I always loved the quote, it was in a meme I saw a while ago, but I also just want to point out a flaw in the math. Incest. Maybe not directly, but when you're talking about thousands of people, and assuming a large number of them lived in a similar area, let's say a single state, the chances of every single ancestor not being related is less and less likely. There's also the idea that every group of people might not have been born at the same time. Let's say on your mom's side of the family, every baby was born when the mother and father were 20, and on the dad's side, it was 30. Going back a few generations means you're great^3 grandfather was in a relationship with your great^5 grandmother or something.
…So how about in short, we just say a LOT of people.

Actually when you go far enough back everyone has overlapping grandparents because everyone is distantly cousins. You reach more humans than have ever existed if you go back enough assuming they are all different people.
