That movie is what kept my parents together. The first time it hit the cinemas, my parents filed a divorce, but they worked it out, and they stayed together. Thank God my parents are still together now.
My parents divorced shortly after this was released
@@danielm7435 I’m so sorry.
Aww
Mine aren’t
@@andreimcallister1365 feel sorry for you.
Dasha at the beginning: "Hopefully I wont cry"
First 10 minutes of up: "Yeah.. about that.."
That's what I was thinking.
I'm a grown man and I tear up every time I see the beginning of this film.
homo
43 years old and watching it with my wife the first time had us both dead.
Who doesn't? Best mini-movie with no dialogue that gives you ALL the feels! I swear if it doesn't get you, you must be dead inside.
I like to think that whenever Carl says “what have I got myself into Ellie?” Ellie’s up there bouncing up and down going “an adventure! An adventure! Go and enjoy it!”
Also one sad but beautiful touch is that he always wears a bow tie after Ellie dies, because she’s not there to tie his regular tie for him anymore 😢
The opening montage is arguably the most emotional non-verbal scene of the Pixar films. There are moments in Wall-E that come close.
My opinion Wall-E, is the flip side. Up best opening hands down other Pixar 2nd place not even close. Wall-E the ending is unbelievable. EVE’s desperate repair of Wall-E, followed by the despair when he doesn’t recognize her after rebooting. Then… the handhold. Just Wow.
This movie reminds me so much of my grandmother. She died one year before the pandemic. I couldn't show this movie to my grandparent (her husband), but he decided to watch it by himself. He said it was a great relief for him.
Yeah, Ed Asner was so perfect in this.
He passed away not that long ago, but he played grumpy old men for like fifty years.
Not to be confused with the 1993 film "Grumpy Old Men", which you should also totally watch.
Honestly, the first 10 minutes of this movie alone are worthy of an Oscar. One of the best opening sequences in any movie, ever - animated or otherwise.
Facts!
Isn’t it amazing how an animated movie can be more impactful, meaningful and emotional than most of the live action movies today.
And it did it in the first ten minutes.
not really unless you downplay animation as a medium, theyre just films, doesnt matter how theyre made.
@@WookieWarriorz - I don't think he was downplaying animated movies. I think he was pointing out how many live action films are not very well made.
@@clit_niblr0375 his entire comment is literally downplaying animated movies
@@josephg.1.130 - Or... or... he was making an observation that an animated film 'can be more impactful, meaningful and emotional than most of the live action movies today.'
It is incredible how fast this movie gets you emotionally invested. It produces tears in record time.
It's just MASTERFUL storytelling that Pixar was able to make everybody care THAT much, THAT quickly, and then completely devastate them to the point of tears within five minutes and _without a single word being said._
Disney found the magic that Walt was looking for. I don't know what it is other than magic and I love it.
This movie is so good!
The love story part hurts too. I've never lost a spouse, but I know someone that has. My mother.
My dad passed away almost 11 years ago. She still sleeps on her side of the bed. She still leaves a place for him at the table.
After being together for so long, 30ish years, certain habits stick with you.
To this day, I still cry when I think about all the milestones in my life that my dad has missed. My marriage, my big career, my first house, my first big renovation, my daughter
He is still there, even if you can't see him. He lives on in you and everyone you teach and love from his example.
When my mother lost my father, she followed within four years. She just couldn't live without him. It was well before her time, and she just gave up,. Couldn't bear cooking for one, couldn't bear being alone, and she was an only child. I understood, but it didn't stop it from hurting. My life has been radically different since I lost her, for both bad and good. We have a great effect on those whose lives we touch, and we need to always keep that in mind. You may not know when you are a positive force, but you are. I hope she is well and finding the happiness that surrounds her.
Dasha: "I want to be as charismatic as she is!"
Don't worry about that Dasha, mission accomplished you've got it in spades!😊
Pixar created a more meaningful and more beautiful love story in 6 minutes with no dialogue, than Hollywood ever managed within an hour and a half of Romeo and Juliet or The Notebook.
