    I agree with you that digital calendars do not work very well. I would not say you're old school at all. I'd say, you use what works for you. And, I really love the discbound system. Although I do not use a planner, I do use notebooks. I have both the TUL and the ARC notebooks and I like different components of each and put them together in my own way. One thing I have to note is that neither system seems to have useful folders. I invented my own folders by modifying Arc sheet protectors.

    This is a really good review of the TUL organizer, thank you for sharing your experience. I can see myself easily getting out of sync with Outlook/Onenote.
    I am considering how effective the system would be for studying. I use the Cornel Notetaking system. From the review, I think this system will work better than standard notebooks.
    I do believe the real winner here is TUL for the high profit margin on the $40 hole punch and the fill pages reek of printer ink pricing models.

    Purchased the TUL Junior about a month ago and I'm wondering what took me so long to get this half-letter size planner. It is AWESOME!! Much easier to take with me than my Happy Planner. So now I'm setting this up as my on the go planner and will leave the HP for home use! Honestly, I only wish that it had a matching elastic strap closure around it but that's not an issue because I've already put a planner band on mine to close it. Great DISC system and I love the limited color options! Thank you Office Depot for providing quality products!!!!

    I used to be a daytimer user then tried Levenger (disk) then many of other companies started to copy Levenger disk formats. Wasn't much of a fan as pages fall out just buy turning the pages. Now I still use the Levenger briefcase (small pocket to carry index cards) just to jot notes and move them to my midori diary (yes I like the old fashioned writing on paper). Sometimes I just take a photo of my index cards and keep them in a folder on cellphone. I did buy the remarkable 2 just from your reviews. Hopefully that will ease me into carrying less paper around.

    Question - how do you record forward tasks (ticklers)? So lets say you need to call someone in 3 months time, where would that reminder go?

    I tried digital, but find I keep going back to paper calendar/planning. The disc bound is great for re-arranging and adding pages as needed. I use both dot grid and square grid paper in 5x8 size and make my own calendar/tracking system and tabs. I add work related policy & procedure copies as reference. I like sticky notes in my planner. I haven't been able to make digital work a well... and don't have to remember to charge my paper book.

      Aside from the recharging an electronic device, what issues are problems for you with digital systems?
      I’m developing an iOS/iPadOS/MacOS planner and doing research to see what causes others problems: what I see available now doesn’t work in my particular role where a daily plan doesn’t survive first contact with reality, and interruptions stack on top of each other with switching between tasks as normal.

    To my eye, the disc system requires more a la carte purchases in the way of covers, discs, and fill paper and or the hole punch (a punch which only appears to work with the disc system).
    Apart from the aesthetic and coporate gravitas of such a system, what would you say are the improvements over a standard 3 hole approach?

    Can you share your notes with a colleague in London at the click of a button?
    Can your overseas colleagues collaborate on your notes simultaneously?
    If you leave your Tul on a train, can you remotely lock it so that others can't see your notes?
    Can you search through your notes for a particular word / phrase?
    Or am I missing the point?

    • @lex7062
      @lex7062 Рік тому +2

      All valid points.
      Annoying bud valid.
      Privacy on paper it is as good as you will keep possession of it.
      If you are not capable of securing your physical planner than no other method will be good enough.
      There are many what if, but one thing it is certain… at first all projects were written down.
      Honesty your questions are about Disaster recovery, real time collaboration, and security.
      I do not think this is the right post for you.
      This is for people that want to get more efficient at organizing, and away from regular binders.
      One question for you.
      Can you access your notes if you are out of electricity?
      We kind of taking this for granted.
      P.S.
      Yes I can share my notes with my colleagues overseas with click of a button.
      I can use Lens, take pictures or scan it, and email it to them.

    • @ironscalp2241
      @ironscalp2241 Рік тому +1

      @@lex7062 Hm... The electricity point is a good one... Plus I'm less likely to review electronic notes once they're written.
      I say this because I have about 200 physical journals and I'm constantly swaying from electronic to manual... So maybe the answer is Do it Both Ways (Journals for personal stuff and Electronic for work).

      @@ironscalp2241 this is precisely how I am using this system. I was trying to get away from regular binders. Now I use the 1’ for planner, and 1’1/2 for the binder. This helps me plan and focus on the immediate projects. Time will tell if this system is better than regular binders.
