    The wonderful things you get to see in person! Thanks for sharing, for some reason I really loved the textile shop!

      My pleasure Melnie! That's one of the perks of living in a small country, it's fairly easy to travel around. Plus, there are several museums with good dollhouses. Yes, the textile shop is very charming, and it would make a very nice project to make ourselves. Or take inspiration from anyway. 😃

    That was a fascinatng tour of her roomboxes, thank you! I particularly loved the kitchen one. Was/Is yellow a common colour for kitchen furniture? I know you are making a yellow kitchen at the moment, so wondered whether it's a common Dutch choice? In Britain, back in the day (around a similar time as her kitchen roombox), I think green paint was the common choice (but I could be wrong -maybe that was a bit later...). Anyhow, a lovely video, thank you!

      Yes it seems that way! For centuries it seemed quite common for all of the woodwork in the kitchen to be that slightly mustardy or ochre-yellow. Not anymore though, yet one never knows when fashions change, and that yellow colour comes back.
      Thank you Kat! 😃

      Ah æbleskiver! Love them! I had those in Denmark before. Not quite the same as poffertjes but similar. 😃

      Mine too! I hope I'll be able to see the rest of her collection in that museum next year or so (if they'll exhibit it!). There are some other wonderful roomboxes in the Lita de Ranitz collection that were not on display here. 😃

    Thank you for your lovely tour of the room boxes. In the room with the family the furniture is made by Rock and Grainer and whilst it looks like wood it is in fact metal. It is highly collectable, difficult to find and very expensive.

    • @MakeMiniatures
      @MakeMiniatures  4 дні тому

      Really? I had no idea! Well, apart from the legs of the tea table which I thought might be metal. I'll have to look up the furniture. Thank you so much for the info Sheila! 😃

    I have a theory about the oversized paint brush. Perhaps Lita asked her husband for a small paintbrush and Willem gave her one of his not knowing what it was for. Lita decided to include it in her composition in honour of his talents or as a joke !

      That's a lovely theory Coby! Who knows... It could well be one of his real paint brushes. 😃

    Hi, wondering if Lady Lita left her miniatures to the museum or perhaps they are on loan from the family. Thank you Josje for the tour. Janine in BC Canada🎉

    • @MakeMiniatures
      @MakeMiniatures  4 дні тому

      Hi Janine, Lady Lita left her miniature collection (which is much larger than was shown at the exhibition) to the Dutch Costume Institute after her death. After that museum closed in 1984, the collection went to different locations over the years. Around 1988, the The Hague Historical Museum had the dollhouse restored and it was put on display. I believe it has been on display at the museum ever since. However, I think the other roomboxes and miniatures from her collection have mostly been in storage (all at the The Hague Historical Museum ). I have only seen a large part of her collection at a major miniatures exhibition XXSmall at the Gemeentemuseum (now renamed Kunstmuseum) in The Hague in 2011/2012.

    That was really awesome! I think I got emotional looking at the details in the kitchens. There is a historical representation in both of them that is so well captured and preserved all these years later.

    • @MakeMiniatures
      @MakeMiniatures  4 дні тому

      Ah, it is lovely to hear that these miniatures can evoke such an emotion!
      I find it touching that the yellow kitchen was made more than 100 years ago by two women with the same passion for correct representation and detail in miniature as many of us have. 😃

    Thank you for taking us on this tour! The kitchen was definitely my favorite! Have you ever displayed your canal house? I really think that every inch of it is more beautiful than these room boxes. And I just realized that I keep forgetting to ask you what happened to the last video of the canal house? I thought we were supposed to see the garden? I have never been able to find it. Thank you for taking us on this adventure, I really do appreciate the effort that you put into sharing these amazing works of art!

    Thank you Jose for another informative vlog! I love your style and your own passion for miniatures is so infectious. I have total kitchen envy now but this has given me more ideas for the design of my own mini kitchen, as have your canal house layouts. My youngest started university 2 weeks ago so I’ll have more free time to work on my house - any distraction so I don’t miss him so much 😢 Are you doing any Christmas themed videos this yer? I know they are a lot of work but they are fabulous, I’ll rewatch all of your previous ones of course. Greetings from Nottingham, home of Robin Hood xxxx

      My pleasure Wendy! Oh yes, your miniatures can be a good distraction from missing your son. A new phase in your (and your son's) life.
      I'm not sure if I'll have the time to do much for Christmas this year. The project I'm working on at the moment is pretty big and I have to be finished in December. Maybe something small...I just don't know if I can manage it this year.
      Thanks Wendy!

      @@MakeMiniatures I totally get it, lives are so busy and I'm a graphic designer in my real job si I know how long video editing and content planning take on top of everything else. Viewers don't realise how much effort goes into every post. I will get just as much enjoyment from re-watching your previous festive treats. Thank you again for taking the time to make minatures magical for us all. Sorry that sounded soppy 🤣 xx
