I love that you’re starting your PTX journey. Any time you ask yourself “is that Mitch?” or “is that Kirstie?” the answer is always “yes!” They are chameleons and change their looks constantly. Please add to your list: Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Mad World and Say Something”. But truly you can’t go wrong with any choice from their catalog. Have fun!!
Kirstie and Mitch are chameleons. Different hair, style...and if you see videos from 2017 on-bass is now Matt Sallee. Avi’s mom was ill, and he left PTX in late 2017. It was amicable. He helped PTX to find Matt!
Your reaction was the best reaction I've seen in a very long time!!! thank you! This was their first grammy win. They have 3. All from their earlier years together. They made this in Avi and Kevin's apartment for about $400. You are so right on about the bass and percussion. I hone in on them immediately for every one of there performances. They are all uniquely talented but Avi is my favorite. I love the warmth and emotion in his voice and he has such a range. Please watch the videos Say something, Love Again (written by Avi and Kevin), Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody and their second Grammy win Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Enjoy the journey. The Pentaholics are great fans and will support you all the way.
Yup, Avi and Kevin really drive this piece and Kevin especially does a crazy job of providing sounds that really make it sound like a tech piece. This is a very early work and Mitch has changed a lot even in the three years between this an Hallelujah. To be fair, he and Kirsti are changelings, rarely if ever do you see them look the same one video to the next. BTW they won a Grammy for this one, filmed on a budget of about $400 and shot mostly in Avi's kitchen and closet.
SUPER late reply but I'm on a Pentatonix reaction kick.. Scott never gets any love but his singing stared into my soul! Also his eyebrows were so emotional lol. I love this song and seeing the polar opposites of the range from Mitch and Avi. Both great in this. Really fun video.
Their first Grammy! Better than most actual techo songs. They won another Grammy for Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. They do an instrumental song. It will amaze you. I have seen them in person, they are incredible live.
This was the video that made them worldwide superstars, won them their first Grammy, and finally got them signed to one of the world's largest record labels. They had booked studio time to record the song and shoot the video, but their plans fell through at the last minute. So they ended up recording the song in a closet and shooting the video in Avi's kitchen! The pre-production budget was only $400 (not counting the editing cost, which was also done quite reasonably as they had begun a relationship with a brand new production company called FifGen Films, with whom they still work to this day).
I LOVE the various stunned looks you had on your face, because that is exactly how I responded the first time I saw this. Also, since you rightly shouted out how incredible Kevin is, I strongly encourage you to check out his solo cover of "Down." You will truly be BLOWN AWAY.
Loved your reaction! And don't apologize about pausing. If you want to stop to share your thoughts or listen to something again, go ahead. We've seen these videos so often, we know them by heart. It'll also help with not getting your videos blocked or taken down because of a copyright strike by their label. If you think Kevin and Avi killed it in Daft Punk, check out their original song Love Again. Kevin goes crazy! Bonus: Mitch has the lead. :) Daft Punk won them their first Grammy for best arrangement, instrumental or a capella. They recorded it in a closet and filmed it in the kitchen, then edited it on their laptop. Cost them about $400 dollars. If you want to check out their other Grammy winning songs: #2 was Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (from the Nutcracker - a classical instrumental song without words), and #3 is a duet of Jolene with none other than Dolly Parton. The song that Avi mentioned at the end, Run To You (another original of theirs), is the complete opposite of Daft Punk, a ballad with five part harmonies. It's definitely worth checking out as well. No matter what song you decide to watch from Pentatonix, you can't go wrong. Whether it's a ballad or an up-tempo song or even a rap song - they can do it all! Tomorrow they're releasing a 90s Dance Medley.
Thank u so so much. Well, usually people don't like pausing but it's soo hard with Pentatonix haha ... you're right though. Okay my mind was just blown away by all this. Will definitely check out the grammy winner songs and also the other ones you mentiond. I'm so hyped!
they mentioned Run To You at the end there. I strongly recommend that song. It's literally my favorite song of all time. It's an original song of theirs written by Avi and Kevin and its STUNNING.
The pure joy reflected in your reaction to this song is refreshing. Thank you for that. Not all reaction channels seem genuine, but so far what I've seen from you reactions is. I look forward to seeing more from you, especially reacting the myriad of songs Pentatonix has produced over the years. They are so versatile, and somehow manage to put their own twist to each cover they do.
Nice reaction .... I liked your comments and wonderments enough that I'll look forward to seeing you explore their catalog a bit more . I'll be especially interested in how you view their original material vs their covers.
I rarely enjoy reactors who DON'T pause. I like to go along for the ride, feel the wonderment, and enjoy you folks really discovering the music, and that usually involves pausing and rewinding. I am really enjoying your reactions, subscribing to support you continuing down this rabbit hole!
