest. I had to do it, they were practically giving them away. The dealership was selling cars like hotcakes and now, apparently, thank to all the discounting, US VW dealers are facing a severe lack of inventory.
Brandon Barnhill My friend has a similar deal on his VW Tiguan. I saw that car with top German built quality. It's never been such a good time to buy VW.
Yes they will still sell cars. This vw is tons better than most other cars. Refined good looking luxurious. I'm getting a golf r next month, I chose it over the focus St because it's luxurious and I want to support Vw.
+Kevin Choi yes it is. and you get more for the money. nice materials ,it's comfortable and has DSG. . and i like the looks better. we have yet to see the focus rs but the st has the same interior as a regular focus. if they do that with the rs it's not even worth 35k .
+Idol Pron cars improve as time goes by. ford was once a pile of crap and now they're pretty decent, bmw had failed pumps and motors at 20k miles, everyone is making things better and better. except range rover i guess.
+Idol Pron shut up with the kia shit. I've had 6 vw's and none of them ever broke down and even saved my life. kia sucks balls and Noone wants to listen to you.
+Idol Pron have you ever owned a VW, probably not and you're just one of the sheep following the crowds, why don't you take your stupid bias opinions and drive your piece of shit kia back to Korea.
This has become my new favorite family sedan with excellent driving characteristics. I actually look for them when I am renting cars these days, after enjoying one by accident. It is quiet, strong, handles accurately and its fun to drive.
I would buy a VW tomorrow. There screw up was not in quality or reliability. And for God sakes do not build Vw in Detroit. Keep building them in the south like u are now. I love German Engineering keep it up!
I dont own a car, and once a while I rent cars, usually like 6 or 8 different cars a year, and Ive been doing this for the last 8 years, I always ask for a midsize, and last year they had a 2016 vw rline passat available and for my suprise I loved it ! After 2 hours I was intrigued with the power, interior space, seat comfort, opened up the hood and realized it was a 1.8 !
Not sure about the models you guys got in the US but in Europe that silver Passat that rolled by was not the previous generation but 2 generations ago.
+DeCapito Family, THIS generation is the 1st where the American and EU Passat diverge from one another (may have had different equipment, but was the same car). Now the EU's is known as a B8, while the American is the NMS, both as different versions of the 7th gen Passat (the B7 is the facelift of the 6th one on both sides of the Atlantic).
technically the 2012-present US Passat is a stretched and updated PQ46 platform, the same that debuted the 2006-2010 B6 Passat. So yeah, that B5.5 was the last architecture of the US Passat
+soundseeker63 Technically, the B5.5 was the previous Gen. This is really just a face lift of a face lift of a face lift of the B6. And on that note, what the flying FUCK happened to the Passat? Or really VW in the US in general? I have a W8 Wagon, and I was super excited to finally be able to buy something as unique again with the R400, but diesel gate seems to have ruined that according to Mathias Mueller. Then, I thought if VW brought the B8 to the US with the supposed 3.0 VR6TT, a 6 speed and 4-Motion in wagon form, I'd finally buy another VW. But, alas, they give us this hideous, old, outdated garbage.
I'd say- German engineering is hard to beat. Don't change anything Volkswagen! Keep doing what you do best, beetle isn't what attracts customers. Keep building fast hatchbacks cool sedans and awesome sports cars.
It depends on what you mean by "better". If you mean that; My uncles 3 month old Gen 7 Golf breaking down twice in the week i visited him, stranding us both times on the M11 motorway My friend buying a used VW for 6.5k and him going through 3 gearboxes in 6 months or my aunts VW Continental (it's not a Bentley) needing over $20,000 in repairs in one year So if you mean VW are better at being unreliable, then I'd agree with you. Audi and VW have been my most costly car ownership experiences. I wouldn't mind but none of them passed 60k. Yet i did over 200k in my Toyota and all i had to change in that time was a rear wheel bearing @ 167k and a mid section of my exhaust, which cost me £30 to replace. My Golf with less than 60k, I was doing near £150+ per month in repairs. Biggest heap of junk ever! My 200k+, bar servicing, I don't think i've spent that in repairs in the entire time i've owned it!
