I've always enjoyed watching Harb, he's funny, he's skilled, he even takes his mistakes on the chin and laughs it off, but what I see with his reaction to this while ordeal made me gain massive respect for him. Of all people he has more reason than any other person to be mad and throw a riot but he didn't. He congratulated Chipsa for getting the opportunity and even admitted his anger and jealousy in a mature and respectable way. Mad props to Harb, man. I do hope he gets signed on in the near future.
I think most of the viewers and general public misinterpret the outrage direction as it is more aim towards fusions decision rather than chipsa. Of course chipsa would take it anyone going for pro would not hesitate if they tried. The only thing people joke towards chipsa direction is more of a scoff of the "resume" of achievements chipsa has along with his "wide range of hero usage". Not saying he is bad there are by far better choices than chipsa who have more versatility, better at the hero, and know the pro "scene" better.

Jayne's point on an easy explanation for path to pro for open division needing to be in game is actually really brilliant. I just hit GM for the first time and I want to actually play with a team but I have no idea how to. I just play after work most days and have fun but seriously, I love the team aspect the most and I want it so bad
Also, that actually happens a lot. Teams have to take three goalkeepers no matter what, do you really think all teams going to the World Cup have three top tier or even pro keepers to take? Anyway since national teams can't sign people it's not the best comparison anyway. And having connections do help a lot in football, many sons of former players get a good chance at teams their fathers played in for instance. Not saying it's fair, but it happens everywhere so I don't know why people think eSports would be some sort of super holy place where people only get signed for skill and not popularity, contacts, etc.

My problem with chipsa being in OWL isn’t the fact that he’s basically only competent on one hero (as far as we know), but his mentality. As i see it ,there is no way that any pro with a mentality such as “that was unlucky and there was nothing i can do about it, my gameplay is perfect” can actually be a competitive player in the long run, yeah it’s funny on stream, but in competitive that thinking process just limits your ability to improve at the game. My prediction is that he’s gonna get absolutely destroyed
He is signed as a specialist and if there is a doomfist meta, the Fusion got a top 3 doom sitting on their bench. To be honest, Chipsa won't even be in the regular rotation, he is signed to increase the popularity of the team and as a doom specialist.
It all comes down to how Chipsa does in league now He's gotta pop off or go home, simple. If he pops off, he's proven everyone wrong that the Fusion made the correct decision, and he earned his spot on the team. If he doesn't, people are gonna see this as a big fck-up / joke

I am all for Jayne's Concern and what he's saying about T2 is completely true. But we shouldn't be aiming anything at ChipSa whatsoever. the OWL losing money part is misunderstood. anyone investing in OWL understands that they are not making a profit for a few years. rarely does a business this venture have a profitably turnaround right away
If OWL investors were losing that much money, and there was no money to be made, why would the number of teams have literally doubled between season 1 and 2. These millionaire/billionaire investors are not stupid. There is obviously money to be made

I can understand their frustration in a way because something similar has happened to me. When you yourself work so hard to achieve something just to see someone who is slightly "above average" get an opportunity that you could've got being the better person it is infuriating and sad at the same time so I can totally see why they'd be frustrated, upset annoyed etc but it's also good for him being able to get that opportunity I guess.
This is a very touchy topic and I'm honestly very happy and proud in a sense that Chipsa has made it into the OWL. Chipsa has the skill of an OWL player, he has demonstrated that in the past, however his absence in the pro scene isn't unacceptable by any means but it definitely isn't helping his situation. Even if he was signed onto a different team there would still be controversy as he essentially skipped contenders and went straight from GM/T500 to playing professionally. Signing onto the team that is coached by his brother was *seriously* a sketchy move. Chipsa already essentially cut in line of a very long metaphorical queue and thats what leaves people believing that his brother had a role in his guaranteeing a signing. I don't blame him for taking the position because it truly is an offer of a lifetime. I personally wouldn't think anything of it if Chipsa had just signed onto a different team but I can't help but feel he definitely had help putting his foot in the door by his brother. Despite all the controversy, I can't wait and look forward to see Chipsa perform in the OWL.

