    I am in no way selling a weapon in this video, nor even using any weapon. This is simply a review of an historical firearm.
    Hello all, its World of the Arms here. I decided to try my chances again and buy a French M1874 Gras Cavalry Carbine from RTI (Royal Tiger Imports). I bought one while they were on sale for $200. Shipping was $50. I paid $250 total for the firearm. In this video I will go over the rifle which I received from them.

    I got really lucky with mine I got the rear sight and cleaning rod with very good rifling just needed a brash brush ran through it

      Wow, I think you need to buy a lottery ticket! You definitely hit the RTI jackpot! I wish I would've been that lucky with my Gras, but to be fair, I got pretty lucky with my Austro-Hungarian m1888/90 so I can't complain too much!

    I have a repro kit that I built of and American Indian trade gun. I dropped it once and the walnut wrist broke (expletive) clean off. I glued it back in place and used 2 wood screws as extra security. I then wrapped the wrist in a deerskin sheath for cosmetic purposes. What cartridge did they update this carbine for in 1880 ?

    • @worldofthearms6976
      @worldofthearms6976  Рік тому

      Oh nice! And they kept the same cartridge, the 11×59mmR Gras, but updated the bolt area so if there was a major malfunction, the shooter wouldn't be shot in the face with hot metal.

    How was the rear sight originally fastened?

  • @brasstard7.627

    You could put whatever sight you want and it would still be correct for Ethiopia lol, seen one that had a Lebel sight bronze brazed on

      True lol. I I've thought about even a Berthier rear sight for it. But I got an original sight ordered actually!

      @@offdeadeye88 I have been trying. Between the bank thinking I have fraudulent transactions and the seller for some reason requiring that I have some sort of French firearms license, I have struck out of luck so far. What confuses me is that I had ordered a MAS 36 Bayonet without any issue, but with practically a small cast piece of metal, I have to have a license. So Im still trying to find ways around but so far no luck!

    I bought one, good rifling, good body the only missing part is the rear sights but I am not going to buy one because the Ethiopians removed it from the rifle.

    I think the hole in the but stock were actually bullet casings that were cut off and nailed on.

    The cracked buttstock means the soldier most likely hit someone with it during combat.

    Sharp rifling and a cracked buttstock? Like most French guns, looks like it was never fired and only dropped once.

    Beautiful very historical weapon. Immortal rifle is been made to last, modern weapons there one time use with cheap qualitys. Well done. I have the same converted to 12 gauge shotgun, is working like an artillery piece.
