Great info . Knowing your opponents strength and weakness’s is huge . I watched The Mighty Jingles and Flambass for 2 years prior to WoWL came to console so I had a good working knowledge on how the spotting and detection mechanics worked . I would recommend watching those guys as well as you to learn tactics in the different classes of ships . Another good tip is to engage when the enemy can only 1 v1 you because of keeping a island between your target and his allies .

I remember asking for and getting your top 10 ways to improve a year ago. Still working on them constantly, but I can attest that they have made me a better DD player. Leagues ahead of where i was before. You’re willingness to share and teach proves what a huge asset to the DD community you are, Bravo.
So I knew all of these except 2, which one I kinda of followed, so the one I kinda of followed was the safety line, never knew that was a thing, the other was where to take a Torp (so glad to hear you take Torps) I feel like a fucking potato when I do. The one thing I really figured you would add would be dangerous divisions IE DD and Radar HE Spammer (Cleveland/Worcester) so I always check for those because then I really have to be picky on my engagements especially if I know those two are on my cap. But excellent advise and I really wish every DD player would watch this because I feel like there is a lack of Decent DD players. I consider myself above average. But always look to get better.
As a guy who is just picking up the DD game, thank you guys so much for the info on HOW TO. The invisible line is the most basic thing but so important as I get shit so much for going GUNG HO with cruisers, hence why I switched to BBs. Great video! Something else very important to add. Make sure you turn off your AA guns if there is a player controlled CV on the enemy team as typically your AA guns have longer spotting range will begin firing before the actual ship is spotted. If the CV is paying attention it’ll more often than not blow your cover. The only time to have your AA on is if you’re in an AA focused DD, you are already spotted by the CV, or are in a smokescreen.
I keep coming back to this video again and again as a refresher course, for when I'm not having good destroyer games it's because I'm not applying enough of these 10 rules - and they are all solid info. For me, staying alive and really working on that, on not getting spotted and then shotgunned, knowing my air detection range and staying away from carrier planes, and most of all check the player list before the game drops to see what destroyers I'm fighting and what radars are out there has been key. Destroyer play can be condensed down to "know when to hold them, know when to fold them."
Former electronic warfare operator here. I just started playing and DD is my favorite so far. It's forcing me to learn the capabilities of each line because of how vulnerable those tin cans are. Nice video.
Big thanks to bravo and peek for taking the time to put this together, I do most of theses points but only after 10,000 games lol , but I can do better putting all the points together , the invisible line is one piont I haven’t thought of so vividly but yes that a fantastic pice of positioning advice to survive the game ( or most of it) I pop into the death zone sometimes then get back.
Very good list of tips for DD players to place in their personal DD bible. One additional concept to add for DD players using Twist n Track and its variant especially in solo play. You will note often as soon as a BB knows there is a opposition DD in front of them they are often reluctant to push or position for support, additionally they will be focused on what they can see and shoot. As clearing opposition DD’s is often the key to opening the map up for cross fire support, use the map tool to indicate their position if you are confident you know their location for your BB players. Update that info as the DD moves to get torp angles BB players will key onto what you are providing them. Two things can occur if you do, savvy BB players get comfort knowing you have their back and will orient to shoot with you if you push that DD, it takes time for a BB to realign their guns at times, forewarning them can give you the advantage clearing them out. Second benefit they can orient to protect themselves from BB incoming and the potential torpedo threat which may include opting for a kiting position while that DD is still there. Doesn’t always work but a DD players situation awareness can build confidence in those players who often hesitate if they haven’t a clue where the opposition DD players are. Come across Bravo a few times in opposition, definitely one of the most skilled DD players out there, very difficult to pin him down even if you have a Div in support. I haven’t seen him stray from his tips so last one, stay disciplined to the principles it works more often that is doesn’t if you seek to win games.
Great video! I’d also HIGHLY recommend turning off your AA when in a game with a player controlled CV. Most DD’s AA will begin firing before the actual ship is spotted. Only turn on your AA if your DD is built specifically for AA, if you get spotted by the CV’s bombers, or are in a smokescreen.
As a very good dd gunboat commander. He did so well explaining it like I only play gunboats but I’m so happy he perfectly explained that and at the end the friendly thing was well explained only thing I would say is smoking if your team is close enough to spot it so you stop taking damage while fighting the dd knowing dd gunrange is important most is about 10 but because of my full gun build mines usually 11.6
You guys are what made me start hardcore gunboating. I'm not scared to open water gunboat in my Shima if the situation permits. Then repositioning and torping BBs etc
Didn't mention turning OFF AA as to not attract attention then if needed of course turn it back on ...yes its situational but affective...my 2 cents.... great video city boys.😂

Any chance you could have A Aron do one with cruisers on how to protect your destroyers. I find to many cruisers just ignore priority targets even when the destroyers shout out for help. Some times you just get in a pickle and you would hope your team cruisers would at least help; almost like they ignore you when they shouldn't because it could make or break for win. Where are you A Aron when I need you? lol.
im a relatively new player played like 500 games, in t5-t6 ships atm. mostly in Battleships for survivability. with a 50% win rate in all battles, for me its almost impossible to play a DD and be effective solo apart from the odd game where everything goes right. have done some of these things on the list in battles like capping and spotting a lot of running away tac'ing etc to avoid shells, just generally dont have the support from team mates even when marking targets. gonna employ that invisible line thing and stay a bit closer to people though, thanks for the vid guys