you just don't understand what its like to drive a VW,#1,the have there traditional 1.8 turbo 4-cylinder ,with give better fuel economy than the average competitors. The Passat has its DSG 6 speed automatic transmission, which beats all the others in fuel economy. The Passat even offers a clock in the middle of the dashboard, and you will NEVER see this In a Japanese car. Asian cars will never offer this feature because the are really shitty. The vw isn't even close with competing with you camry, the Passat competes with the Audi A4,and the mercedez C-class. So go fuck your self with you Asian fuel-drainers.
I feel that many individuals who wanted a diesel powered automobile before this happened will still want a diesel powered car or truck. And while my saying this might not be too popular, I feel that the standards of the EPA are too stringent, and too damned difficult. Back in 2009, I read an article that said that several automakers were selling diesel powered cars and small trucks in Europe, that were getting ~65 mpg, including Ford Motor Company. But that these cars and trucks weren't permitted to be sold here in the U.S. because they did not meet the EPA's emissions standards, BUT those cars and light trucks did/would have met the EPA standards of just two years earlier. I am not suggesting that we go back to NO standards at all, but if the U.S. could have a nation of cars and light trucks that were getting 65 mpg, and the EPA kept this from happening because of a VERY SMALL emissions score, then in my honest opinion, the EPA, as well as most of the other alphabet soup agencies, are doing more harm to the country than good. And, in my opinion, the real automotive pollution problems in this country are from the older cars and trucks in this country, especially those old cars and trucks that are not properly maintained, you know, the ones that we all see every week or two, the ones with a giant cloud behind them. The ones that we see and think to ourselves that they must be using a quart of oil a week, or maybe even a day. All right, I've ranted enough. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts. Thank you.
Honestly I don't think they need to Americanize it more. German engineering is amazing engineering. I'll stand by Volkswagen and Audi till the end of time. They are and always will be my ultimate favorite car brands.
If you are worried about VW Golf emissions Perhaps you should consider buying a Emissions compliant Hummer or Heavy duty pick up Truck with a 7.3L diesel Engine Its called U.S HYPOCRISY !!!
It is called appropriate emissions bench marking for the appropriate vehicle class By your logic a truck, semi trailer and bus should be benched on the same basis with total disregard to their static average weight for their class. That .... is lunacy.
crxdelsolsir by my logic ,any private vehicle should follow the same emissions regulations. The way you imply or the word Truck, you are implying this 4x4 heavy duty pick Trucks with 7.3L Diesel engines are commercial, *They are not commercial vehicles* many are for privet use , they originated from a childish desire to Brag about " My vehicle is bigger than yours "
+nzchariboy Yeah, especially the W12. A car that can lose you more money than a coke habit, a gold digging wife and a foolproof roulette system combined.
These car reviewers all want the same thing, sportiness, and flash. But what about reliability, and durability. I own a VW Jetta 1.8 turbo, my first German car. It's been one problem after another. It has 73,000 mile now and has needed (mass air flow sensor, new injectors, new throttle body, a transmission problem VW doesn't know how to fix, a secondary air pump problem they can't fix, the Check Engine light is always on, the glove box has broken twice, and numerous other smaller problems, and the oil pan seal is leaking). I've been meticulous with servicing it, and have used Mobil 1 synthetic oil and all the best filters since I bought it new, just as I've done with my other vehicles. It also drives poorly in the snow, which is one reason so many people buy SUV's or 4x4 trucks in snowy or mountain areas, like where I live.