He doesn't have the mechanical skill of someone such as Dafran or Surefour but he still pulls his weight in game. Overwatch isn't just about who can hit the nuttiest shots, its about coming up with plays and working as a team.

We literally saw this shit in S1 when dive fell out of the meta and all the Winston, trace and genji 1 tricks fell on their ass. No one is blaming chipsa, they are upset at the team for making the decision. If doomfist falls out of the meta then this will be the biggest fuck you to all the Tier 2 players. These type of decisions are what discourage people from even wanting to attempt to go pro. Spending 12+ hours a day grinding with a team to push through the t2 bracket to MAYBE have a chance at getting signed to a team, then you have decisions like that were teams pick up a 1 trick who has little to no pro play experience, no idea on if he will even be able to adapt to pro play ( which is extremely important considering the amount of insane players they couldn't perform in OWL). Overwatch in general isn't all about mechanics, but when your at the pro scene where every player has insane game sense, play knowledge and mechanics, you cant get away with not having one of them.

I don’t get why this such a big deal, he has played as close as he possibly can to everyday of the past 2 years, 10-12 hours sessions, probably more off stream. It doesn’t matter if he was in t3 or t2. It matters if he is good enough a Fusions seems to think so
Listen to Jayne talk about it and you'll get why people are so annoyed. Jayne himself has put a lot of his personal time and effort into making the tier two league a real thing. Running tournaments, promoting players, pushing for T2 players into the limelight, campaigning for them to get paid. And it's a hell of a slap in the face to people like Jayne and all of the T2 players who have put in so much work. The contenders scene was set up for the specific reason of finding new players for OWL teams to pick up. You can't set something up with the promise of something then screwing all of those players over by picking up a streamer. At this point there is no need to play in contenders. Just play on the ladder, stream on twitch and get picked up. You'd make more money that way. Also literally no one is blaming Chipsa. Everyone is just pointing out that he got to skip over the system that was put in place for the specific purpose of getting into OWL.

Michael Dearsley and that is the message being given; the system made up isn’t OWLs system. Contenders is similar to college football today; everyone is making a penny except for the players. The player, as you said, can make better money being on twitch. Are even YT publishers today; their claim is giving creators a larger platform but it’s just all about the money which recent years has shown a huge rift between those two parties. I’m glad this happened and helps encourage gamers in knowing they can get into OWL without signing up to be a part of a self-proclaimed nomination system.
@@jumnious But the way to fix it isn't just to say 'stream and hope to get picked up'. OWL teams have stream teams for that specific reason. For them to hire twitch streamers with large followings to play under their title. OWL is meant to be about hiring the best not the most entertaining. The only way to fix it is for the people behind OWL to put more attention on the T2 scene. Make it a viable option instead of it being a dead end of failed promises and no money. They either need to fix contenders or just get rid of it completely and go back to allowing smaller unofficial tournaments.

So here’s the thing: all OWL teams are individual organizations who are paying people to play for their team. For that reason, any team can sign any one for any reason they choose. I think this is a great pick up for the fusion because Chipsa is going to bring in a lot of fusion fans. I bet people are already anticipating the Chipsa jersey drop. Also, having a doom specialist is nice because doom seemingly always finds a way to creep into the meta. Playing in path to pro does not promise you anything. These contenders players aren’t entitled to a spot on any OWL team. At the end of the day, the OWL teams get to pick who they want to pay, and fusion want to pay Chipsa for the reasons stated above.

Also he left his team and just started being sponsored by them so the team could still get name recognition like they obviously want from Chipsa since there's no other reason to add a doomfist one trick to a roster that already has a better doomfist player in a season where he probably won't even be meta to pick

Whats annoying me about all of this is the fact they the arent recognising that OW teams are businesses, why did Atlanta reign pick up dafran sure hes good but they are better tier 2 players as well is the recognition that fusion will have now because of chipa. Like as jayne said OW is making money and neither are the teams but when people buy player merch the team, OW and the player get a cut the main bit is to focus on the team aspect here as we all saw dafrans jersey was the highest selling jersey in season 2 and xQc in season 1 is this because they are good players? no its because of the recognition behind the player as such merch sales up = money up for team. Jayne's point on an easy explanation for path to pro for open division needing to be in game is actually really brilliant. I just hit GM for the first time and I want to actually play with a team but I have no idea how to. I just play after work most days and have fun but seriously, I love the team aspect the most and I want it so bad

