Hello -- I have played bari for many years. The last year and-a-half I have been studying guitar. There are many quality videos for guitar and I (have been enjoying them. I think that your instruction is clear, accessible and thorough. I hope to see more videos from you. Thank you, Jeff / Humble Baritonics and The Bad-Ass Baritone Ukulele. P.S. I will be sharing your video on Humble Baritonics.)
this is great info. Although I have been playing for ages, this is just not computing. Can you recommend another of you tutorials that would be a good intro to the tabs and blues...
@brettschneider2908 - Hi, do you mean how to work with the tabs? If you give me an idea of where you are getting stuck, I will try to make a recommendation.
My Baritone Uke has not arrived yet, but I am eager to start my lessons. I assume your tuning is DGBE, Right? So we're on the same page. I will subscribe. Two more weeks. Hurry up Mr. Postman!
I am really enjoying practicing his series of tuition. Thank you. I would like to be able to print off the music of all five episodes, that I am practicing , so I can have the whole sheets in front of me. Is this possible?
@David Dean - Hi, I am glad you are enjoying the series! I have additional episodes for this series that are still in progress. I hope you will find them helpful as well! On the sheet music, not yet. I do plan to have that option available in the future, but I am still working that out. Stay tuned! Thank you for watching! 🎶🎶
Thanks for your prompt reply, I won't settle until I have got all five episodes under my fingers. Thanks for taking your time doing this stuff for us.You are much appreciated.@@fretfrontier
Enjoying your tutorial very much. Why did you choose 7th chords in your blues progression? What would change if you had used major chords? Would the blues scale have to change to a major version as well? thanks.
@br549 fried - thank you for watching my video. Your question is actually big and interesting, but this is how I would summarize. Typically, a dominant seventh chord would only be used for the 5 chord. But when you’re playing the blues, you can use it on every chord in the 12-bar blues progression - the 1, 4, and 5 chords. This is because blues music is a hybrid of major and minor tonalities. Also, the dominant sound has become very much part of what we’re used to hearing as a backing to the blues. The main difference between the use of major and minor blues scales (and I’m simplifying here) is that when you use the major blues scale, as the chords change in a blues or other standard form, you have to change the scale along with them. With the minor blues scale you can play the same scale against the chords in the progression. You could think of it as ‘more generic’, i.e., able to accommodate more chord changes.
@br549 fried - new to the blues! That’s wonderful! acoustic blues is one of my favorite styles. In part two we add a melodic theme, and that will sound ever cooler! 🎶🎶

@@fretfrontier Thanks for the explanation. I'm new to blues and really enjoy the sound of this bass line with melody style.