Russell’s parents are divorced in the movie, he talked about his dad’s girlfriend saying something that Russell bugs him too much
Dasha, of all the people on this planet you have the sweetest, kindest, heart of anyone I have ever seen. That you can be emotional over an animated movie is so amazingly nice. You are the best. My Russian grandfather would have adored you. He had a good heart like you, and I loved him dearly. You make reactions like this so very enjoyable, and I am sure most of us cry along with you. I can guarantee that I do!!!!! I hope that you never change!!!
I don't know anyone who has seen this movie who doesn't get emotional watching it.
She's the sweetest thing ever. When she cries i just want to hold her and comfort her lol
Waiting ... waiting ... waiting ... and there it is. Ten minutes in, and the tears, The most perfect piece of storytelling and we haven't even started yet. Everybody cries. I'm tearing up now and I've seen this a hundred times.
Trivia note: The brother of the kid who voiced Russell was the 1 who auditioned for the role, but the producers felt he wasn't the right age for the character, so they asked the kid who didn't audition for the role to voice Russell.
The small mailman?
*I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!* 😭 hehe
It’s allergies
I just got dirt in my eye
Damn it, just your reaction made me cry like I did when I first watched it. The opening 10 minutes is it's own gorgeous, heart breaking movie but they topped it with an eye-watering, sweet and funny feature.
Wonderful work as always Dasha.
If you think about it, he had no way down from Paradise Falls once he got there. He intended to sit there until he passed away and joined Ellie.
Great reactions to one of Pixar's most emotional films, Dasha!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Everybody cries after the first five minutes.😭
Your reaction was priceless! This now my favorite video on your channel!
"Let's go and watch and...hopefully not cry". Well that's got to be the shortest duration of a wish I've ever seen.
The boring stuff is the stuff I remember the most.
Man that's so true 👍
It's quite remarkable how this movie manages to in its opening 10 minutes tell the most beautiful and heart breaking love story in cinema history.
Disturbingly real and heavy. Excellent story telling. Pixar at its finest.
The beginning of this movie always gets me. Probably the saddest thing in all of Pixar movies..
It's a wonderfully melancholy movie, loved your reaction to the talking dogs 😃
"My name is Dug. I have just met you, and I love you." - 100% dog
The ice cream parlor at the end of the movie is based on a real place. Pixar headquarters are in Emeryville, California, which is right next to Oakland. Fenton's is an ice cream place that's been in Oakland since 1894. Pixar movies often have inside jokes and sly references to local landmarks and institutions.
The montage at the beginning of the movie is a masterpiece of storytelling. In just a few minutes it makes us feel the love between Carl and Ellie, establishes character, and creates motivation.
Other Pixar films I'd like for you to react to:
- The Toy Story movies
- A Bug's Life
- Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University
- Inside Out
Thanks!
Ooooh I’ve been looking forward to this~
U should check out other Pixar’s animation movies as well, most of them really good.
A lot of people miss that when they are spotting cars at the end of the movie (red one, blue one) that Dug says "gray one", because dog's are color blind. LOL
Dasha, I am so proud how well you took the first 12 minutes of the movie. Please don't hold back. Know that there's no one with a soul who can handle the beginning of this movie. None of us can. And you took it like a champ. You too should be proud of yourself. That being said, I absolutely love your channel although this may be the first time I'm actually writing you. I admire your intellect, your warmth, kindness and all around genuine reactions. I just wish you weren't spoiled about how sad it was.
Keep up the incredible work. You're a gem and one of a kind. 😁
Actually this is a movie that really... squirrel!!!!
Whenever you cried so did I.
2:54 you're pretty charismatic already Dasha. 🥰
Not much to say apart from... excellent reaction Dasha
This was inspired by an actual old little house in I believe NYC where it is surrounded on three sides by sky scrapers. Look up "actual Up house."
One of the best love stories on film, and it was told in 15 minutes.
Hello Dasha! Great reaction as always! Just a question: what's the opening Russian phrase?