+ron mortensen Its all part of the "fun" of owning a VW. I had 2001 GTI with the same 1.8T and in the first 45k miles I had a turbo, AC compressor and auto tranny replaced, all under warranty thankfully. For the remaining 60k mile of its life the problems were pretty much limited to a couple MAF sensors, coilpacks and a few other odds and ends but nothing costly and all of which I replaced myself. Also had a power steering fluid leak but not bad enough to worry about. Finally at around 112k miles one of the cylinders developed low compression caused by piston rings which while the car ran ok for the most part it caused misfire codes and CEL light and would have never made it thru its next inspection. Decided it was time to trade it as I did not want to spend the $2k+ to rebuild the motor. I will say this, this car NEVER left me stranded. Even when the tranny went it was able to limp to the dealership in 2nd gear. 3rd and 4th were gone. I have owned 4 VW's over the years and I have a love hate relationship with them. I love driving them. IMHO nothing from the GM, Ford, or Chrysler or even the japanese have quite the same balance of driving dynamics that VW's have. That being said they are flakey where reliability is concerned and that the hate part I have for them. Currently do not have a VW but would I own another one, I can say absolutely yes. Guess I am a masochist that way.
drives great. UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS. Roomy, peppy for 1.8. UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS-like sitting on cement! Nice trunk space, UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS-OMG bring a pillow or shell out big bucks for better seats. Did I mention the UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS?
+Srdjan Smudja I skuplji je, a ima manje opreme. Amerikanci vole velika kola sa gomilom sijalica i da izgledaju besno, a ne bude prijatan. Ne smeta im ako je plastikaner.
+Srdjan Smudja, Could you please post a link to a picture. And I realize that this might be a silly question, but where are the European models manufactured? As I understand it, and I might be wrong, but I think that quite a few of the VW's sold here in the U.S. are manufactured in Mexico. I would like to buy a new VW, but I would strongly prefer one that is made in Germany. In my opinion, a German manufactured automobile would likely be a better automobile than one made in Mexico or the U.S.. Just my opinion.
LK Campbell Europeian has rear multilink, American has torsion bar. And in Europe we have Skoda Superb, which is Passat made in Czeck republic and it is cheaper , but mechanicaly same car.
My GTI has 520k+ miles, its easy to work on, parts are readily available and parts are priced like all the other cars. Vw makes good engines I'll tell you that much.
I bought a 2015 VW Passat about three months ago. I love it, came from a 2006 Audi A4 Cabriolet, also had a 2003 VW Jetta. This 2016 model is amazing I love it. VW makes great cars and very simple, classy. Most of their cars have a very conservative look to them. Which is why I think many people buy them. The american Passat isn't comparable to the European however I don't think that's VWs goal. I think those seeking a more agressive look should be taking a look at Audi! Either VW/Audi will ALWAYS be a better driving experience than a silly Toyota or Honda.
I drove and owned Chrysler, Ford, GM, Nissan, and VW. I have to be honest VW is much better than any other provider. For a reasonable price a consumer gets a lot more features and comfort.
I bought a 2016 in 2017. Best $20,000 car ever (yes that is what I paid). I've got 110,000 miles on it now and am selling it to my Daughter. I have put zero $$ into it, except for oil, brakes once, tires and a belt tensioner recently. I'm going to miss it because I love driving it as I love driving ALL VW's.
The 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Sonata ECO has a turbo GDI 1.6 L with 178 HP and 195 Lb. Ft. of torque @ 1,500 - 4,500 RPM. PLUS a 7 speed duel clutch automatic tranny instead of the 6 speed slush box. 28 MPG city and 38 MPG highway For less than $24,000.00.
I couldn't agree more with some of the comments below. DO NOT move Volkswagen to Detroit!! I just purchased a CC last month, wanna know why I bought it? because I love the German feel of it! if I wanted an "American" car then I would have bought a ford. German engineering is some of the best there is! they build sturdy, fun, stylish, reliable, safe, and solid vehicles and that's not something you can say about most American or Japanese vehicles. my mom has a EX-L Accord and my dad has a Ram 1500, both are great vehicles but when comparing them to my VW there is no competition. my car feels and looks much more expensive and drives totally different! I always tell people if you have never driven a Volkswagen, or any German car for that matter you really should! they're so different. that's why I say Volkswagen, stay true to your roots and keep building great vehicles in Germany!
