    I like that you tell both Standard Measurements and Metric. I think the density of this brownie would be much better than cake. Thanks for posting.

      @BakeLikeAPro  7 років тому +1

      Hi Bindu, did you pre-heat your oven ? did you make sure that both upper and lower heating elements were "ON" during the baking process ? Do you have an oven thermometer that you can test your oven with ( to see if it gives you the correct temp ? )
      and lastly, where did you have the cake located in the oven ? what rack position. YOu see, without any real info from you, for me on my end it's quite a guessing game. I'd like to help you more, so you can give me some ideas when you wish. 😊

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  7 років тому +1

      #2 - quickly - I think your oven is too hot. I would invest in an expensive oven thermometer ( u can find them locally or on Amazon online ) they are about $10 so very inexpensive. They are all metal so you just put into the oven and it will tell you how your oven is working. IF your cakes are always burning on the top - the easiest thing to do is lower the rack in your oven so it is at the very bottom, and try it like this. IF the bottom of the cake is now burning, you may use 2 baking pans under your cake - so just put your cake onto a second pan, and this will help protect the bottom of the cake from direct heat from the bottom of the oven.

    • @binduviswambharan2210
      @binduviswambharan2210 7 років тому +2

      Im baking in the panasonic convection oven model NN CT651M which has only one rack. There are only 2 heating element one on top and one at the back both are on bottom of the cake is perfect. Everywhere it is perfect except for the top. Taste is also good. Not too much burnt but a little burnt and crispy. I havent measured temperature so far but will buy one today itself. Thanks for your reply and the time you spent to reply. Also i hv preheated the oven at 180 degree till beep sound comes.

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  7 років тому +1

      I didn't realize you are using a small oven. I always just assume everyone is using a full sized oven. This can play into it, as the area ( the volume ) of the oven is very condensed so heat can be more intense in a smaller space. That said, and from what you describe, I would drop the temp in your oven by 25 degrees F next time and see how it goes. Some will also put a bit of tin foil ( aluminium foil ) over the top of their cake once the cake has formed a skin ( brown on top ) - this will protect the top of the cake from direct heat from the upper area of your oven.

      I put this recipe in my book and will make it soon. Looks yummy! I love lemon desserts. ❤
      I sometimes cook in my smaller Oster oven so thank you for this information. It's smaller than a full size oven but large enough to cook a full size pizza! It's really an oversized toaster oven.
      I also recently saw a youtube video on how to calibrate a full size oven, in case this helps your readers. :)

      Hi mystique, try putting your spatula in a glass of water, then spread the batter. Keep repeating the process... you'll see this works really well. I hope this helps. So to clarify, wet the spatula, ( don't wipe it off ) and now quickly wipe your batter, it will work like magic.

    Hi there. I’m from the uk and we don’t use cup measurements so I was wondering if you could let me know in grams what the ingredients are or fluid ounces. Also is all purpose flour self raising or plain flour. Would absolutely love to try this yummy looking recipe. Thank you so much

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  4 роки тому +1

      Hi there, I never measure in fluid ounces. Every person I know from the UK uses grams to measure ( it's really the most accurate way to measure ingredients ) I'm surprised you don't. I do include gram measurements though. The flour I use is called plain flour, where I live it's called "all purpose" flour ,but it's exactly the same type of flour. Here is an updated recipe of this video here: ua-cam.com/video/ywhcdDwJFq0/v-deo.html ✅ Sorry I can't help you more, I wish I could.

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  4 роки тому

      Hi again ! Thanks for replying. 99% of people will ask a question and never reply. I'm located in Canada and we use the British Imperial system of measurements here, so our cup is based on 250 ml ( 8 oz ) So a "cup" of flour = 250 ml by volume. For the lemon juice for example, it's a 1/4 cup, so it's easy to do. ( 250 divided by 4 = 62.5 ml ) Same thing for the oil.... 1/3 cup = 83 ml. By the way, all our measuring cups that you purchase here ( have both ml markings on them, as well as 1/8, 1/4, 1/3, /1/2 and 1 cup markings on them ) Canada switched over to the Metric system in the 1970s. That said, I'd say 3/4 of the population or more still use cups and tablespoons as their measurement. I don't see anything showing it's slowing down either, because I use both, and so my kids are using both systems..... maybe one day it will 100% switch to the Metric system but who knows LOL.

      When you bake a cake, or cupcakes or anything in an oven you must use bake mode. This means both upper and lower heating elements ( what you term rods ) must be ON. This provides uniform heating and bakes the cake correctly. I hope this helps you 👍😁

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  8 років тому

      Hi Perla, a 1-1/2 teaspoons will change it quite a bit, also, you can use baking soda, about a teaspoon. The soda chemically reacts with the lemon juice in the recipe and will make it rise.

    I never try a new recipe for guests prior to trying it ahead of time. But not this time... I need a desert right away. I followed the recipe exactly... only one small modification: I added the zest from the fresh lemon (the one I juiced) to the batter. I baked it in a PURE CONVECTION oven, so I lowered the temperature by 25 degrees (as recommended by my oven mfr). The baking time was perfect, and my finished baked product looked identical to your video (lightly golden brown).
    I used ONLY the original 2T lemon juice for the icing, and didn't add any extra to thin it. Yes, It was on the thick side, but it was smooth, spread on the brownies like a champ, and it held in place perfectly. The top surface dried/hardened perfectly, developing an light shell and remained moist just beneath. The brownies cut up beautifully... very dense with minimal crumbs. The taste was over-the-top decadent! One word: OUTRAGEOUS!

      Hi Joan, I'm sure you could. Splenda ? I'd never put that into my body, but if this is what you like instead of using a natural ingredient then that's up to you. As for amounts I don't know exactly. Remember also that the amount of sugar is part of the recipe. Splenda is 10x more powerful than sugar, so make sure you don't use the same amount.
