vintage videos like this is more valuable than today's super GM's playing video as current players care only for their ELO rating but early players whom we call legends used to play and care for their countries and they use to play in the way Chess was meant to be played.

Great chess times, great chess personalities! This is valuable footage. It was one of the greatest chess events of all time, the likes of which have never been seen again. Many famous games have been played there.

This looks more like 1940 than 1970.

But this match they won barely 20.5 -19.5. Only because Portisch in last round having superior position decided to repeat moves against Korchnoi . USSR lost all 4 top boards, which was embarrassment .They were saved by better play on other boards (Keres scoring 3 points out of 4 , Geller, Botvinnik, Smyslov and Taimanov 2.5 points out of 4 ).

Fischer must have thought he was in heaven (though he would prefer to be on board 1)

    Who is who?
I want to know the name in the man and women.
    Quién es quien?
Sería bueno identificar a cada uno.

While there was a USSR it ruled the chess world men’s or women’s and after it disintegrated obviously the dominance stopped

@@carkawalakhatulistiwa even more saw! Any sport school (or chess school in national sense) has its “graduates” and even if country disintegrates and school “stops” working so to say, it takes years often for the results to become evident!