I just bought a 2015 Volkswagen Limited with 4 miles on it. After driving it for a few days I noticed a wind/air leak in the right rear window/door. Contacted the dealer they did some test said there is nothing they can do at this point, I contacted corporate they said get another opinion however there is nothing they can do at this point. Needless to say not a very good first impression at a VW owner.
Move the headquarters to Detroit. It's all becoming clear. Bit like those focus-pull shots you do that start blurred and end up sharp, except they all seem to overshoot and have to back-up a little.
I bought..a 2016 jet TSI..I've had cars.. Bmw..Toyota... Honda.. Nissan.... Chrysler.....I drove the German made Vw....as of today I've had my jet.. for a month...boy..OH BOY.... THEY... IF THEY KEEP IT SOLID....😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥.....I love the way it drives ..handles...it will hug a curve like it was born to...I'm hooked ..and probably will be forever... It has it's minuses..like no separate switch for the fog lights...no auto cutoff for lights...you cannot lock the car..while it's running..it's a tad jerky in some takeoffs..a bit sluggish in other take offs ... the paint...if you don't wax..will peel..... Or fade quick...in spots...all..in my take... should come with a moon roof...mine didn't....other then that... Omg( in my higgens voice(Magnum pi😁) it's a killer a looked over demon that is made to drive .. very as one put it conservative in looks..but a head Turner..it will get attention...if you wish...to leave some one saaaay doing 70 ...80 mph...it will go get it...quick...most who do reviews of it will not admit...it's a maxima killer...a Altima dyestroyer...a Camrey,s worst nightmare... Malibu...Honda Accord...ford fusion.....Acura...Infinity.....the Matrix caddy.. the Regal...the c class Benz..3 and some 5 series Bmw.... Can kiss Vw,s ass...this car...if they maintain...will be king in 6yrs... 💯%.. hands down..😊
I'm a fan of by B6. The quality of it seems much better than my grandmothers 13 B7. Also I guess they don't make the Passat's stick anymore? I love my 6 speed 2.0t
The last recommendation made to VW was the worst one. The American mentality and the German mentality of producing cars are naturally very different. If VW were to move its headquarters to America the quality (German engineering) of the cars will drastically go down and you'd see cheaper parts like what dodge and Chrysler would use. Volkswagen, stay in Germany! We love your German engineering!
What are you doing in Vermont? I grew up about 30 minutes from where you filmed this. I have ripped those roads many, many times, mostly in a b5.5 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro. The road going over Smugglers Notch is fantastic.
Sorry guys, but this looks like just a facelift of the previous US market Passat (B6), VW introduced completley new car (B8) in the beginning of 2015 in Europe, new engines (top of the range 2.0 TDI with 240HP & 4Motion), a liot sharper look inside and out and more tech. Wikipedia confirms this: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Passat At least the price is nice :-)
TDI owners are some of the most passionate and vocal VW customers. VW needs to do a buy back program unless they can magically bring all the emissions into compliance quickly and without detriment to power or mileage. I think it really might be cheapest if they upgraded all TDI owners into a new gas powered VW, it's gotta be cheaper than all the lawsuits.
VW is actually taking responsibility with their mistake and saying they will do all that is necessary to make it right. While mistakes done by american car companies have most of the time been swept under the rug, denied any wrong doing or just flat out ignored known problems; And with american car companies were talking problems that were safety issues to the consumer, and while not passing emissions is a pretty big deal i think immediate safety concerns are more dangerous. and i mostly disagree with romans statement at the end of the video. still like the channel though :)
I highly doubt setting aside money for something you know you did wrong is responsibility, it's called planning they knew what the bell they were doing.
Jonathan Washington VW set money aside after they got caught cheating the system, this isn't something they were "saving up for". Your probably right that they knew what they were doing but at least they're willing to pay the price.
