1. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas 2. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov 3. Story of the Eye by Georges Bataille 4. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath 5. Mathilda by Mary Shelley
I’ve only just discovered your channel today but it’s great so I’m listening to your videos while I draw. I was genuinely suprised that you didn’t have at least a thousand subscribers. My top 5 books: - Paradise Lost (John Milton) - Dracula (Bram Stoker) - Dimension of Miracles (Robert Sheckley) - The History of Mr Polly (H.G. Wells) - The First Men in the Moon (H.G. Wells) With an honourable mention to all of Chekhov’s short stories.
omg this is so sweet thank you💕 so happy to see Dracula on there! I’ve been meaning to get to H. G. Wells for a while, any suggestions for where to start?
@@nikkisbooks_‘The first men in the moon’ would be great, it’s pretty short but I found it very immersive. ‘The island of Dr Moreau’ is also good, it’s easy to read and very unsettling at times (in a good way). His less famous books are also amazing, he wrote a lot of social commentary. If you’re more interested in that than the sci-fi, I’d suggest ‘Kipps’, or ‘the history of Mr Polly’. But really you can’t go wrong with any of his works.
