I become a follower 4 or 6 days ago. Great channel!. I have built this kit and enjoyed it a loot. Simple build and nice subject

Hey Jon, another great vid. You’re right this aircraft is very much underserved by western model manufacturers. Great subject matter. I was trying to put together a Korean War build and was looking for a North Korean Yak in 1/48 but sadly few to be found for the 9K. Found one from A.models but it was 1/72 and a nightmare. Thanks!

Zvezda makes a Yak-9T (Kit No. 4831). It's a good kit - very detailed, but very fiddly. I'm pretty sure that the only external difference between the T and K is the cannon muzzle that protrudes from the prop (easily fabricated).
You can make a K from this ICM kit and a DD (in fact, the label on the box it Yak-9T/K/DD. The Yak-9K cannon muzzle is included. The same modifications I recommend for the T apply to those versions as well. The ICM is the cheapest starting point. Hope that helps!

@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 thanks I will look into both the ICM and Zvezda. I’ve built some Zvezda and I have to say they were very good kits quality and assembly!

@@SCSuperheavy114 The Zvezda should give the best result.

Hello Jon, very good video and explanation of the construction and its details to take into account, I built a 9t yak from Ark Models, I don't know if it was a rehash of ICM, it was not a bad design, decent details, but it was not easy to assemble. It was my first kit of my return to modeling, along with the mig 3, its very cheap value, novel for having a plane from the French squadron on the eastern front
I still have to build a Zvezda yak 3 as a comparison, to finish with respect to the ICM decals, many of the initial ICM models are somewhat soft, thin and tend to break, if you touch a good batch they look very good almost flush, it is a lottery hahahaha
greetings and wait for the next video

The Ark Models kit is the same kit, I think. You're correct about the hit or miss quality of the ICM kits. They range from pretty good to really bad. I bought this kit second-hand. When I opened the box, there were 2 complete kits inside plus resin wheels and an LTD Yak-9 decal sheet in addition to the 2 ICM sheets. Not bad for $10! The Zvezda Yak-3 is very nice in comparison to the ICM Yaks except for the decals - I'll review the Zvezda kit soon. Cheers!

    Good Morning from OHIO
Another Ruff n Ready RUSSIAN aircraft…
    Always great content from you…
    wasn’t there a BOND movie called…
    From RUSSIA with Love ???
the no frills RUSSIAN aircraft design…
I guess the Russian aircraft had to be rough due to the Russian weather and terrain…
Since you’ve been doing these Russian aircraft kits, I’ve been doing some research on the different variety of designs…
Kits available and aftermarket products… might just decide to put one together…
You See, your channel does inspire modelers…
there’s a IPMS SHOW coming up in GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN in OCTOBER…
Will see what’s available in RUSSIAN aircraft…
    Enjoyed watching this…
Keep them coming, and I’ll keep watching 👀…
    Model On………………

Right on, Chris! As much as I like the German/American/British WWII aircraft, I like researching and building kits that are outside the norm. It's hard to build the best Bf109 at a show, but the best Yak-9... that's another story. Plus, there is so much fun research to do on the lesser known aircraft, and every luftexperten won't be pointing out your mistakes. Cheers!

I’ve sold all my Eastern European kits.. just way to much work for my skills and patience. You would think for the prices there would be better tooling and fit.. Do an LTD kit.. that’s a flash mess !!!

I'm with you. I've owned and sold several LTD kits (never built one). These ICM kits are much easier in comparison and respond well to improvement. They present no construction challenges (if you leave the engine out). Cheers

Modern ICM and Zvezda kits are everything you'd expect from a modern kit to be.
I've built some old ICM kits and they were an absolute nightmare.

    • @jonsmodelkitreview4624

@@christosswc I agree. The old ICM kits were hit or miss on both kit design and individual kit quality. This one looks decent (if built without the engine). I've built three of the ICM Yak-7 kits, so this one feels very familiar. Cheers!
