I probably made it harder on myself using 3 characters on "Dynamic" difficulty but whatever. Song Used: Conflict - Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII (Reunion Remix)
Dont they not stay asleep that long tho? Also if you keep casting status effects repeadly dont they eventually stop working? I remember i was doing a similar sleep strat on one of the difficult King Zu fights and i would put him to sleep periodically through out the battle but after like the third sleep, it stopped working. @@goatsays93
yeah but your moron teammates will still try and attack the adds so its better to go alone or with one partner and control them to only attack the mindlayer
I COULD KISS YOU! It was so genius it worked. I was attempting with Yuffie, mix of cure, sleep (for psychotic break [only works 2 times though]), doppleganger, and lots and lots of patience, but I'd always get stunned and suicide killed by the minions... With the frogs as a distraction it's amazing! Only took two tries. For some reason when they're stunned the minions don't suicide them. YOU ARE A GENIUS!
That's actually smart. I just did Solo Cloud but that is actually better since they can take some aggro xD I love the amount of builds and variety and crazy ideas everyone has to do different fights in this game it's so awesome!
Same, Cloud was on full throttle strength build, once mindflayer is staggered, finished him off with cross-slash limit break. Barret n red turned to toads with highest HP build as possible
This one made me kinda insane but after going through every status effect i realized sleep is broken on them. Also works for mindflayer. And use can use stop to prevent them from exploiding when they graped someone. Slow also works to get more time until they screech.
The "Stop" part I actually figured out cause using Aerith's Chrono Aegis can stop the Varghidpolis whenever they perform an attack in her bubble. I mainly had her do that while they were distracted to keep them from killing themselves. Not the best way to do this mission from what I noticed but it worked for me.
For anyone struggling, i found having Yuffie with a sleep materia + magnify was extremely helpful. If any of the experiments grab you, they will explode and die. but if you cast sleep right as they do so, it will go off in time to cancel the grab.
I put an enfeebling ring on my support (not sure why, I could've just left them out, I think), used Tifa, dodged the dual brain guys so they didn't hug bomb me, and I just took my time. I got em eventually.
I managed to do it with Cloud and my old fellow Nanakin Skywalker. One cool thing to do with Red is using "Volleyed Smash" (Also works with Barret) as it automatically teleports your ally next to you, which is a good way in this fight to avoid your ally getting staggered by the ennemies due to dumb IA.
Did this two ways. Went similar to this. Cloud, Tifa, Red, dragged him away from the two adds, slept them, and went to town on him. Finished in like 2 and half minutes. Also was successful going solo with Yuffie and just spamming throw/ninjitsu, though this requires a lot of patience and was a lot longer, about 9minutes. She's quick enough to dodge everything (Tried this with Barret first but he's so damn slow that he can't dodge enough).
Dude wtf, I finished gongaga today, tried this battle a few times and decided to leave it be for now until I find motivation to think about a proper strategy, out of nowhere UA-cam recommends me your video 🧐
From what I hear, what I do in this video isn't actually ideal but it was the only strat I had in mind while doing this mission. (Brute forcing it while having Aerith distract the others with Chrono Aegis lol) I've been told that a better strat is to use magnify + sleep with a solo character or something like that but I haven't tested it yet to see if it's better.
I went in with solo barret to get this objective done since he was the easiest character for me to focus fire on the mindflayer without hitting the little guys.
This one was a damn nuisance. I just did solo Cloud because my tifa/barret had a very high chance where they would accidently kill one of the little guys first. I did Cloud solo and I used elemental thunder on my armor (half thunder damage) since they spammed thunder alot and the mind flayer has a crazy thunder attack too and it really saved my ass. Also Chakra helped. I just played really slow and made sure to avoid getting paralyzed by the little guys.
@@aceplatini859 as long as they do not grab you, they will not self destruct. And they only grab you when they paralize you first, which you can avoid or guard it.
I just took Cloud and Aerith. Had Aerith keep the little ones busy (sleeping occasionally) and Cloud could take down the Mindflayer without worrying about AI killing the shrimps. Still a terrible challenge, if for no other reason that it's not fun or interesting, just kind of annoying.
This combat trial made me just give up on all side content, set the difficulty to easy and just mainline the rest of the main story because I just got so fed up with it. This trial legit made me hate the combat in this game so much I wanted to do as little of it as possible from then on.
i really hate this fight, it's one of the reasons I just stopped caring about these useless quests. I just recently told a friend, this game would be better with less content.
Or you know you can use magnify + sleep w/ inc status effect duration accessory and then just easily kill the mindflayer by themselves
I did not think about that strat once. Oh well.. thank you 😅
@@KazamaXIII ;) Made it infinitely easier

In every game, sleep gets slept on unless it's in hindsight lmao
I used the enfeeblement ring on both allies to make them into toads, then just attacked the mindflayer only as Cloud 😂

very cool fight 😮

Just use Yuffie, make her range, and just hammer the mindflayer while you fly around the map. The others can't explode if they can't catch you.

barret can solo this, that’s how i did ir

What song is this?
Conflict - Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core (Reunion version)
@LordKazama Thank you! I knew it was from Crisis Core, but it was hard to find when I tried searching for it.
Solo’d this with Barret… I never want to do this again
Same...
Head case? More like a case of fucking headache for how ridiculous this challenge was lol
I was playing on easy and didn't have any trouble with this challenge. Got it the first time.

How do you do this when the adds self destruct and then you automatically lose the conditions
@@aceplatini859 as long as they do not grab you, they will not self destruct. And they only grab you when they paralize you first, which you can avoid or guard it.
I only used Tifa and Cloud (for synergy) and let Tifa use spam sleep whenever she has ATB
I used sleep
This one was hell. Pure luck that i was able to do it after like 50 attempts
solo it with cloud. Gave him sleep and put the 2 little ones out then focused on mindflayer. It took about 2 tries

Years later this song still pisses me off
Sleep materia is your friend....
I thought this was ultrakill gg.
This is much easier with sleep + magnify + tarot cards.
easy mode + just cloud + tifa + sleep/magnified
Half of all guides for this game are on this fight.
That goes to show how dumb this objective is. 😂
So frustrated with this so I did solo barret on easy. 🤣
I was too stubborn to drop the difficulty from "Dynamic." Easy mode isn't selectable in my playthroughs. 😅
It's easy with Tifa and Aerith.
Every other combat simulations was okay until this one came. This one is just...🤦
you played the brutal combat sem yet? lmao
@@basilalfehaid1533 yes I did. And yes those were brutal but the difference is that this one mentioned was just unnecessarily dumb to complete lol.
@@Jon-ks3ds it was a walk in the park compared to brutal and legend simulator
This was the easy content😭
It really was looking back. The later challenges in the combat sim are the ones that get crazy.
