@@HarmonGarage when you look in the bed of the truck close to the cab on the driver side there’s a bar that goes from the bed to the side rail. On my 1986 C20, there was a vacuum operated trailer hook up attached to that bar.
I rescued a 73 swb Cheyenne. Just put motor in getting it running and driving this weekend. Love the content. If you still have give away t shirts I'd like a chance. If not you're still aces for sharing your knowledge and time. Thank you
As ive said me too i had L6 square body trucks and honestly if I had another one I would leave it that way and I used to have a maroon and frost gloss white 74 chevy Cheyenne super c10 long bed originally a big block 454 manual shift column 3spd transmission truck, I put a th350 turbo automatic transmission a long tailshaft and modified the standard shift linkages, and it was a textured roof but maroon carmine red ,i put a 74 low mileage 250 Inline 6.... I have pictures of the truck on my Facebook page... and the Cheyenne super and Silverado the outer lip of the grille has a bright chrome trim ring. Headlight bezels are usually painted in the center either argent or black on the Cheyenne trucks
Nice truck that 73 is and can’t win them all !!! Will be a great truck when done wish mine was one of the 70’s models like them a lot. I have a 68 c10 short bed in pieces makes me want to work on it watching you.
The 73 has to be called “Kermit”. Also, 73 didn’t come with drip rails. So, at some point in 74 or later, someone carried it to a Chevy dealer to get them installed. Love what you do keeping these old trucks from getting crushed. I’ve got an 87 V10 I restored but I can’t afford to buy em all!🤣🤣🤣
Well Aaron I believe that dually will b a nice show truck for Norman Ok can't wait to see it n person and watch the build hey I like the green 73 also I had a yellow 73 back n the 90s but hey it is gna b a nice build also can't wait so till next time 👍👍👍👍
Burnt orange is another not very often seen in the round eye square body trucks but unlike the green it was seen alot in 73-76 trucks but after that until they started the Santa Fe tan and light camel paint scheme the bronze metallic and light tan or yellow in like 76 and it's close i guess but not the same as the burnt orange color of 73-75
It was a great effort! I am looking forward to seeing the build on this 292 engine and the very special 73 Cheyenne. This video will be the start of great content to come! Thanks for your efforts to keep the videos coming.....
That old 73 C10 came from the neighboring county where I live, it is a small world. It keeps back firing like it is firing on an open valve which is a timing issue, It may have jump time, just one tooth will do it. Just my thought on it. Hang in, you haven't quit, just delayed! Enjoyed the video as usual.
I went through a similar ordeal when I tried to get a title for my old Nova. Bought it from a machine shop owner who claimed to have a lien on it, but the DMV said he didn't. It was before they invented internet so I had to send hand written certified letters and release of interest forms to the owner and lien holder they had on file. Both were long gone so the post office returned the letters to me with reject stamps on them. Then I had to show the letters to the DMV to get the title. The whole process took about 2 weeks but it was well worth it to me.
Yes I may not be a big fan of short bed trucks myself but the 72 c30 short bed with the 60 Chevy modified fenders to keep it dually sounds sweet sir...
And was your truck originally a 6 lug 2wd truck my 74 Cheyenne super was but I think it was because it was a big block truck with a 12 bolt 4.56 open diff rear long legs for the 250 and mine was hei because it was built in the last half of 74 my uncle gave me the 74 chevy L6,I unfortunately ended up getting rid of the truck because in 1996 I couldn't find the replacement rotors and brake hardware that I needed to have the brakes as well as the fuel system completely rebuilt...kinda miss it and it had several patch panels because it had repaired somewhat for a decent driver.. and it had the 74 chevy 10 owners manual but if you need one you can probably find one online
I bought a automatic transmission tilt steering column and put my truck steering wheel on it because it had a aluminum trim on the bottom of the center of the steering wheel in detail groove..
Aaron, my hats off to you. I truly don't know how you do it, you keep coming up with one killer project after another!!.. The show truck is gonna be one bad ass moe-sheen!!
Yeah, with only 5 cylinders it should show some kind of life and I feel like the backfiring points to a timing issue. You mentioned you had an HEI to go in it maybe swap it out. That will answer the question about the distributor gears. Usually even a worn-out GM motor will come back to life with fire and fuel! It probably had the last person that worked on it stumped also and that's the reason it sat in the field.
I think it was a 74 or 75 3/4-ton Chevy van with a 292 and a 350 turbo That I was driving for a couple of years in the 80's It developed a problem when it got warmed up it would die and would not start again until it cooled off, we found the coil was causing the problem. I would maybe consider that if i didn't see fire jumping like it did. You may need to start swapping parts to figure this one out!
Pickle seems to be a good fit considering the color and the engine dilemma lol. Good to see a straight 6 being worked on. Gives me motivation to get that 56 going.
Nothing wrong with that at all! It's gonna look killer. Not sure if you follow Cory Wheat Customs but he and his wife Hannah built a 55 or 56 short bed dually. It's super sweet. Can't wait to see your projects done. I'm a sucker for these old chevy trucks.
Never saw the option YG3 great find. My color code is strange on my 1984 GMC. The 64 color code in the book is completely different. Its factory pant even pulled the carpet its good.
I absolutely love these trucks. I realize this post is a year old. But I’m wondering if you’ve done work on it, and if it would be coming up for sale. I’d be interested in more information if you decide to entertain selling this truck. Thank you
Man that is a weird option for the roof. You can come up with some rare gems! Lol! And you didn’t fail, you just ran out of time. You don’t fail until you give up completely. Those 292s are tough, it’ll run, it’s just being a green meanie! 👍
I'm a fan of the 292 but 6 cylinders are fickle because of the firing order! Maybe chain has jumped, or someone messed with the distributor location or even a bad distributor. These motors make plenty of low-end torque It will not be a speed demon but will be a good motor for the dually. Going to be a conversation starter people will wonder if it's what came in the truck stock.
I thought about jumping time but they have gears and not a chain. But the gears could be messed up. And I checked the distributor and firing order at least 5 times
If anyone hasn't told you the 73-76 maybe 77 Cheyenne super Cheyenne and Silverado aluminum panel top wood grain door panels and the matching aluminum lower trim strip for the steering wheel and the dash pad that I know were not reproduced so they are a bit hard to find i ended up getting a gray set of custom deluxe ones with only the center strip of the woodgrain aluminum panel that didn't match the steering wheel or the dash because someone had sold the door panels out of the 74 chevy c10 Cheyenne super before i had even got the truck and the one nice set i had found my uncle's buddy had wanted $550 for a used set so yeah it got the gray custom deluxe 74 door panels from the junkyard
Check the vin on the dully it looks like a 71. The only difference in 71-72 that I know of is the mirror placement. If it’s in the top of the cab it’s a 71. If it’s on the windshield it should be a 72.
Hey bud you definitely worked hard on trying to get the motor to start. Awesome work don’t be hard on yourself. You will get that motor to definitely start after removing it from the truck. I can’t wait to see more videos of the Cheyenne and the videos of your project truck for 2024.
Two other ways to tell the Cheyenne or Silverado in part of 73-74/75 Early 75 the black inside the headlight bezels and the obvious amber park lights but I actually am referring to the chrome outer lip on the 73-74 Chevy grille the custom and custom deluxe trucks do not have it, and they usually don't have the black inside the center of the headlight bezels 74 being my favorite year of round eye square body ever since I owned my 74 chevy c10 Cheyenne super 2wd long bed carmine red and white i honestly just thought the roof was rusted for atleast 3 years that i had the truck, until I changed the rear window to a sliding rear window,, and also the door weatherstrip and found carmie red paint in the door jambs so the roof wasn't rusted, and the same black as the roof on the cab under the gasket for the rear window and i just sanded it all off and Gray primer the top of the cab so it didn't look rusted anymore i was going to rhino line it back black and told the kid i traded the truck to but he was talking about grey priming the entire truck and sealing it and leaving it that way
I inherited a 1973 Cheyenne super 10 with 29.000 original mi 454 it is red with wood grain my uncle bought it brand new in 1973 from a dealership down the road here in Oklahoma he passed away from Alzheimer's 2 years ago I got it and a 1959 Pontiac that has about 72.000 4 doors it is green and white and a bunch of other stuff including properties and farm equipment this pickup still has the original price tag that was in the window he just never would drive it he said it was so bad on gas he put it in the garage and very seldom took it he also told me if it got hit it would blow up I did have to put tires on it the original tires from the dealership was still on it weather cracked but they look brand new I took it to coffee and cars and you would not believe the people that tried to buy that pickup form me it was definitely the star of that car show it has every piece of paper that come with it pickup it's a long bed but she is beauty
That bar in the bed on the drivers side looks like the 1 that was in my 86. It was for trailer breaks. I wonder if that was a camper special.
I’m not even sure what you are talking about, I will have to go look tomorrow
@@HarmonGarage when you look in the bed of the truck close to the cab on the driver side there’s a bar that goes from the bed to the side rail. On my 1986 C20, there was a vacuum operated trailer hook up attached to that bar.

