After cleaning the roof to actually cure the moss growing attach strips of Zink to the roof starting at the peak running across. Then every 3-4' down until about 2' from the lower edge. The Zink will not let the moss grow but will not kill it if the moss is well established.
Exactly, 10x faster and even cheaper. 30 second wash (Strong Bleach) comes with a hose sprayer, when that's empty and more concentrated bleach and reuse sprayer container as many times as you want, add about 8oz thick soap to, it helps, it stick, it cleans and is more visible.
Wasn't convince on a soft wash set up at first. I can downstream anything and pump spray when I need hotter. My first roof wash with the pump sprayer bought my 12v set up lol
Hey man, I’ve watched a lot of your videos, you got me inspired! But, I live in Indiana, not a lot of moss here, so I’m thinking of just offering gutter cleaning. Do you have any ideas of what to charge for that simple service?
Simple gutter cleanings generally bring about $200 and take about 2.5 hours. Deduct if you live in a labor abundant area, add if labor is scarce. Add for 2 story gutters.
@Spencer Claeys This is the worst, slowest way to soft wash a roof. Use one of those bottles that hooks up to a hose. Use any magic potion you want. Enough pressure you can spray from the ground, no ladder. But what do I know, only been doing this or last 9 years!?
Does baking soda work for soft wash or do you think bleach and water is the best? Because baking soda is the least likely to be carcinogenic compared to other harsh chemicals like bleach or sodium hypochlorite. Plus baking soda dries things out and absorbs moisture so I feel like that may be beneficial compared to bleach. Any thoughts?

I live in this neighborhood, followed the same process and it does NOT work. I've done the process 4 times now and have had to manually remove the moss and it's still not going away.

I have a question can I start a driveway and walkway pressure washing side hustle at 14 without insurance? If I need insurance then I will get it and just ke it a llc since I also have a detailing side hustle / business
Just do it, kid. 😂 at that age you can have a “cross that bridge when I come to it” attitude for this sort of thing. It’s like mowing your neighbors yards for ice cream money or setting up a lemonade stand as a kid. There shouldn’t be laws against it in my opinion but if you find out later down the road that there are laws against it, you’ll get a slap on the wrist at worst. I doubt there’s many legal adults that would fault a legal minor trying to get a head start on their entrepreneurship journey.
Better to ask for forgiveness then permission especially with you being a minor. If anyone says anything, oh I didn't know. I am trying to make money to buy my first car! Lol Also, once you do get to that bridge and if your still not 18 yet, put someone else's name on the paperwork. Just make sure it's someone you trust with your life! That way they don't screw you over. Cheers! I wish my 17 and 12 year old son's had your mentality buddy!!
You are not dumping it down the drain. You are thinking of the run off, for most chemicals you are relatively free to use them on your property as long as they stay on your property. It mainly comes into play when you are using such large amounts that it is running off into the water system. A roof wash on a home is no where near enough to worry about.
Exactly what guy below said. All roof cleaners use bleach to prevent mold growth and spores or an acp cleaner. It's usually 1 to 10 dilution by time it hits ground it's dried up
@@TheOnlyKontrol i'm responding to his exact question, the plants under the roof won't be damaged because the bleach will become diluted. What happens to the runoff is a separate matter.
You don’t make any promises. You say that depending on the future weather, your roof will be good for at least 6 months - 2 years. But every roof is different because of weather, and surrounding nature and sunlight levels and humidity and wind. Many factors go into it
About $35 for a 50ft hose and the sprayer attachment for your bleach. If the customer will let you use their hose, the hose attachment is about the same price as the pump sprayer.
@Stangboi I did pressure washing for a while. When you're getting started, hoses are expensive. It's good to have one, but if you need more lenth, home owners usually have hoses and they usually don't mind if you use theirs. You just have to start with smaller houses like this one where 50-100 feet of hose can do the whole job. Cuts your time down and you can get more money per day. Then upgrade a little bit each week.
Absolutely not! The last thing you want is all that bleach washing off your roof directly in to your yard and soil (where it leeches as stays and harms plants and animals) I believe what he is doing is actually illegal where I live
Don’t scrub wet shingles. Scrub before lightly, then rinse with chemicals. Then the organic matter will die off and should blow off in the wind or when it rains

Scrubbing shingles is a great way to need new shingles
Nice! How many times did you have to refill the two gallon tank to finish that roof?
Many times haha
I'd love to see you try and do that on UK roofs 🤣 would make for an interesting video!
Why do we gotta spray it, can't we just dump a bucket of whatevers in that sprayer over the spots of interest on the roof
Imagine how much damage that would cause to the plants below the roof…
How did you clean what was left on the roof? Chlorine doesn't remove the thick stuff
Do you rinse it off when done? Or just let the rain wash it away?
I wanna know too lol
In an older video I think he said that he leaves it because it rains often where he lives
If the home has any lanscaping that is watered by the gutter water, you should divert the gutter water and rinse the roof off.
You’re not supposed to scrub the roof because you could damage the shingles. Once the growth is dead Mother Nature will take care of the removal
Do you then scrub it off with something?
If it rains a lot in your area then no and if it doesn’t rain then use a water hose
