One of the most electrifying performances in rock history. Talk about someone being totally possessed by the unknown music force. Artery were brilliant. Still are.
I have this on 7" vinyl with 'into the garden' on the B side, bought it from a 10p pile at Red Rhino in York in the 80's.. Stunning stuff, good to see they're still performing
Great version,& there are a few of this song-but in my opinion the peel session one is by far the best, great long keyboard wigout-typically the only bloody version they never released.....-that does my head in!
-What they were about ? Limitation obviously ! And : All limitations are bad ! Many of the punk groups have expressed that; sometimes a sporadic listening followed by a cold intellectual (?) approach, might disorient some. Not all ! Thanks for posting Artery !
Saw them when they reformed for Meltdown in 2007 and was blown away, and again a couple more times. I'm wondering if their gig in the Lexington was their last one.. they seemed to have vanished again in 2012..
They're a fair bit more aggressive than Joy Division sound wise - I think it's mostly just because he does something kinda similar to Ian Curtis' "seizure dance" haha
Artery release their first LP in 25 years. 'Civilisation' on 10 October 2011. The title track is brilliant! Check their website and see great remixes too! Hallelujah! It's like Joy Division suddenly reappeared in our midst. Check their website for links
One of the best performances ever of any Sheffield band - and to put Wolfstatic right, Mark was not on anything whatsoever, except the natural high that performing gave him. Unless of course, I was so naive at the time and never realised - but I've never even smoked a joint in my life so perhaps I am not the best judge lol
We are very privileged to have had this recorded in its prime

IS THERE A SINGLE POST-PUNK VIDEO ON UA-cam THAT DOESN'T MENTION JOY DIVISION? FOR FUCK'S SAKE!

All those people that say this is biting JD style, I'm sure they all sounded similar back then. It's called a scene.

So fucking good!
did this line up have simon hinkler'who went on to be guitarist with the mission, great band artery though.
oh and its nothing like JD - use your ears people (much as I love JD)
PIL, Joy Division yes but still brilliant.
joy divinsionish
Before Joy Division, actually...
Debatable at the very least, cool band anyway.
easily debatable
Not before Joy Division by any means. Not that this isn't great, and Artery weren't brilliant in their own right.
wot no Russians?
simon hinkler playing keyboards glad he got to make original music with pulp and the mission this to be honest is awful.
this is better then both those bands mate