Also, that actually happens a lot. Teams have to take three goalkeepers no matter what, do you really think all teams going to the World Cup have three top tier or even pro keepers to take? Anyway since national teams can't sign people it's not the best comparison anyway. And having connections do help a lot in football, many sons of former players get a good chance at teams their fathers played in for instance. Not saying it's fair, but it happens everywhere so I don't know why people think eSports would be some sort of super holy place where people only get signed for skill and not popularity, contacts, etc.

My problem with chipsa being in OWL isn’t the fact that he’s basically only competent on one hero (as far as we know), but his mentality.
As i see it ,there is no way that any pro with a mentality such as “that was unlucky and there was nothing i can do about it, my gameplay is perfect” can actually be a competitive player in the long run, yeah it’s funny on stream, but in competitive that thinking process just limits your ability to improve at the game.

I am all for Jayne's Concern and what he's saying about T2 is completely true. But we shouldn't be aiming anything at ChipSa whatsoever. He was given an opportunity, he has demonstrated he most definitely has the skill, and so he just took it. All the hate should either be towards the orgs or blizzard.

I can understand their frustration in a way because something similar has happened to me. When you yourself work so hard to achieve something just to see someone who is slightly "above average" get an opportunity that you could've got being the better person it is infuriating and sad at the same time so I can totally see why they'd be frustrated, upset annoyed etc but it's also good for him being able to get that opportunity I guess.

This is a very touchy topic and I'm honestly very happy and proud in a sense that Chipsa has made it into the OWL. Chipsa has the skill of an OWL player, he has demonstrated that in the past, however his absence in the pro scene isn't unacceptable by any means but it definitely isn't helping his situation. Even if he was signed onto a different team there would still be controversy as he essentially skipped contenders and went straight from GM/T500 to playing professionally. Signing onto the team that is coached by his brother was *seriously* a sketchy move. Chipsa already essentially cut in line of a very long metaphorical queue and thats what leaves people believing that his brother had a role in his guaranteeing a signing. I don't blame him for taking the position because it truly is an offer of a lifetime. I personally wouldn't think anything of it if Chipsa had just signed onto a different team but I can't help but feel he definitely had help putting his foot in the door by his brother. Despite all the controversy, I can't wait and look forward to see Chipsa perform in the OWL.
Yeah I completely agree. I cant help but agree somewhat with Jayne and Harb, even though I think Jayne shouldve reacted more professionally. At the same time, like anything else, unfortunately the world isnt fair and you have to jump at the opportunities given to you.

He doesn't have the mechanical skill of someone such as Dafran or Surefour but he still pulls his weight in game. Overwatch isn't just about who can hit the nuttiest shots, its about coming up with plays and working as a team.
@@andrewparritt5269 It does in the OWL when you have a 1 trick on your team who cant play other heros even relatively at that level. We literally saw this shit in S1 when dive fell out of the meta and all the Winston, trace and genji 1 tricks fell on their ass. No one is blaming chipsa, they are upset at the team for making the decision. If doomfist falls out of the meta then this will be the biggest fuck you to all the Tier 2 players. These type of decisions are what discourage people from even wanting to attempt to go pro. Spending 12+ hours a day grinding with a team to push through the t2 bracket to MAYBE have a chance at getting signed to a team, then you have decisions like that were teams pick up a 1 trick who has little to no pro play experience, no idea on if he will even be able to adapt to pro play ( which is extremely important considering the amount of insane players they couldn't perform in OWL). Overwatch in general isn't all about mechanics, but when your at the pro scene where every player has insane game sense, play knowledge and mechanics, you cant get away with not having one of them.
I think people forgot that OWL and all sports are a source of entartaiment and sometimes team are just going to pick players that are popular just to improve addvertizing

