We forget Will Flanary is an intelligent & articulate doctor because we only see the many character stylings of DR. Glaucomflecken. DR. Flanary is not only Glaucomflecken, but we are glad he has brought us DR. Glaucomflecken. ❤️
To be honest, to be able to deliver that many characters, often convincingly and with different speech patterns and quirks... you must be intelligent and articulate.
As a physician, I can personally attest that all of the videos I have viewed so far are absolutely true. The same nonsense (insurance denials, not medically necessary even though the patient is in the ICU, etc.) has been personally experienced, and it is only getting worse.
Retired R.N. here: I've done my share of utilization reviews and pre-authorizations with insurance companies. It's ridiculous! It robs the patients of needed care, ties up clinical man hours better spent with patients, and provides inadequate funding compensation for services rendered thereby crippling an already flailing delivery system.
I love Dr. "Glaucomflecken" ! He's a talented comic who happens to be a doctor. He's also got a great prescription for the medical community and I hope they adopt it. I have always felt that humor is the best medicine. My late husband and I used humor to get through so many health problems, from cancer to brain surgery. I believe the Lord gave us humor to help us cope with life and thankfully He gave us talented comics like Dr. Flanary to teach us to laugh at ourselves and at life's difficult moments. God bless you Dr Flanary. I pray you have good health and a happy life.
I love my eye doctor. He's just like Dr. GLAUC. Only he has 2 bengal cats that he loves very much. As a fellow cat person, i asked for pictures. He obliged. Longest eye appointment I ever had. 😆
I'm so glad that Dr. Glaucomfleken played an extraordinary ophthalmologist at a medical conference. Now maybe we can get back to see if Jonathan has a Jonathan.😉
I like how he admitted being a doctor is the easier route than comedy. Im a doctor and musician, and being a doctor ia arguably the easier route, and its not even easy!
I have severe medical problems and also a cardiac arrest and coma issue from last year. You have no idea how much I laugh and joke; when I’m sick or anxious there’s not one moment that I’m not smiling or laughing bc he’s right, it does help me take back control. Unfortunately, I’m not great at comedy and many people think I’m just some immature college student but it really helps me. You can’t get through extreme pain and mental/physical anguish by sobbing and being sad. Right now, I have tramadol in my system, am heating my ankles (RA), and despite severe pain I’m laughing from watching this video; as humans, we physically cannot be sad and putty ourselves for the rest of our lives. We must find ways to cope and, although quite odd to certain groups of people, it’s very helpful for some of us. :) I loved this video and thank you for making me laugh.
I think he does what he does with a lot of class and professionalism. I would be the one crying all the time telling my jokes with that subject matter. There’s a time for graveness and there is a time for lightness and rarely can they mix successfully. Bravo! In Arabic, there is a proverb: شر البلية ما يضحك the worst of calamities brings cause for laughter. I guess we all must have some appreciation to life’s most fascinating feature: life.
I love this. Its nice to see the real person behind Dr Gloucomfleken. I didn't know about the cancer thing as only seen his content though youtube. We really need more doctors nerses and professionals in the field to do this kind of thing.
Thank you for your humour and also your education through humour. I'm a politics student, and a semi-regular flyer at the ER (due to migraines). To those of us in countries with any sense of social security & 'universal' healthcare system, a lot of what you talk about with regard to authorisations for tests, medicine, and sugeries, seems terribly wild and, frankly, inhumane.
The absolute worst part is that he's.... not wrong. The emotions that are there from the 'bad guys' in his skits aren't as overt as he makes them, but the steps are spot on.
It's pure hell sometimes. I was undiagnosed with lupus for 20 years because they were sure it wasn't lupus. But it was. After several near death experiences they finally effing listened to me.
Dr Patch Adams is another great who should be better known to everyone for his humor and contributions to medicine :) jsut we didnt have social media then, but we did have Robin Williams play him in a movie
Will Flannery is a class act. I am only a retired RN, but I looove his videos and loved this talk, too 🤩 "Please keep up this very valuable good work!" 😊
I like the humor as advocacy thing. I think it works because people see us as this ivory tower of healthcare thats absolutely unapproachable when, realistically we'ee all just people. Comedy breaks down that barrier between the patient and tge healthcare system
I really enjoy seeing the Dr. Glaucomfleken videos. Having worked in the medical field as an RN, I can truly appreciate the contents of the videos. I too have used levity throughout my career and personal life to survive. Thank you for this presentation.
@@startledmilk6670 I love your name! I think you meant to say: "Ich lerne Deutsch und ich habe es auch gehasst." And a more natural way to say you hated it too would be "Ich fand es auch furchtbar/schrecklich." Keep on learning you're doing well :)
@@Emma-Maze ah yes I always forget German doesn’t have present continuous and I honestly just totally forgot to add past tense😂 it’s been two years and I still make stupid mistakes

It is criminal what we expect people to do to use their insurance. Elderly have enough problems just obtaining insurance and going to multiple Dr’s without trying to navigate their insurance. It is criminal.
Thanks, I've watched a lot of his Shorts on UA-cam and gotten a lot of laughs. I guess every workplace has stuff that makes no sense but not every workplace has someone who can turn it in into comedy.
Greatly appreciate and enjoy Dr Glauc’s humor and spot-on videos. Proud to see this fellow graduate of training at U of Iowa College of Medicine. I then practiced in rural Iowa for 25 years. Love the rural clinic videos!
He is really an amazing doctor and comedian. I have only discovered his social media presence today. It cracked me up when he said "good point - we need to get prior authorization for hip surgery". In Germany the healthcare system has crazy elements as well.
Oh man the "eyeballing" vodka (or insert intoxicant here) thing. There are so many journalists at fault for this, misunderstanding what it means. it's not using it as an eyewash. For vodka it's pouring an amount out and saying that looks about right for double shot aka measuring by eye aka eyeballing. For the other intoxicants that originally got talked about for "eyeballing" at least in the UK, it just meant not using a weighing scale to measure a dose.
How did Will’s petite wife do effective CPR for 10 minutes? Even body builders with 20 inch biceps would struggle to do chest compressions for 10 minutes. As a cardiac nurse, my guess is that there was divine intervention 😇
Actually, he has a passion for bringing truth to healthcare, wrapped in a comfortable gel capsule of humor. :-)
For some it might be considered a suppository ;)
@@davidskeith He's an ophthalmologist -- that's the other end of the body. 😀

Ima be honest, I thought he just had a very apt last name until now
No!!!!! He has a real name :( :(
I love that Jonathan has perfected his Dr. Flanery impression. Good show Jonathan.
He's nodding his head so hard it's sounding and looking like speech!
Incredible. Only Jonathan could.
It's good of Texaco Mike to hold down the fort.
