Thought of this a while back as a great form of GPP, cardio and hypertrophy. Getting some extra back work on off days, plus the increased blood flow and grip work. I'd just pull tires, bricks, rope climbs, whatever. To me it's like the back and forearms version of sled drags. Great for GPP and cardio too if done in a circuit/density type fashion. It's great! Glad to see you featuring it. I know a robotics instructor who used to have a job pulling in boats and this man's arms and back were jacked AF so you know this stuff works.
Absolutely, pulling the rope works GREAT for GPP!! It's like a more upper body dominant sled drag. What you said reminds of me those jacked anime fishermen lol, but it's true. This will nicely grow back & arms.
@@AlexLeonidas Yes indeed. Hey Alex, what length of rope would you say is good for stuff like pulling tires and such? I'm planning on buying one for home.

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate this as well as the great advice you are sharing. I started working out at home this year and quit the gym. I am now subscribing to this channel. I like your rhetorical style when talking, mostly because it aims to get people EXCITED about tackling challenges. As I’ve said before, the real challenge for most lifters isn’t learning about hypertrophy: it’s finding ways to keep up that minimal level of excitement to keep going after year 1, year 2, etc. The channels who consistently release the “Why you’re not growing” content can get away with it because the majority of guys reading it have been working out 3-6 months. I don’t know a single person who’s lifted for at least three years who doesn’t look good with reasonably low bf%.

Potentially for a different biasing effect of the delts + upper back but do I think it's significant enough to be worth considering? I don't know. Even though I get zero pain from it, I'd rather do another variation by hitting a different angle of the AD press, using the swiss bar, dumbbells, or mixing in accommodating resistance. I feel like there's so many better vertical presses that BTN wouldn't be my first choice because honestly, there's nothing magical about it even though it is effective.
It's harder at the bottom, easier at the top, so if you have a bottom weakness, it good be good, it's also a better focus on the front delt, over the upper chest and triceps. Also good for shoulder mobility. Different muscles are worked with BTN pullups/pulldowns, and it has the increased mobility thing again. It doesn't have an increased injury risk unless you rush loading. i know this is an old video but those of you who are looking for a more affordable price for ropes consider using a nautical supply company. much cheaper than buying from a fitness oriented website or store. Man I wish I was your workout partner
Is the rope pulling machine good for gains
i know this is an old video but those of you who are looking for a more affordable price for ropes consider using a nautical supply company. much cheaper than buying from a fitness oriented website or store. I have a 2" thick 16ft rope for less than $70. rogue will charge you $60 for a small 5 ft length
Those pullovers look fantastic. Thoughts on doing them with a traditional rope handle?
That works too but the length will hit different
Hey Alex I wanted to know your opinion on variations and weight, such as on Monday I do regular pushups high reps, then on Wednesday I do weighted decline pushups, will I get optimal results switching things up like that long term?
i‘m not alex but this is actually exactly what he‘s propagating all the time. You are mixing volume and intensity & you switch up movements so you minimize overuse and override the law of accomodation. So i think yeah, this will get you good results, for optimal though depending on your needs you might need to add in more maybe even weights.
Rope climbing is the upper body of equivelant of sled push/pulls
Exactly right!
You rule. Also, I get that you are from Montreal right? Nice.
Correct homie!
@@AlexLeonidas great. Which part of it. I might meet you there since I'm in visit there.
Monke climb!
They don't call it monkey grip for nothing
What's your workout pattern for you biceps ( I am referring this to frequency and volume) ?????
Audience demanded question.
I wonder if we'll ever get to pole fitness as an underrated way for gains
