Finally something different and deeper. Photo Archeology. I think about my work and mortality often. You honor Gary's work, life, and passion and in return he inspired you. Beautiful, man.
Interesting video nice one rescueing these images from ineviatable destruction, so that his photos will live on for eternity and I'm sure will inspire future generations.
this is wonderful!! I was just reading "why people photograph" by robert adams and pondering on how incredible photographic legacies can be and this is a beautiful example of all the points adams makes in that book. Thank you for this Bren!!:) I live in the sierra nevadas and love seeing your work from reno and realizing we were out shooting on the same day lol
I will need to look into getting this book. It sounds quite interesting! That’s awesome that we were shooting on the same day. I love photographing around Reno, 395, and Highway 70. It’s the ultimate therapy for me👍
Brilliant video well done on highlighting Garys exceptional work. I love shooting landscapes but as a press photographer myself it's always the people images I look back on with most pride especially ones where the passage of time makes the images more Important, to me at least. I've had the talk with my kids, when I'm gone chuck me in the incinerator with a camera in my dead cold hand, and look after my Images. As I'm far too busy shooting and too ;any to get into book creation I reckon in years to come some of my stuff will be a valuable record of Interest. A while back I bought an old 120 folder on an auction site in the photos I spotted a roll of film in the camera so I bought it, contacted the seller to ask if I could dev the film, I swear It's the one video on my chan I go back to watch from time to time such a great feeling bring old images to life and the pleasure it gave the family, just priceless. Keep up the awesome work Bren cheers
Thanks for sharing you background Paul! Images of people, and portraiture in general, seem to really resonate the most through the years. I’ll have to check out your video about the roll from the folder!
@@ExpiredBren definitely carry more weight looking back on old photos when people are in the pictures. I have a few vids on my chan featuring folders, like the Bessa 2, lovely camera, the Ikonta M amazing camera, and a couple of others too, great value for money that produce cracking images and all fit in the pocket. love em.
Great one of Neil Young there and of David Crosby. I think that's Springsteen with the E-Street Band there too. The rock formations are the absolute cream of the crop though. Stunning. I'd have them on my wall if I'd taken them.
for reference the aircraft tail is a Convair 880, or a 990 a 1960's jet airliner similar and a direct competitor to the Boeing 707. It was for a time the fastest airliner until the concord, with a maximum speed around 620MPH. it's rumored that it could go supersonic in a dive. very few were produced and they weren't popular as they guzzled fuel. that's a very nice shot and it may be the one preserved at Scroggins Aviation in Mojave, CA. If it's a 990 it could be the NASA one as the paint job fits better for that, she's preserved at the entrance to the Mojave Spaceport. but them again I'm not sure... very few survived from the 65 built. its really nice to see someone's work saved from the dumpster and it's very commendable to give life after death to Gary, whomever he was, we all now know of him and his work, thankyou for that.
Thank you for the insights about the Convair 880! Given the context it would mostly be the one in Mojave, as Gary also photographed the nearby Trona Pinnacles at the same time
It definitely looks like the Trona Pinnacles, thanks! I was thinking that the formation would have been in Mono or Inyo County, but apparently I should have been looking more south
I am from the Bay Area - San Francisco, You said Gary, I work with a person name Gary at a Camera Store in SF, He work in our repair department. what was Gary Last name??
This Gary was based out of San Jose mostly and worked as a news photographer, and the moved up to Butte County some years ago. If that matches the Gary that you know then they could be one and the same!

I’m happy to hear that you liked his work and the video!
gary must have been a realy passionate photographer. stunning work 100%. thanks for sharing this bren.
I could definitely see that he and I share such a passion, and I’m sure many more feel the same way!
Interesting video nice one rescueing these images from ineviatable destruction, so that his photos will live on for eternity and I'm sure will inspire future generations.

Is 6:14 a photo of Warren Zevon?
Awesome video. Incredible work. Something I think about often.
Good eye! That would be my guess. Gary took quite a few concert photos, some of which appear at the end of the video
Really amazing find and thank for sharing!
I’m glad that you liked it!

Great video! You totally did right by Gary! I'm sure he's happy you ended up with the collection!
Thank you!
Love your work. I binge watched all your videos and this one, amazing. I think Gary inspired us all!
I’m happy to hear that he may have inspired you, as his work has certainly done the same for me👍
That final montage of photos is incredible.
I really should have added more at the end. There was so much of his work that was just great👍
amazing work, this is really touching
I’m glad that you liked the video!
Those rock formations are the Trona Pinnacles in Searles Dry Lake. Beautifully shot by the photographer.
Awesome
This amazing, a piece of history saved.
Great work, in honour of Garry
I tried by best to do his photos justice!

Thanks to some help in the comment section I was able to find out that the rock formations are the Trona Pinnacles👍
Wow. This was pretty incredible.
I appreciate the effort you put in preserving work like this
I’m happy that you like it Logan! It was a pleasure to present his work to a greater audience

You're a good man, Sir. 👌☆☆☆☆☆
Thanks for the kind words!
@@ExpiredBren Well, it's the sort of thing that the best of us do. 😊
The desert rock formations are probably the Trona Pinnacles. Do an image search and you will likely see the same rock columns. Chris

3:50 did that baby dirty
I grew up in San Jose area and have eaten at that Der Weinerschnitzel with my parents.
That’s a pretty cool coincidence!
