Hi folks, an update. We ended up having to send the computer back to HP for repairs. Even after re-seating the CPU, the computer never acted properly. It would freeze randomly while in use. And then, it reverted back to the no-boot behavior shown in the video. That was the final straw so we ended up sending it back to HP for repairs (they paid shipping) After about a month, HP ended up replacing the motherboard. We've had the computer back for several weeks now and it is performing flawlessly. HP customer service was very good - they offered several options for resolution. Once we got the PC back, they reset the warranty.
i also had a bad expirance with hp, (with the hp pavilion desktop) the PC took over 3 months to ship and arrive at my house and I ended up just buying the PC from my local Walmart (yes its a Walmart pc) and refunding the one I order from hp. They still charged me a shipping and restocking fee though.
Ooof that sucks man. I would be torn up if this happened to me it was such a long wait to receive it. I have had my 40L for 2 days now and its working great.
@@blixx87 yes I meant the 30l🤣 I wanna get this but I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews on it. Some people are saying it still runs hot. I’m mostly going to be playing Warzone
My 2-month old HP OMEN 40L ran fine then started randomly shutting down. Best Buy Geek Squad ran diagnostics and did a complete software reload, but could not identify the problem. Contacted HP tech support and they paid to have it shipped it back to HP for warranty work. Just waiting for the repair and return. I'm confident it's a hardware issue. Other than that I like the computer.
I learned my lesson with hp. Mine worked, but the thermals are terrible and they limit your performance greatly by lowering the max cpu power and ram speed. Owning an Omen just made me motivated to learn how to build computers on my own and I’ve been doing just that
Which Omen specifically are you talking about? They improved the thermals on the 40L. The 10850K version of the 30L had big thermal issues yes. But the 40L has an extra front fan and the case is bigger, about 10 liters more volume inside of the case.
@@daan1565 It was the Omen 30L. But it wasn't just the higher thermals. They intentionally limit the max power that the cpu can use, so that ends up limiting the cpu performance.
@@josh8oh8 I tested the 40L and what you (and Linus Tech Tips in his review of the 45L) say about that the CPU doesnt reach max performance is not true. In QuickCPU I can see the Performance (P) cores reach their max all core turbo boost of 4.7 Ghz like what they should. The max Watt I can observe in QuickCPU while unzipping at 100% CPU usage is 175 W which is 50 W above the TDP of 125 W. Nothing wrong at all with the CPU! Overall Im very happy with my purchase. It has a 12700K and a 3080. It is very quiet even at 100% CPU usage while unzipping files or when gaming. It does generate some heat which I can notice as Im sitting quite close to the case.
Just received my 40L - similar symptoms. Tried reseating almost everything and checked all connections. Sent in for repair -it’s been two weeks - they have an unknown part in order….
@@danielbergmans816 Really sorry to hear that. I haven't posted an update in a while but after I re-seated the CPU, the computer would work but freeze randomly while in use. Then the computer started doing the behavior in the video again. We ended up sending it back for repairs. The fix was a new motherboard. We've had the PC back for about 3 weeks now and ZERO issues. Now. So after 4 months of troubleshooting, phone calls and emails, we have a PC that is functioning properly. I am reasonably happy with HP customer support. They stepped up and offered us several options to make it right. In the end, the fastest option was to wait for a new motherboard. The part came in sooner than they originally indicated, so hopefully yours will too. Good luck
@@joeracertx - thanks for the update! I’ve been pleased with HP customer service so far as well. Understand everyone is still dealing with supply chain issues.
UPDATE: I had to re-seat the CPU. Once I did that it is now up and running normally. Re-seated everything (RAM, Graphics card, checked all power connections, etc) but it was the CPU that was the issue. Really frustrating on a brand new and very expensive computer!
Sucks that happened! I picked mine up from Best Buy a couple of days ago. Worked smooth out of the box. I will say for packaging standards, I wish it was packed tighter. But also nothing bad happened so can’t complain. Loving the 40L so far!
Sorry to see your trouble. I got mine Friday, Feb 4. Booted it up for the first time the next morning, set up a user profile and then, it would no longer boot. It was stuck in a power loop. I spent 7 hours n the phone with tech support (some remote control) diagnosing corrupt Win 11 and HP software. They attempted two restores through BIOS .. finally installing Win 10 ~ now, lighting control, network control, some drivers won't work. Now waiting for an official boot drive via FedEx. I had such high hopes ... AMD Ryzen 9 (5900x), RTX 3060 TI ... Wish I would have just bought an Apple. :P LOL
@@Omabatfartsbruh What he was referring to is ordering an off the shelf 40 or a customized 40. You can buy in-stock Omens in whatever configurations they offer but you can also customize any build. For instance when I bought my 45L they only had i7 12700 3060 RTX models in stock so I upgraded to a 12900k, 3080, 32GB ram, 2tb SSD, etc and then went through about a 4 week build time.
I received my 45L last week and it was perfect out of the box but I did notice that it shipped from Juarez in Mexico. So another case of outsourcing your labor to a third world country sacrificing quality for profit margin and counting on customer service to pick up the inevitable slack. Or as in this case, the end user fixing their own problem.
No fans at the top. Looks Iike there are provisions for them. There are two fans at the front plus one at the rear for the CPU radiator. (Intel I9 water cooled CPU)

Same I had the same issues with that computer
Try a power flush. Unplug from the wall and then hold down the power button to empty the capacitors. Also try removing the CMOS battery if need be.
looks like a power supply issue, swap it with another to see if that fixes the boot looping.
Re-seating the CPU fixed the issue
