With the recent trend of Alton reimagining classic attractions (Curse at Alton Manor, Nemesis Reborn) I’d love to see what they could do with a reimagining of this ride.
Thanks so much for watching! So glad you enjoyed the video, it certainly holds fond memories for lots of fans, but yeah I've heard it did get quite rough! coaster technology has come a long way for sure!
Hi, thanks so much for watching! I will definitely have a look into this. I'm really busy at the moment but during closed season I'm going to return with some more history videos!
It was fine for the 80's, but by the late 90's not only was it starting to get rougher, but also starting to feel tame by comparison to other newer rides. I was shocked it was kept around for so long. The last time I went on it was 2001, and I can't remember much in the way of screaming riders.
Thanks so much for watching! Unfortunately, I actually never got to ride the Corkscrew, which I am absolutely gutted about, hopefully ill check out one of the clones some day! Coaster technology has definitely come a long way since the days of this ride though, that's for sure!
Thanks for watching! It certainly was towards the end of it's operating life, one of the various reasons it was removed I'm sure! But it is definitely an iconic coaster!
Thanks so much for watching! It was the most iconic ride in the history of Alton Towers for sure, it would be awesome to see them do something like that!
Well, I never got to ride it at all! Wish I could have had the chance! There are still other models remaining so maybe I will get the chance to ride one some day!
Thanks so much for watching! I will certainly look at doing this going forwards, I do really enjoy doing the history videos! I only planned on doing 3 for Alton Towers for now, but I do plan on doing some more after summer!

I rode it in the early 90s and was pretty rough then. Pretty sure it was my first coaster with inversions. Cant say i have fond memories of it.

Well made video. Your vids are well put together, interesting and professional. I think your channel needs more subscribers.
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words. I really enjoy making the history videos and I will definitely be making more going forwards!
You should make one for The Beast next to finish of the big four rollercoasters that have been removed from AT

The Ride is so ruff

the Corkscrew was iconic. I would be cool if they made Corkscrew number no2. bigger and better than Smiler.

I only rid the corkscrew once when I was 8 years old