I am of the opinion every DD should be running Perceptive. I don’t have one in my port without it. I just had a game with bravo and the team threw hard. Kaba and a Sumner left, I was on 400 HP in my own Sumner and neither of them had twist and track lol.
agree for DD players , what we need is that other ships support you ! You spot ships do all what you can , but BB's and cruiser dont help you in a fight , special shoot on your spotted DD !!!!!!
I agree with him on the points as a dd player. Also dds don't need high dmg games place well. Spotting,capping and supporting your other ships go a long way.
Hey, I see you're building up, one thing that bugged me was the skill terms seem to be console based, and I'm on pc. Took me a bit to figure out what he was talking about. captain skills it seems are renamed on console vs pc. Dunno why that would be a thing.
Agreed for most of tips. In no specific order...my 3 tips are... Setting smoke early in the match for your teammates is huge. it really helps them push up undetected. set the smokes between islands to hide people behind. Spotting is very important. put your ship in places that have wide fields of view. ( In caps if you can.) Trading your DD with an enemy DD is a good play. trading for cruisers and BBs is NOT the way to go.

There are a handful of DDs that should certainly be using AP against broadside DDs (and superstructures of larger ships) the majority of the time, including (but not limited to) ships like Elbing, ZF-6, Jutland, Daring, etc. Also, all of the 100mm DDs have great performing AP against enemy destroyers, like Akizuki, Kitatazi, etc.
One other thing not to do in a DD is chase damage or chase a carrier who’s at the edge of the map you’re useless to the team if you’re damage chasing an aircraft carrier at the border or a ship way out there

But it’s taking forever to find ithem you did such a good job explaining. Like I’m sending him in the morning to your republic video I couldn’t explain it he is having a bad time. Like your videos I’d send buddies to them I been trying to help. But I can’t explain.
One of the best ways to learn positioning is to play Minekaze, that ship is so shit that the only way you can perform with it, is by positioning yourself 500% better than you should for that tier
First GB Battleship has been so frustrating it feels like a bug. I’m using ADS to zoom view to look for stuff. I’m not sure if this is turning turrets or not. But when I come out of ADS the white aim/ammo circle has gone and there’s a tiny circle, and it refuses to fire. This is even if you snap back to aiming where you just looked before (and it showed a white shot & ammo available). I pop out of ADS to check for torpedoes, or land. I’ve got the enlarged hud, but playing PS5 on TV it’s just still so fiddly to see. No idea why the destroyer is saying the guns won’t fire. Not aligned. Mad. The game does nothing to explain anything. What button do you press to spot, or what which is the main turret. I watch these videos and none of the tech speak is clearly apparent on screen. I’m not sitting on the floor to examine up close. There should be a tutorial. Not just the stupid test bots set.
Came here because i keep dying in my gaede, i violated most of these rules, though i still think DD's are just cursed because im more sucsessful in a battlecruiser or heavycruiser.
Hear hear.! I mostly agree, but doesn't hurt to give a try; something that should of happend awhile back. Also peeps been screaming training rooms for long time to. Some people just don't seem to care to learn, being at the bottom doesn't bother them; they just like the looks of the ships.
Not too much has changed except a slight reduction to concealment ranges. My opinion, Torpedo Boats perform best at the 5.1km concealment or below, gunboats around 5.5km.
I am really trying to get into DD since I love the fast little ships but I get raped as soon as someone spots me. I hope watching tips and tricks videos, and acting on their advice, will put me off suicide watch lol
We all have that same learning experience. The hardest part is being humble enough to know when you have made a mistake (instead of blaming teammates), which you can correct & learn from.

Right now my favorite destroyer is Clemson. I got my first kraken with her a few weeks ago. I am decent with torpedoes but I need to improve. My very first kraken was with the USS New Mexico a good while back. I fond with destroyers I can make more currency.

It surprises me how few DDs have twist and track or perceptive. Knowledge is power. Intel is key in every battle.

#8 to me is where most people make mistakes. Popping smoke in front of a radar cruiser or whatever and just getting melted. That and YOLO DDs lol

Need an update. You CAN NOT get DD's concealment below 5k
Not too much has changed except a slight reduction to concealment ranges. My opinion, Torpedo Boats perform best at the 5.1km concealment or below, gunboats around 5.5km.
You can still get a few below 5km. Mostly Japanese tho

I am really trying to get into DD since I love the fast little ships but I get raped as soon as someone spots me. I hope watching tips and tricks videos, and acting on their advice, will put me off suicide watch lol

Right now my favorite destroyer is Clemson. I got my first kraken with her a few weeks ago. I am decent with torpedoes but I need to improve. My very first kraken was with the USS New Mexico a good while back. I fond with destroyers I can make more currency.
