This was around the time of 9/11 (maybe a few months after?). I remember even as a little girl the temperature in the country. We were over it. This performance embodied how we felt.. so powerful. As an adult now with some real life experiences the song and this performance is that much more meaningful. I remember my mom (r.i.p 🤍) loved seeing mary perform this song in particular
