- The second in what could become a few more job guides. I've always had a thing for Geomancer and I find it to be an engaging job if one takes the time to invest properly in it and not just use it as a free meal ticket.
Incidentally, my character, Ruaumoko, is actually named after the Maori (Polynesian) deity of seasons. Seems fitting for a Geomancer!
On a more humorous note I understand that it is 'Indicolure' and 'Geocolure' but I could have sworn that they were once labelled in-game as 'Closure' and I've used that term ever since. Oh well, same thing!

This video is amazing so far. The way you are explaining how the abilities work is just perfect. Thanks so much for breaking it down and explaining it simply.
Note: You can position your GEO - Loupan spell by going into your spell list, hold ALT and then using the directional pad Up, Down, Left, and Right, then select where you want to cast your Loupan. This is positioning your Loupan so it can be out of range of conal attacks short range AoE attacks or spells. Nice work on the video though, it should help beginning GEO's out. I'm floored that I'm just now finding this out. Is there any chance you know how to do this on a controller? Possibly the ALT macro trigger when using ?

Thank you for the tips and explanations. I used your guide to get my geo up and running after returning to the game in January. I have had an absolute blast with the job at linkshell events and in solo play. I used your tips to master my geo through solo play and nuking mobs. I'm 3 months away from beginning my Idris quest but I'm working toward it nonetheless.

Nice guide, thanks! One piece of gear I regularly recommend to other GEOs is Seidr Cotehardie. It returns MP based on nuke damage, just like the BLM AF body. I think most people scoff at it because it's not ilvl, but it can really help with the MP issues I see many GEOs having.
I agree. My SCH and RDM get great use out of the Seidr Cotehardie. Amazing nuke body that's underrated.
This vid really makes me more interested in playing my geo, but at the same time I'm hesitant about it because I've never really played a casting job before...

What should I put job points on?
Can someone explain to me if there is any difference between the geo aoe elemental spells and blm spells? Such as Stonra and Stonega. I was really excited for something new till I popped it off and just pulled extra mobs hah i was hoping for something akin to a geo spell but for damage.
Geo AoE spells are based around where the GEO is standing and BLM is based around where the Mob is standing... I believe
Good video, 1-99 goes so fast these days so it's kidna hard to udnerstand all jobs.

new player here, this might be a silly question. would a macro for nuking that swapped to a gear set that had an ammo slot item that gives MAB or INT that then puts me back in my idle set with my hand bell still be a bad idea? or do I want to keep my hand bell on even then?
I'd keep the Dunna on at all times, you can get Magic Accuracy on it as an augment; which odds are you're going to need.

Cure the tank when they have hate on everything and it will also register you for Geo Frailty’s effect.

Hi Ruaumoko. I've watched several of your videos and enjoy them.
I've not started Geomancer yet but I've been interested. At 6:00, you mentioned Indiclosures cannot be powered up? So increasing handbell and geomancy skill only make Geoclosures better?
I think he means that only Geo- spells are boosted by Job Abilities such as Blaze of Glory, Indi- spells are not (except by Bolster).

There are still a lot of people playing ffxi on both retail and private server
They're very different games. It really just depends on whether you want a grindy old school MMO or a more casual MMO. They're both great games and I play them both.

Idk why but ffxi seems alot harder than any other mmo I've played lol. I'm leveling GEO now just hit 52 on Asura I enjoy the job alot I'm just overwhelmed by all the spells we get.

As a new player it's useful. I like to know what I'm getting into before playing a job, no matter how easy or hard they're perceived to be.