Jonathan Washington no, i believe it was basically their profits through the years were set aside for other uses. Which in this case we know where that money is going.
+Pedro Contreras You're way off. A cheat isn't a "mistake", it is the defrauding of people by intentionally deceiving them. On top of that, what VW did was completely disregard people's health in the long term. This actually all reaches a level of nefariousness that is way beyond a "mistake". While other companies have harmed people, there was no bad intention behind them more often than not, it was literally just a mistake. Also, there are examples of unscrupulousness, but anything widespread would completely destroy the companies and even the industry. Beyond that, claiming "mistakes done by american car companies have most of the time been swept under the rug" is just baseless and ridiculous. There's no way you can support that.
The one thing I like about VW styling is that is is conservative with simple straight lines and good visibility. They haven't gone the route of the big ugly gaping mouth grille and swoopy lines that all the other manufacturers seem to have embraced.
I loved the Beetle I have a 1998 and a 1999 I wish I would have kept the 1998 it had the lowest miles but I sure do miss it! It was great in the snow and was very good on gas! my friend had a 2001 turbo beetle and it had more problems than any other car I've came across..
+Blake Swan no the one in the video is a nice color I got it because it's a German car and its nice big on the inside has a lot of room and the price was good for a new car
The VW representative sounded like he actually knew what the hell he was talking about, which is more than I can say about a lot of the other ones you've interviewed in the past.
I actually like the conservative styling of Volkswagen, what prevent me from owning a VW is the cost of ownership. Make a VW add dependable and add cheap to own (maintenance, fuel economy, etc.) And I'll probably be going to VW for my next car.
The US spec Passat is not like many here think "of lower quality" then the German Passat. The interior finish is of top quality exactly the same way as the German, the difference is that the US Passat is suited for American buyers who like larger vehicles. As the VW brand itself is considered a "quality/value brand", some of the German Passat's characteristics are reserved for Audi as a luxury brand. Audi is struggling to keep up with big names like Mercedes and BMW on the US market, mainly due to poor reliability scores. Now when you look back in time, that's exactly what VW is supposed to be: Value/low price. Looks like exactly that changed in Europe, whereas a nice Passat goes upwards the 70-80k euro mark..
Hey TFL! Do you have any news or know when you will review the new 2016 Chevrolet's such as the Spark, Volt, Cruze, Malibu, & Camaro? I'm really excited for these vehicles to become available and can't wait for their reviews!
I actually appreciated his 3 point plan. The design hasn't felt complete to me as well. I wish they would've focused on making the ride better and said this is just going to be a solid car for cruising, because it's not sporty at all. I don't think they did anything wrong. But they definitely could come out guns blazing saying I'm sorry and using the American card, they do employ hundreds of people. If not thousands.
What does VW have to do in order to increase sales in U.S.? Provide industry's best warranty like Hyundai/Kia's 10 years/100k miles warranty. VW does not sell because people do not trust its reliability.
DISCLAIMER: I do not live in the U.S. I can somewhat understand the suggestion on engraving cars into American culture, although it still sounds a little idealistic. However, moving the HQ from Wolfsburg to Detroit? That's a pretty bold statement, implying that America is Volkswagen's most concentrated market. I'm nitpicking though, so back to reality.
I hate to correct you guys but it was not "americanised" it was "chinesed" since VW's primary market for Passat is now China. Its the same vehicle tho (for China and US market).
I totally disagree with Fast Lane Car on 2016 Passat video. Volkswagen should enhance its Euro design and engineering. This is what makes it most attractive to a lot of American buyers. In fact , the last generation Passat was somewhat better in performance style and accouterments. I couldn't believe that interviewer came out with those closing comments!
I also like this version of the Passat alongside with the original European B8 wagon body style! Looks like a mix between the Audi A4 & Mercedes-Benz C & E-Class! But too bad it never was sold in my country (Philippines).
Here's an idea Volkswagen: How about making your cars exciting again? Bring back the VR6 motor. Bring back the manuals. How about all wheel drive. GET. A. CLUE.
