I'm an owner from recently purchased Acer Nitro 5 with specs 17,3 FHD IPS 144hz 1080p, 5800H, 32GB RAM (16+16) and RTX3080 so I thought I might share some insight to whomever has second thoughts about purchasing this particular model. Currently I'm only playing RD2 on ultra with anti aliasing options switched off at convenient 60 fps, give or take. GPU has taken up around 5GB of VRAM out of 8gb available. If you push any other settings fps will instantly drop because you are POWER RESTRICTED. GPU to 100watts while the CPU at 25watts with usage usually less than 50%. The CPU runs around 90 degrees with 25 max wattage while GPU runs cooler at around 70-75 degrees with 100% usage and 100 watt usage. This is achieved on balance mode on battery settings and auto mode with fans. At some places game uses up to 18gb of system RAM but it's anywhere between 12 and 18 gigs. Looking at Legion PRO 5 with the same CPU and RTX 3070 pumped with 140 watt with even better thermals makes me wonder if I made the right purchase...it's got nothing to do that I'm not satisfied with this laptop but kinda been wondering If could have paid less for even more performance...I paid around 2000 euros for this model and legions with rtx 3070 and 5800h started popping out for around 1800 euros (and that is with even faster nvme drive and 165hz QHD screen) edit* 20.2.2022 so I've been using my first nitro for some time now and I can safely say this laptop has somewhat thermal issues while fans are on balanced mode from playing rdr2 on ultra settings 1080p. While it doesn't throttle after prolonged gaming I would still like to see lower temperatures. On max spin fan noise is just dreadful for your ears. I plan on solving this by buying thermaltake 20rgb cooling pad. Reading comments from other nitro and predator users on acer forums, I came across ryzen controller app that allows for various performance tweaks around your CPU/GPU...and what I've have done so far is manually decreased CPU TDP from 25 (which is default) to 10 and max temp 85 to 65 degrees without any performance loss! All 8 cores are clocked around 2800mhz and GPU around 1545 mhz but this can vary depending on location on map. Worth mentioning this also allows battery not to drain while gaming, yes you heard that right, in some scenarios power from outlet just won't cut it. Interestingly enough, the GPU temperature now close follows CPU all the while fan noise is acceptable. Still, take all of this with a grain of salt, fps tends to drop from 60ties to 40ties while in city as CPU needs from juice from the power outlet which I have restricted. It's not ideal but in my case definitely worth the trouble.
@@canerozler well, im stuck with nitro for another 4 5 years because of how companies market their laptops todays, companies should properly advertise type of ram memory ( rank 1Rx16 is worse than 1Rx8, also must be dual channel instead of one slot with 16gb) and tdp of their graphics because rtx3080 is not the same in acer, asus, lenovo etc which is straightforward misleading and such practice should not be allowed. If i could turn back time would definitely opt for legion 5 pro with 3070, better thermals, TDP, screen and price overall. 360hz in nitro doesnt make any sense, maybe for windows and youtube scrolling but in games, dunno which games will push 360 fps to fully utilize 360hz screen
@@lovroturibak3434 But i searched about all the scores on benchmarks. 3070 with more watt is almost the same as 3080 maxQ and in time I think with the updates it can change. 17 inch is pretty cool also and maybe it has a better cooling performance. What do you think
@@canerozler that is exactly my point! 3070 is the same with more watts as 3080 only capped at 100wats. Nice sneak peak look at the Nitro 5 Gordon 🥰👍🏆. It’s great to see recent performance enhancements on the last couple generations of laptops for both productivity and gaming 🥰🏆. It appears that laptops are becoming more the way of times to get hold of a good gaming setup (yes, cost isn’t as good on the laptop vs pc) and allows you to work hard and play hard too. Looking forward to the full review.
I bought the Acer Nitro 5 with a I7 11370H and GTX 1650 a few weeks ago brand new and it was a brick, it would not turn on. I Googled the problem and came across the power connecter issue. You have to push the power plug into the rear of the laptop very hard until you hear a click and hey presto! It worked! Then I was thinking why didnt the battery turn the laptop on? The battery was completely discharged! Then I checked the build date and it was manufactured only around 2 months before I purchased it. There should have been even a small battery charge surely? Unbelievable. Anyway it's working great now and so is the battery. Acer, you need to do better.
I have a Predator 300 I bought a few years ago with the 1060 graphics. The computer will still run modern titles on high, but if there ever is a day I need to upgrade I’m glad that this option is available.
Something is seriously wrong with these Time Spy Graphics scores: GTX 1650 maxQ gets 8773, 2060 maxQ gets 9264 and RX 6800m 8980 points? Like what the hell?
@@micaheiber1419 Not really, these scores are plain wrong. gtx 1650 maxQ should net about 3000 points gtx 2060 - 6000-6500 points RX 6800m - about 11000 - 12000 Obviously power limits and cooling can make a really big difference, but there are simply no laptops with either 1650 or 2060 that could reach scores stated. To be honest, I didn't look, but it's pretty rare to find laptops that bypass the IGP these days. Some will offer the ability to swtich it on or off but most laptops are designed for battery life first.
this is the lowest priced laptop with rtx 3080. too low price makes me suspect this laptop is somehow defective or has major flaws in thermal, design or screen. i usually go for major brands like MSI, asus or alienware. is this reliable? only 2099 usd now at newegg;)

I have this already 4 years before. It's one the best acer laptop. Better than helios series.
7:58 How is a GTX 1650 (Asus Flow X13) pushing better benchmarks than a RTX 3070 (Acer Nitro 5, 15.6)? Am I missing something?

How was it
I still want a DVD or bluray drive in a laptop. Why arent they made anymore?
I know a giant laptop 18" that has bluray, msi titan gt80 or gt83. Buuuut expensive.
I have the acer nitro 5 with the same cpu, but the tdp of my cpu only runs up to 35 watts any tips?
should you play with charger or not ?
To play fps games (call of Duty Vanguard) is better rysen7 with 165hz display or rysen9 with 144hz?
165hz
does it have issues running linux mint ?
what if 3060 QHD same cpu , but only $1199 cad? consider better deal?