There's a couple words I can't catch but the last two words are добро пожоловать (dobro pozholovat) which means welcome.
@@marcuscato9083 thanks
I had the chance to see Ed Asner in person when he was still around. There’s a series that takes place after the movie called Dug Days. It was one of his final projects, and it was released posthumously.
First movie I'd seen that made me cry within the first 15 minutes! Loved enjoying with you! Thanks Miss Dasha.🥰
I laughed as soon as you said you were going to try not to cry, you would have to be a psychopath or a robot not to cry when Ellie dies.
Being sad is not bad... about that... You have to watch another great Pixar movie: Inside Out (2015). You gonna love it!
One of the greatest intros in cinematic history 💔
Welcome to the Up club.Qualification crying in the first ten minutes
That opening sequence is so perfectly done that it's used as an example of visual storytelling techniques in animation classes. I watched it about ten times and I still get emotional while watching it.
This is my favorite animated movie. The opening montage is just heartbreaking. Fantastic reaction.
This was among my father's favorite movies. It was definitely his style of humor, but... we had also lost Mom 5 years prior, so that part resonated with him very strongly. It's a very touching movie, Dasha. Glad you liked it. Squirrel!
2:08 "girls be like..." 🙎🏼♀️
14:50 "dogs be like..." 🐶
Dasha, please react to 1917 (2019)
This movie has the best opening ever.
Everyone deserves a love like this. I just hope she shows up soon. I am ready for my adventure book.
The best part of the movie is the first 10 minutes
That early montage gets me every single time. No dry eyes.
Hopefully we won't cry...
First 15 minutes of movie: Hold my beer...
"Up": A movie about Carl's life with Ellie, which ended before they could go to Paradise Falls. Then Russell comes into his empty life, and their lives change in unexpected ways.
this UP intro is one of the few Pixar movies that make me cry
Up won an Oscar for best animated film thank you Dasha. By the way The Paradise Falls is based on Angel Falls one of the greatest waterfalls of the world located in Canaima National Park in Venezuela
In Brazil and Guyana too
@@lauranascimento2589 👍👍
Famous last words - I don't think I'll need any tissues watching Up. You won't need just any tissues... you'll need ALL the tissues!
I’m just 30 seconds into the video and I have to say this before I go any further……. I’m a grown man, totally toxic masculinity going on here, I don’t cry for movies (at least not that I let people see), I don’t share my emotions….. I was BAWLING when I saw this in theaters. I’m guessing you will be too. Tissue is not enough; you need a therapist on standby.
Onto the movie.
And 27 minutes later I can confirm it still works…
I love this movie.
Ohhh Dasha! This movie still makes me cry before it really gets started. Ellie and Carl? Life-long crush. You cannot beat it. I often wondered how different it would have been if Ellie was the one who met Russell, Dug, and Kevin. She probably wouldn't have sent Russell on a Snipe hunt though. Then there would have been a different reason that they obtained Kevin's trust. And the crazy super adventure guy would have a different reaction to her. And then he Ellie pin thing. And SQUIRREL!
Another Disney movie I thank Dasha would enjoy if she hasn’t watched it would be Brave.
It gets me every time. Even watching it all edited like this, it still gets me. Every time.
I love your sweet and tender heart, and your wonderful, empathetic reactions!
Dasha. I always love your reactions. Seeing you cry so much, proves yo have a pure heart and you're a good person.
You're lovely
Even if you don't react to them, PLEASE watch the short series "Dug Days" if you can. It's a few little episodes that capture all of their lives AFTER the movie, Carl & Dug's new house, and how Russell and his mom end up moving in LITERALLY NEXT DOOR. It's a wonderful little series and really funny!
The director said Russell was inspired by his neighbor in real life Russell Jang. Carl is based on a character from "Guess Who's coming to Dinner?"
If you like movies with main characters as talking dogs you may wish to watch Isle of Dogs (2018). You might want tissues for that one too.
