2013 Nissan Altima Hood Won't Open - Cable Stretched

- 2013 Nissan Altima Hood would not open. Claim cable stretched. Note cable was returned and not broken, so either it was stretched or became unhooked (which is suspicious). Would like to hear your similar stories. Should latch be lubricated?
