    what if the assailant knows krav maga and you get stuck in an endless cycle of stealing the bat

    Excellent instruction! The instructor also made a good point that most people are concerned with how it looks. If it works and you are comfortable doing it is all that matters.
    That right elbow coming over the top after securing the bat should be lights out for most attackers.😎👍

    Agree, you have 2 choices 1 - Run or 2 - Attack and control the weapon arm.. Like what you demonstrated. What I see missing from the demonstration is the attacker stepping in, which I think should be considered or added to this.. Take car much respect Sir.

      If the assailant steps in it actually makes it easier for the Defender, because he is doing the work for you. But it’s unlikely he will step in because all the power is at the end of the bat.

    There are other ways to strike with a bat other than the simple two handed swing.
    For example, held crossways across the body, it can be used to block and ram into your opponent. I don't see these specific techniques working against someone who weilds the bat similar to a quarter/half staff.

    If someone threatens you with a baseball bat, and you are unarmed, RUN AWAY!

  • @deafsmith1006

    When I was in high school three bullies came to settle score with me in the bus parking lot. One of them had a club. I waited till the got close and the leader, with the club, started mouthing off threats... then I jumped him and just went ape on him. He dropped the club and ran. So the main point is to get inside the swing and pin the guys arms.
    Still here in Texas we have lots of baseball bats (clubs, knives, brass knuckles, etc.), but we also have lots of guns. I prefer the gun now (and with LTCs plenty of people pack.) It's way ahead of clubs, knives, bats, etc...

    Hey there.. Nice Vid!!
    I have a small baseball bat that I have at home strictly for self defense. Just to feel extra safe if I hear a noise at night, I don't live in the best area... My question is, in case a perpetrator knows a bit of Krav Maga or whatever, could you make a video on how to defend yourself WITH a bat rather than against one?
    Thanks ;)

    Only thing id say as a martial artist myself is hit him back but with your fists knees feet or elbows. Dont take the bat and hit him with it because then you become the attacker. Nice techniques all the same, theyd deffo work

    If needed, can you block a baseball bat with your fore arm? Or will your arm break

    • @mmakravmaga09
      @mmakravmaga09  2 роки тому +1

      To be honest yes I think that the bat will break the forearm no problem. That’s why in theory you should have a slight angle to stop their arm from hitting you but not completely straight so they don’t slide straight past you and still hit you.
      Essentially you’re trying to block arm on arm and not trying to block the bat. Though as I always say the first defence should be if you possibly can get away.🙏

    • @PeterBornAgain
      @PeterBornAgain 9 місяців тому

      Put your forearm out and let me take a Louisville slugger and hit you with it.
      You will be in the ER guaranteed.
      I am sorry, that is such a foolish question even though this comment is 2+ years old I had to reply.

    Nice techniques and skills, but realistically that bat would have been swung the millisecond or right before you entered the distance you are demonstrating here. So entering the "danger zone" needs to be done as quick as humanly possible followed up by the techniques you showed. The fast entrance is probably the most crucial part and what I've missed out on myself after many years of MA training.

    fighting against baseball bats at close range is the best position because of the range of his long range bat so he can't use his bat

    • @mmakravmaga09
      @mmakravmaga09  2 роки тому +1

      Exactly, I made this video quite a long time ago but to be honest the whole point of it was just to explain find the technique that works for you but if you can’t run away or escape down the real thing that would be effective used to be super close and smother the movement. Anybody with a bat needs range.🙏

    Knee strike to the groin. Hurt the guy to take his mind off holding the bat and then take it from him.

    • @richcapo
      @richcapo 4 роки тому

      You want to initially keep both feet on the ground to brace against your attacker’s forward momentum; so starting with a knee to the groin should be avoided.

    At 2:04 the first technique with the arm lifted with the elbow up is too risky for me. I would rather do a technique where I can block and grab the bat right away. The technique at 2:26 is better because he's moved in and has a better chance of taking the bat and not getting hit. I've practiced bat disarming techniques with a real bat, but don't think that it is good to start out with a real bat or at full speed. However, when the student or practitioner gets comfortable doing the disarming technique with the practice bat, the instructor should move to the real bat and use more speed so that it will be realistic. In the street, no one is going to move slowly or use a soft practice bat. Students need to start with the soft bat and work their way up to the real thing so they will be ready for it in a real situation. Otherwise, they're in real trouble.

    OK, I like the Crazy Monkey style cover, but let me ask this. WHY, with a plastic safety bat do people (not just Ricky) never show it more than 70-80 percent. Just once I'd like to see presenters say 'Mate, hold this $20 or 20£ note. If you can hit me the bill is yours'. Pick a guy who is at about your level - plastic bat, sure and let us see it full speed. Point is almost everything works at 80-90%. Still thanks for the share. Structurally it's good stuff.

  • @ClintDecker148
    @ClintDecker148 7 років тому

    This looks good, but its a bad idea to take the bat from a legal standpoint. You holding the bat out of situational context makes you look like the aggressor.

    • @happynickdm
      @happynickdm 7 років тому

      Legal or no, if he keeps the bat he's going to try to hurt you with it. You're not required under any circumstances to hit the guy with the thing, you just do what you feel like you have to do in order to survive. He CANNOT have his weapon though, that cannot happen.
      I love this video, and I absolutely love your approach. I teach TKD, Muay Thai, Brazillian Jiujitsu, Hapkido, and Ninjutsu as part of my curriculum and I absolutely agree with your approach. It doesn't matter what martial art you learn or what the technique is, the only thing that matters is that it works for you, and you practice it religiously. I'm going to implement more Krav Maga into my curriculum now, it's seems very straight forward and effective. Thank you for the upload dude!

    • @ClintDecker148
      @ClintDecker148 7 років тому

      The key is make him unwilling to fight, and get out. Disarming him is frosting.

    • @ClintDecker148
      @ClintDecker148 7 років тому

      Unless of course disarming him is key to the technique.

    • @happynickdm
      @happynickdm 7 років тому

      I would say disarming him is the sole purpose of any good weapon defense. Again, if he keeps the weapon he kills you. You can kick him in the balls, scratch his eyes, punch him in the jaw, whatever you want. BUT if he gets up or worse yet doesn't go down and he still has that weapon, you can rest assured that his intention will be to kill you with it. You will have done nothing but strengthen his resolve. Whether you do something along these lines, or something else. The important thing isn't how, but that you DO take his weapon away. :)

    • @ClintDecker148
      @ClintDecker148 7 років тому

      I'm not arguing that disarming is bad idea by any means, I'm simply saying that it's not the end game. If you've disarmed him, but he's still ready to fight you, then its partly been for naught.
      The issue with the finisher in this video is that using it inappropriately will frame you as the aggressor and get you prosecuted.
