Excellent counselling session. I learnt a few things to take away if and when I become a guidance counsellor. I, too, struggle a lit bit with anxiety, so it was also useful to me in a personal way too. Thank you.
You did a good job of making the session all about the client. Sometimes, I notice that other counselors use a lot of "I" sentences. Also, you did an awesome job at summarizing. It is distracting for the client if a counselor is rocking back and forth in their chair. I would be careful of that. Maybe instead of saying "good job", it would be good to say that " you have made improvements since the last session and you seem very dedicated to making even more progress in the future".
I tried yoga but gave up, I have switched to half the caffeine, I miss my Greyhound Mosbey we used to take walks together I need to find a social life! My dog would always pull me toward people for some reason
That was really interesting, gently exploring further their story of why they were avoiding yoga class...and feeling out pros and cons of yoga class and alternatives.