Here are my favorites by Pentatonix: Carol of the Bells (Christmas) (14 November 2012) The Wizard of Ahhhs by Todrick Hall ft. Pentatonix (16 July 2013) Daft Punk Medley (4 November 2013 Grammy winner) Mary, Did You Know? (Christmas) (11 November 2014) Hallelujah (Christmas) (21 October 2016) Bohemian Rhapsody (7 April 2017) Matt replaces Avi as bass (22 June 2017) Havana (23 February 2018) The Sound of Silence (15 February 2019) Can you feel the love tonight? (23 August 2019) Blinding Lights (1 July 2020) Dreams (22 July 2020) Amazing Grace (5 November 2020) TYTY ..
Ok just found you and subscribed, I love, love, Loved the fact that you already found out their names and super props to you for getting Kirtstin’s pronunciation correctly, everyone else wants to put the r before the I, so yeah! I really loved your reaction to PTX and look forward to your next video.
I appreciate you staying on the pentatonix train and love this reaction to Daft Punk. I remember the first time I saw this video I was like..."Holy Crap, there's so much going on"...lol But, it was fantastic none the less. If you are going to do more Pentatonix they just recently released a "90's Dance medley" video. You should so check that out...really really good. Also, I saw that you did a Home Free reaction video as well. They just recently released their cover of "Never gonna give you up" by Rick Astley. It's so hilarious and when you see the video it has an 80's feel to it along with their dance moves to pay tribute to not only the 80's but Rick Astley. I think you'll get a kick out of it. One other one you could react to is their cover of "When a man loves a woman" by Percy Sledge. This song was also covered by Michael Bolton. Austin took the lead on this one and slayed the hell out of it. It's an amazing cover please check it out. Thank you again for this reaction. Hope to see more Pentatonix and Home Free in the days to come. Take care and stay safe....Btw, new subscriber here!!!!!
For the ultimate Avi/Mitch experience, try AHA ( Singapore). Sound of Silence is fairly current featuring Matt after Avi left. Bohemian Rhapsody should have won a Grammy with Mitch imitating the lead guitar with his voice!
So glad to see new reactions to Pentatonix songs! Please keep doing reactions of their songs. Loved your reaction :) Some of my personal favorites : Gold, Imagine, Papaoutai, 90s dance music medley (just out)
There IS a lot to process! On some videos, I have to watch a couple of times to be able to comprehend what I saw. I love your reactions! Your facial expressions tell so much. There are many suggestions below. Every one of their songs are fantastic, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for reacting and need more PTX! There are originals (they wrote), covers, medley, mash-ups, harmonies, Christmas Albums, they have individual You Tube Channels, plus! Avi was in the original group, but had to leave amicably for personal reasons and helped find Matt in 2017. (Avi Kaplan has his own channel also) You should check out some of his songs too.
Mitch will always look completely different haha, go by his voice. This music was recorded in a closet and filmed in a kitchen for 400 dollars, which I think went to contacts and equipment rent. That's the first Grammy. Avi Kaplan left amicably in 2017, but his solo music is great, look for change on the rise, reaction please, if you want to hear. He sang all the vocals, makes all his music, plays most instruments and even directs some of his videos. He is crazy talented and one of my favorite artists. Pentatonix is doing amazingly with Matt Sallee as bass, Avi even helped chosing him.
Hi Gabbsi. don't feel like you are the only one who is a bit startled with Pentatonix. I have followed them for awhile and my jaw still drops. It seem like I listen to one of their songs and I am blown away by the level of talent , The creativity alone is just crazy. And then I will listen to another song of theirs and it is just seems to have that unbelievable level of creativity, even though it is a totally different song. There are several suggestions in the comments. It almost doesn't matter which one you pick. They are just all crazy insane good. We love you Gabbsi. With love from Florida Here would be 3 of many would suggest "Amazing Grace" "Bohemian Rhapsody" "Imagine"
Yes there is a ton going on. Usually I will watch the video like five times the first time I see it. Each time I just try to focus on one member and it makes you appreciate each part so much more. B you may want to try that on your own sometimes
Welcome to the Pentatonix Rabbit Hole, everything they do is spot on! Try Can you feel the love tonight, Evolution of Michael Jackson, O Come all Ye Faithful
As far as Mitch looking different, I understand he's had some health issues that caused weight loss. But, yes, they do frequently look different in their videos. I believe this song won them their first Grammy. You should check out Home Free's cover of "Ring of Fire", featuring Avi Kaplan. Two amazing basses in one song. In addition to Home Free, another great a capella group is Voiceplay. They did a song called "Just Sing" which is a massive collaboration with MANY a capella artists. If you watch that one, be sure to turn on the Closed Captioning. They included information about who everyone is.
5:34 When the "reactor" finally gives up on trying to understand/analyze what everybody is doing and finally realizes that it's just ^&%# BRILLIANT and they should just LISTEN! and enjoy!! :) That's the best compliment a music video ever gets.
Every reactor pauses just before the Scott "Like the legend of the phoenix" lyric, as if they've seen it before and know there' a slight pause coming up and a change in melody.
When they got the Grammy for this Scott explained they recorded this in a closet and did the video at the kitchen table. Budget $400 I think. Go see the Grammy video. I love that Mitch dropped back to escort Kristin up the steps. They met when they were 8 or 10. Met Scott doing local shows, and went to high school together, formed The Trio and did youtubes. Nice reaction. Thanks. Please react to "Run To You" by Pentatonix. It is an original PTX song and it's beautiful. Mitch went vegan and lost weight in 2014.