The real issue for VW to sell their cars even before the Disealgate is that that VW cars are seen as cheap German cars unlike BMW, Audi, and Mercedes yet priced like them in many cases, and the maintenance is expensive as well. So VW can't compete with other German brands in premium segment and can't compete with Toyotas and Hondas in prices.
All these features should have been included in the 2012 version as the competitors did. And like VW did in other markets. Its a little too late to be honest as these features are now showing up on Corrola, Altima, even sentra's to an extent and finally Civic. correct me if im wrong. While the Passat competes with Maxima, accord, and Camry, and fusion. A welcome addition that is a little late.
Many thx Roman for a very thorough review. You're so right that this car is somewhere in the middle of the attitudes it is about to show. With such a small engine It's not that sporty, lomousine like or having a highway prowess. To me it should have 2.0t engine of 190-200hp to start with. Of course I would not consider a VW diesel...;)))
The design needs to have more passion and more character like Camry or Accord. This is otherwise a very good car with conservative German style that may not look as good as Hondas or Toyotas but will look classic over the years down the road.
The real culprit of "diesel-gate" is the EPA and it's ridiculous over-the-top regulations. How DARE VW put the customer first by producing cars that perform better and get better mileage? The NOX pollution standards are absurdly rigid. Even Europe doesn't require the US' virtually sulphur-free diesel fuel. Europe doesn't require the god-forsaken urea fluid. The pollution fixes put into the diesel cars pretty much maxed out their efficacy around 2000. All subsequent reductions merely work on the tiny tiny remainder of the relatively innocuous emissions that were left.
people say that this car is boring. i like it its more of classy simple look. not everyone wants a car that tries to look sporty and edgy
They have...no idea.. what they're missing....none!!😥😁😁😥😥😥😉
Thank you
They are dumb or they are Ford's funs
I love my passat. I have a 2006 Passat 3.6 4motion. Really fast, fun, comfortable, pretty fuel efficient, and reliable. Gotta love VW.
Please VW, don't hear the 2nd advice from this guy, what actually does VW different is the conservative German design, stay away from Korean and other cars makers that make they cars looking like an electronic festival party...
I don't agree with roman when he says drape yourself in the american flag. German heritage is what makes a VW a VW, and they should be proud of that.

Yeah, I live in the Myrtle Beach area and my mom and I went looking at midsized sedans at dealerships and the Passat had discounts of up to $6700.
+joegolden481 Along the same lines, I got a 2015 CC in october that stickered for $34,500 for $26,000, and then got a $2000 loyalty bonus because I'm already a VW owner. good call, looks are better than most cars out there. it drives like a dream and is a top safety pick plus with all its driver assistance programs.
Could not agree more!
I drove one the other day and it's the best in its segment by far. Unbelievable car!!!!
I dont own a car, and once a while I rent cars, usually like 6 or 8 different cars a year, and Ive been doing this for the last 8 years, I always ask for a midsize, and last year they had a 2016 vw rline passat available and for my suprise I loved it !
The VW Passat is so much better than those gay Hondas and nissians.
It depends on what you mean by "better". If you mean that;
My uncles 3 month old Gen 7 Golf breaking down twice in the week i visited him, stranding us both times on the M11 motorway
My friend buying a used VW for 6.5k and him going through 3 gearboxes in 6 months
or my aunts VW Continental (it's not a Bentley) needing over $20,000 in repairs in one year
So if you mean VW are better at being unreliable, then I'd agree with you.
So go fuck your self with you Asian fuel-drainers.
mark rakov "
you just don't understand what its like to drive a VW,"
obviously reading is not your strong suit!
European Passat still far better👌
i know, but they american passat is still very well built
The Passat that drove by was 2 generations ago.
Thank you.
+LK Campbell That is a very good point. I have plenty of those in my hometown.
I still want one ! I was hoping for the GTD but with all this mess it may never happen.