Joseph Lee Chipsa has definitely put in the work. I don’t get why this such a big deal, he has played as close as he possibly can to everyday of the past 2 years, 10-12 hours sessions, probably more off stream. It doesn’t matter if he was in t3 or t2. It matters if he is good enough a Fusions seems to think so
Listen to Jayne talk about it and you'll get why people are so annoyed. Jayne himself has put a lot of his personal time and effort into making the tier two league a real thing. Running tournaments, promoting players, pushing for T2 players into the limelight, campaigning for them to get paid. And it's a hell of a slap in the face to people like Jayne and all of the T2 players who have put in so much work. The contenders scene was set up for the specific reason of finding new players for OWL teams to pick up. You can't set something up with the promise of something then screwing all of those players over by picking up a streamer. At this point there is no need to play in contenders. Just play on the ladder, stream on twitch and get picked up. You'd make more money that way.
Also literally no one is blaming Chipsa. Everyone is just pointing out that he got to skip over the system that was put in place for the specific purpose of getting into OWL.

Michael Dearsley and that is the message being given; the system made up isn’t OWLs system. Contenders is similar to college football today; everyone is making a penny except for the players. The player, as you said, can make better money being on twitch. Are even YT publishers today; their claim is giving creators a larger platform but it’s just all about the money which recent years has shown a huge rift between those two parties.
I’m glad this happened and helps encourage gamers in knowing they can get into OWL without signing up to be a part of a self-proclaimed nomination system.
@@jumnious But the way to fix it isn't just to say 'stream and hope to get picked up'. OWL teams have stream teams for that specific reason. For them to hire twitch streamers with large followings to play under their title. OWL is meant to be about hiring the best not the most entertaining. The only way to fix it is for the people behind OWL to put more attention on the T2 scene. Make it a viable option instead of it being a dead end of failed promises and no money.
They either need to fix contenders or just get rid of it completely and go back to allowing smaller unofficial tournaments.

I think it's right choice map specific df main who is in meta is better than the player who forced to play the hero. Plus ropz from csgo got directly into major playing team from faceit(competitive server) instead of playing tournaments and he performed so well.

So here’s the thing: all OWL teams are individual organizations who are paying people to play for their team. For that reason, any team can sign any one for any reason they choose.
I think this is a great pick up for the fusion because Chipsa is going to bring in a lot of fusion fans. I bet people are already anticipating the Chipsa jersey drop. Also, having a doom specialist is nice because doom seemingly always finds a way to creep into the meta.
Playing in path to pro does not promise you anything. These contenders players aren’t entitled to a spot on any OWL team. At the end of the day, the OWL teams get to pick who they want to pay, and fusion want to pay Chipsa for the reasons stated above.
They talk about all the T2 players, nobody batted an eyelid when Dafran joined or anyone else who came up from streaming.
Someone seems to have neglected to see that Dafran was in fact a pro player before who did a lot of grinding. Also he left his team and just started being sponsored by them so the team could still get name recognition like they obviously want from Chipsa since there's no other reason to add a doomfist one trick to a roster that already has a better doomfist player in a season where he probably won't even be meta to pick

Whats annoying me about all of this is the fact they the arent recognising that OW teams are businesses, why did Atlanta reign pick up dafran sure hes good but they are better tier 2 players as well is the recognition that fusion will have now because of chipa. Like as jayne said OW is making money and neither are the teams but when people buy player merch the team, OW and the player get a cut the main bit is to focus on the team aspect here as we all saw dafrans jersey was the highest selling jersey in season 2 and xQc in season 1 is this because they are good players? no its because of the recognition behind the player as such merch sales up = money up for team. Furthermore the team will now have a new influx of fans which looks very good to show off in order to get investors. Because of this even though chipsa might not be top tier OWL he is still worth to bring on to play in games

EZ CL4PZ I’d imagine the recruiters in owl are aware of the fact that the meta shifts every 1-2 seasons due to balancing by blizzard (in this case on ptr we have double shield meta being nerfed to shit) so I have some doubts that doomfist is gonna be as viable in 1-2 seasons.

And in no way has an assistant coach ever persuaded the GM or main coach to ever hire a player. Chipsas brother even said he didnt want anything to do with Chipsa on the team.