I can't wait to see when u get one of urs done
Me either. Lol
The way it is galloping sounds like compression problem just not enough there to pop it off
I think that’s part of it plus the stuck valve
I have been waiting for this truck and info keep up the great work
Thank you
when you said leave it a dually I said out loud...hell yea 😄
It should be cool
I like the plans for the c30 except for the wrong stepside fenders…
They aren’t wrong. They are the ones I want. I have a set of the same year range fenders but I like these better
I should have said wrong year fenders…if that’s what you want then that’s all that matters…
I get it
I know I keep saying the same thing but keep up the good work
Thank you John
I,m 67 and never heard of that RPO either…
It’s a unique one
Shoot some starter fluid in that 6!
I did. Still didn’t go
I have a 1968 International with the same painted vinyl roof, but have never seen a Chevy with one. Good find.
Thanks. Wish I could find out more about it

Cool
I'm a sucker for inline 6'S... Glad to see one on this video. Keep up the good work!
Thank you
Cool... Just got my 80 running after sitting 27 years. Runs good
Good deal.
Nice truck that 73 is and can’t win them all !!! Will be a great truck when done wish mine was one of the 70’s models like them a lot. I have a 68 c10 short bed in pieces makes me want to work on it watching you.

Kermit is very fitting. Yea I can’t afford them either. I usually get them and just hang onto them forever
@@HarmonGarage Also, make sure you go to C10 revival in NC this fall!! Look it up! I’ll be there!