Honestly I don't think they need to Americanize it more. German engineering is amazing engineering. I'll stand by Volkswagen and Audi till the end of time. They are and always will be my ultimate favorite car brands.
If you are worried about VW Golf emissions
Perhaps you should consider buying a Emissions compliant Hummer or Heavy duty pick up Truck with a 7.3L diesel Engine
Its called U.S HYPOCRISY !!!
It is called appropriate emissions bench marking for the appropriate vehicle class
By your logic a truck, semi trailer and bus should be benched on the same basis with total disregard to their static average weight for their class. That .... is lunacy.
crxdelsolsir by my logic ,any private vehicle should follow the same emissions regulations.
The way you imply or the word Truck, you are implying this 4x4 heavy duty pick Trucks with 7.3L Diesel engines are commercial, *They are not commercial vehicles* many are for privet use , they originated from a childish desire to Brag about " My vehicle is bigger than yours "
Funny, the 7.3 diesel and hummer aren’t in production anymore. Modern diesels have emissions systems that cut it immensely
I’ve had my r-line Passat since 2016 and it has 67,000 miles on it. Haven’t had any major issues with this car at all. Paid $21,723.00. Love this car.
bring back the Phaeton
+nzchariboy Yeah, especially the W12. A car that can lose you more money than a coke habit, a gold digging wife and a foolproof roulette system combined.
They won't because it is going to be the same thing as the Audi A8
+nzchariboy they sell the phaeton in asia. china and possibly india. why buy a phaeton when you can get a tesla.
+hyylo Phaeton sells pretty good in China actually.
+hyylo Because we better get rid of all this oil really fast.
The european passat looks much better.
+Srdjan Smudja And seems to have higher quality materials in the cabin too.
+LK Campbell actually, a lot of US sold VW cars are now assembled in Chattanooga Tennessee.
I just spent the weekend in two friends German cars, an Audi Quatro Wagon 3 litre, and a BMW 8 series V8; full of gagetry both powerful but souless
Hi TFLcar! I really love your 4K quality! Its absolutely superb! Keep it up guys!
Off course they will! Vw still builds one of the best cars these days!
Looks good and drives good. I want VW to bring back the 4 wheel drive camper van. Hear me VW !
That silver Passat was sweet.
That was a B5 Passat that passed. The model being interviewed is a B7.. In other words, it is TWO generations behind, and not "the last generation."
Always watch these reviews because the gentleman is tall enough to get an idea how the headroom is for ppl like me....
I love my 2013 Passat SEL VR6. Test drove both the Camry and the Honda. The Passat won hands down.
💯%.. hands down..😊
It's beautiful!
Can't believe how bad this looks next to the UK/European spec Passat, looks like the previous generation
It's got a very crisp appearance.
I wouldn't buy one, but if I were to, I think it looks really nice in silver.
So if you can't even remember the specs of the car, wtf are you doing pretending to "review" anything? GTFO
Wikipedia confirms this: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Passat
At least the price is nice :-)
Pedro Contreras I heard it was before.
I can't believe TFL Car was in Vermont... I saw one of the press vehicle going up through the notch!
I loved the Beetle I have a 1998 and a 1999 I wish I would have kept the 1998 it had the lowest miles but I sure do miss it! It was great in the snow and was very good on gas! my friend had a 2001 turbo beetle and it had more problems than any other car I've came across..
The one passing by was not the previous generation Passat. It was the one 2 generations ago.
I own a vw passat 2014 love it I would buy a new one any day the color is amazing on that one
+headcas620 no I wish I did
you bought it because of the color?
+Blake Swan no the one in the video is a nice color I got it because it's a German car and its nice big on the inside has a lot of room and the price was good for a new car
+Adnan .E. Hodzic That is a nice blue.
1guyin10 ya it is
There was a generation between the one in the video and the silver one that drove by in the U.S. for sure. My neighbors have one
I've tried the 300c, and I would say, 2012 passat has a bigger room than 2011 300c.