I’m still searching for my Ellie 😞 I can’t speak for everyone obviously but I don’t think many people in the world today have the kind of relationship they had in the movie. I’m hoping I can find someone to spend the rest of my life with, and there 100% has to be a Dug too! 😂
That's my wife and I. Married 25 years. Dated for 3. Not even 50 yet. True love is out there.
I'm not sure what the Russian term for aerial fight between 2 fighter planes is, but in English, it's called a "dog fight." So it's also a pun when the dogs fly out in planes to attack Carl and Russell in the floating house.
During the Acadmy Awards the composer of the score music won the Oscar. He went on stage wearing the Ellie button.
I want Doug to be my dog
Yes, Dasha, such love does exist, and one day in the future when you watch this movie with your kids, you'll know.
Впервые наткнулась на этот канал и было очень мило и неожиданно услышать русский язык в начале ролика)
This is such a fun movie and such a super reaction, Dasha. Loved the animation and the cool story.
You should check out Over the hedge. It's my favorite animated movie ever with great cast and humor too.
The opening few minutes or so is some of the best story telling in movie history - with no actual dialogue. Show, don't tell perfected
*"...and hopefully not cry."*
Well, about that...
"I wish Ellie could be here to see all of that."
Girl, don't make me cry! I'm already having a hard time with the opening sequence!
this one is such a gem..... the intro-story always gets me....
Best Dog Ever: "I hid under the porch because I love you."
The reason Doug found the bird and the others didn't is because Doug is the only dog bred for hunting. All of the others were bred to be guardians.
Classic movie.
Dasha: Well guys (says something in Russian).
Me: Tha hell did she say?
I enjoy this channel.
The first ten minutes are rough. Darn, my allergies are acting up.
The world will try to break you, but you don’t have to let it. I don’t go back to this very often because it is a painful watch, but I do love the kernel of hope wrapped in all that sadness.
You are one cute girl. I absolutely loved watching your reaction to this sweet fun movie.
I believe the movie message is "Life is what happens when you have other plans "
Im gonna bet she cries in the first 5 mins.
Edit: We all knew.
I think you are the most genuine reactor on UA-cam. Your reactions are totally real and never faked. Your reactions are nearly the same as mine. You should definitely have a lot more followers. 👍
You need to watch the Movie Bolt! It's a bit older than this but you would enjoy it!
My daughter used this movie a lot when she tried contact lenses. Whenever she needed to put them in or take them out, but her eyes were too dry, she watched a few minutes of Up to get the waterworks going.
God damn it. I have seen this movie so many times and there are still these ninjas chopping onions right into my eyes every time the intro plays :`(
Congratulations you passed the test. You're a compassionate human being with real feelings. If you aren't in tears when Elle dies you're a sociopath. It's literally the best test I know.
The first ten minutes of the movie is more romantic and heartbreaking than most entire movies
This movie hits close to home for me, my grandfather lost his wife too, they lived through the depression WW2, every major even of the last 80-90- years they witnessed until her death about a decade ago,he went in the opposite direction ,he sold his house, sold everything that reminded him of her because of how devasted he was he couldn't bear the thought of not being with her anymore.im crying writing this seeing his face just a shell of his former self, no more life in his eyes his voice half as booming as it used to be and he won't spare more than 2 minutes to talk to me on the phone. This kind of love is rare and when you see it in person for most of your life you realize that true love is possible, damn it why did i watch thi now im crying! My grandparents were these two characters in real life and i am happy that my grandfather is making it through each day even though i know all he wants to do is be able to hold his baby again one last time. and see her face and hear her voice again.
Dasha, thank you for this, it was beautiful to see such genuine reactions from you to this animated movie. I watched this movie in theaters when it came out and i cried too when they showed him at his wifes funeral. The dogs were the only reason i could laugh watching this, Doug is my spirit animal a big dumb lovable good boy who just wants to please his master.
You definitely need to see Inside Out. It will wreck you
Looks like you found one to add to your collection! Thank you for the wonderful reaction!
Squirrel!!!