I don't know if you noticed this, but if you really listen to Avi's solo of "Television," you can hear Kirstie singing "Around the World," as a countertune.
Hahahahaha....izraz tvog lica sve govori. Baš me sad zanima reakcija na Home Free i njihovog beatboxera(Adam Rupp).Mislim da bi trebala čuti i "The sound of silence"-Pentatonix,iako tu više nema Avi-a..
Ee i to dvoje sam pogledala jučer tako da uskoro uploadom. Inače nevjerojatno kako su to učinili sa tako malim budžetom ali taj grammy je definitivno zaslužen.
You spoke of the way they promote their songs, When they first won Sing-off their record company dropped them because they didn't know how to promote acapella... so they decided they had to promote them selves
new here can you react to pentaonix , the sound of silence, cheerleader, new rules, havana, love again, the feeling cant hold us they rap in this video, rather be, sing, also superfruit who are scott and mitch from pentatonix they sing the promise, rise, beyonce, future friends, guy exe, hip hop goes Broadway 1,2 with bloopers, frozen with bloopers
Let's see ,, Daft Punk is from 2013,, that's only maybe 2 years after they won the Sing-off (season 3). Hard to believe huh. Particularly when you think that they added kevin and avi so they'd have a chance in the competition.
Yeah, they look very different... it's been nearly 10 years after all. Well, almost... i think Daft Punk came out in like... 2013? something like that.
Have fun!!
You could literally pick ANY of their songs and STILL be blown away every time. They are a force of Nature!
Ahahah... I just love your stunned look. I kind of envy you for having all their songs to discover. It never gets old. Enjoy the ride! 🤗
Kirstie and Mitch are chameleons. Different hair, style...and if you see videos from 2017 on-bass is now Matt Sallee. Avi’s mom was ill, and he left PTX in late 2017. It was amicable. He helped PTX to find Matt!
I also love the lullaby Scott wrote for his nephew and had Avi perform
Light in the Hallway.
Have you heard their version of "Amazing Grace" yet? "Bohemian Rhapsody?" "Imagine"? They're pretty amazing.
Everything you hear, they can do it live very well 😬, and avi can whistle and bass at the same time, mind blown right?
Your reaction was the best reaction I've seen in a very long time!!! thank you! This was their first grammy win. They have 3. All from their earlier years together. Avi and Kevin had that chemistry going on... this, Love Again.... i mean... you can pick any song with two of them and its perfect