The VW representative sounded like he actually knew what the hell he was talking about, which is more than I can say about a lot of the other ones you've interviewed in the past.
by the way, that was not the previous passat, it was 2 generations back
I actually like the conservative styling of Volkswagen, what prevent me from owning a VW is the cost of ownership. Make a VW add dependable and add cheap to own (maintenance, fuel economy, etc.) And I'll probably be going to VW for my next car.
I don't know if I trust VW, or GM, or Toyota. :) But my 2015 GTI has been a solid, fun, and practical car.
I totally agree with your closing statements Roman.
Agreed
Love the look! I'm a Honda girl, but I really like the Passat other than the display. Please bring the European version to the US.
and i'm sitting here in my CV and loving the basic American car, it's clean looking interior and no screens to piss me off.
This is not a pretty or adventurous looking car at all, and in no way whatsoever does it look, or is perceived as sporty.
+/Dream Car Garage 1 (DCG1) To me it looks the same as the old one.
The V6 uses a regular automatic with tiptronic, not a DSG.
Roman, you are great man. Thank you for your job.
It's actually the Chinese market who drive the demand for rear leg room and will probably be worth more to VW in the long run than US sales.
If not thousands.
is the car quiet, not sure it was even mentioned which is extremely important for this segment
+frank james Is does not seem to be quiet. The NVH seems to be there. I'd rather take a Fusion or an Accord.
I like it....doesn't look that much different. I think I might invest in one and replace my 2012 that I currently have.
I will never buy a VW, but it doesn't mean I will never get an Audi (R8), Porsche (911), Lambo, and Bugatti (if I keep dreaming).
These are some good looking changes to the Passat!
What a stupid idea. Americans buy German cars, because they want a German engineered car, not because they want a domestic car.
What does VW have to do in order to increase sales in U.S.?
Provide industry's best warranty like Hyundai/Kia's 10 years/100k miles warranty.
VW does not sell because people do not trust its reliability.
BLACK ON BLACK IS SOO HANDSOME I LOVE THIS CAR DRIVES REALLY GOOD!!!
Conservative is GOOD THIS CAR IS CALMING RELAXING AND DRIVES REALLY GOOD
DISCLAIMER: I do not live in the U.S.
Roman, why would any company in their right mind, no matter how many problems they have, intentionally move to Detroit?
The first car I ever rode in was a Passat. Unfortunately, I'm not too fond of VW anymore...
I also like this version of the Passat alongside with the original European B8 wagon body style! Looks like a mix between the Audi A4 & Mercedes-Benz C & E-Class! But too bad it never was sold in my country (Philippines).
It drives me absolutely bonkers that the power symbol on the volume knob doesn't stay straight and spins around freely with the knob!
Here's an idea Volkswagen: How about making your cars exciting again? Bring back the VR6 motor. Bring back the manuals. How about all wheel drive. GET. A. CLUE.
Thanks for another great video Sir.
That chrome trim slapped on the rear bumper looks like aftermarket stuff...
So my step mom has this car, we went to the ford dealership just to see what the Taurus had to offer, the back seat felt way to cramped.. And slow
I like the simple look of the vw, but I do agree with the interior it could get boring quick.
Nice to see you drop some truth on them!
Smugglers notch! Same where MMUSA was partiality filmed! You guys got good foliage to film around.
I wish he could mention how tall he is when he talked about legroom in the rear
The design needs to have more passion and more character like Camry or Accord. This is otherwise a very good car with conservative German style that may not look as good as Hondas or Toyotas but will look classic over the years down the road.
Vw should bring the Golf GTE to the states which is a plug in hybrid and it might help there image a bit here.
Why isn't Nathan showing up on any of the reviews lately?
Can we get an GTI inspired engine please - the 2.0T out of the GTI would be nice with a manual standard :)?
agree. sad they dropped the manual transmission for this car. I love my 2012 with a 5 speed.
Good looking car!!! id get one if I had a family
280 hp? Damn that's almost as strong as the gm v6 that's been out for like over 5 years?.. Sweet!