Run To You is so very hauntingly beautiful! 💖
Mind-blowing indeed! Thanks for posting this great reaction to my favourite group of musicians. Can’t wait for your next one.
That's baby pentatonix! They were so young when they recorded that. This song won them their first grammy.
Loved your reaction !! New sub and loved that you mention Avi and Kevin cause they can be really under appreciate.

i believe that daft punk is the where they got there first grammy.
Yes, it is! It was for the arrangement. 😊
They just dropped their "90s Dance Medley". This would be a good one to get caught up on.

One of my favorites of theirs. So cool and so well done. Good review!
Please react to their cover of THE SOUND OF SILENCE, IMAGINE, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY or GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN. 😁
Every time I hear this, I just can't get over how awesome Kevin is.

Dreams, Mad World, Cheerleader, Royals, Sing...pretty much everything.
This is one of my three favorite videos of theirs. The other two are 'Love Again' and their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody.

The interesting part is that near the end, they were doing two songs at once, overlaying each other. THAT is my definition of "busy".
Also your reaction was amazing!! Subscribed.
Pentatonix are so good that you could react to other reactors reacting to Pentatonix and still enjoy an amazing experience!
to quote Yo Mama "bohemian rhapsody or dance of the sugar plum fairy by them next plz :D"
Every time I read the comments on a PTX video/reaction, it always makes me sad because I feel like Scott never gets enough appreciation.
Pause all you want, this is your experience! They released a 90's Dance Medley, you're gonna love Mitch in that!
Awesome reaction - loved it!
5:34 When the "reactor" finally gives up on trying to understand/analyze what everybody is doing and finally realizes that it's just ^&%# BRILLIANT and they should just LISTEN! and enjoy!! :)
That's the best compliment a music video ever gets.
Great reaction, Thanks!!
Every reactor pauses just before the Scott "Like the legend of the phoenix" lyric, as if they've seen it before and know there' a slight pause coming up and a change in melody.

Got talked into doing The Singoff but they needed 5. Avi was recommended but they found Kevin celloboxing on youtube, Had 1 day to get acquainted and won the show.
this song was my introduction to pentatonix.
Then home free
Then voiceplay.. (oogie boogie's song , it will blow you away!)
One of their Grammy Award winners.
Nice reaction. Thanks. Please react to "Run To You" by Pentatonix. It is an original PTX song and it's beautiful. Mitch went vegan and lost weight in 2014.
"Avi and Kevin" - oh how many have said, how many have called those two names....
Love this!! Try "Can you feel the Love tonight" it's crazy angelic.
They mentioned "Run To You" in the little blurb at the end. "Run To You" is also like nothing else. Please react to it!
You are more relaxed on your channel. It's nice to see.
Im new to the party. I really love the honesty
They won their first of three Grammys for this.
You also have to remember they were teenagers in the Sing Off in 2011 - so they have changed a lot
That was Mitch in his Stay Puft Phase.
Next: Sound of Silence, Havanna and Amazing Grace...
Their recent cover of Amazing Grace should also be listened to. Mitch is like a chameleon with the way he dresses. Kirsten has a video with Voctave doing Disney Princess Songs and it is just incredible
Listen to them do The Sound of Silence
You should do their "Love Again", another dance tune. It's amazing.
Please reaction Home Free
Mitch does have an amazing voice that is so high but you can still tell it's masculine.
Mitch has the lead in their cover of Gold (Kiiara).
Their cover of Radioactive by Imagine Dragons is also good, and Kevin also has some time on the Cello for it
you are soooo cool, keep on going 👍
I don't know if you noticed this, but if you really listen to Avi's solo of "Television," you can hear Kirstie singing "Around the World," as a countertune.

You should check out their "Love Again" video. It's awesome.
My favorite is Scott. I watch from Denmark, hi
Love your reactions. Try an original from them like "Sing" or "Run to You".
If you like Avi and Kevin in this video, you need to react to the video of PTX's original song "Love Again."
Pausing is usually ok, best way to hedge with pausing is to back up a few seconds when you do so you don't miss anything.
you should watch superfruit beyonce and lady gaga its just mitch and scott
From the Sing Off, 2011: Avi and Kevin, you are no longer Avi and Kevin. You are now "Meat" and "Potatoes". :D
Have a listen to their Little Drummer Boy original! WOW
U should react "Love Again" by PTX ;)
React to 90s dance medley from Pentatonix.
Let's see ,, Daft Punk is from 2013,, that's only maybe 2 years after they won the Sing-off (season 3). Hard to believe huh. Particularly when you think that they added kevin and avi so they'd have a chance in the competition.
hello , i loved your reaction to Daft Punk medley ..... can u react to Pentatonix - Can´t hold us ?? i would love to see your reaction =)
Yeah, they look very different... it's been nearly 10 years after all. Well, almost... i think Daft Punk came out in like... 2013? something like that.
Watch "love again" it's an original song!
