I can never stop thinking about the people that used to live in these abandoned places and what happened to them. Like what was their life like? What did they do for a living? Why did they leave their house with all of their things still in it? It boggles my mind on why they would leave such personal stuff like pictures and things like that. Its quite sad to see.
I would bet most of these people got hit pretty hard during the Recession of '08. Europe got hit must worse than the states: as the US's ability to print money saved it. In effect, the United States exported its inflation.
i saw an abandoned house in indiahoma OK a few months back, all i could think of hos how beautiful the house was (It was a 2 bed one bath house) and the way it was set up reminded me of where i used to live as a little kid. i saw pictures of the previous owners covered in these humongous black widow eggs. after a careful dust, it was a family of 3. such a sad thing to think of is what couldve happened to them, or why they let such a beautiful house go to waste to black widows (it was infested)
I'm similar. I think sometimes it is probably a family that lived there and eventually the children all grow up and move out leaving only a married couple. Eventually one of them dies leaving a lonely single person who eventually either dies in the home, or is shipped off to an old age home to die, their former home forgotten by the family. Rather sad really. I often use these videos as a reminder not to worry about gathering up too many good as someday I will be gone and they may end up like this, just rotting alone in a dusty home.
@@NeilRoy damn. i never thought of it that way. what i try to do is live while i can, i explore these houses and i always wonder different situations. what if it was a forgotten vacation home or possibly an old relatives home they wanted to keep in the family. one ghost town i explored had a population of 1. and the person living there was the mayor of the once booming town. he said all the houses had owners. he allowed me to explore them as long as he tagged along. the houses were full of belongings and untouched. it was perfect. i asked why they would leave it like that, and he told me something i would never forget. "When the town went bankrupt due to lack of income, the people who left kept their homes because they grew up in this town, and wanted a piece of it in the family." that stuck to me and every time i think about it, it leaves chills and a sense of pride for what i have. it was a great day
Same, tbh. I see videos like these, and the places that still have stuff all I can think is why did they leave it? What really happened? And ones like the first house in this video I always feel like they just disappeared, those who originally lived there or owned it.
The first place was tragically sad but simultaneously awesome to see.
The second house was incredibly beautiful, it's a shame all new houses now are done in the modern sleek style, I'd love to live somewhere as detailed as this!
Well, I mean, that's not exactly an ordinary, middle class house. If you have enough relative wealth to have lived in that house back then, then you have enough wealth to commission a new house in that style today.

I love those old houses. Wish I had the money to buy one and restore it to it's former beauty.
They just don't build them like that anymore when they do make a modern home in the same style it usually looks like a cheap knock off.
@@M.Boatwright I think there is a chance you could get such a building for a very small price and invest the rest in renovation.
On German license plates the first letters are a format/abbreviation of the region were the owner came from. After a quick search I found the family must have come from Heidelberg, it's in southwest Germany near France.
and by the blue plaque you can also make a guess as to when this plate was last used - and therefore likely for how long it has been sitting there. The hexagonal plaque indicates when the next check for exhaust-limits is due and its color matched the TÜV-plaques that indicate the next check-interval. The hexagonal plaque, however, was discontinued in 2010. The color blue indicates one of three years as the colors cycle every six years. The precise year can be seen in the very middle of the plaque, but the video resolution makes it very difficult and the tilt of the camera angle towards the plaque doesn't help. The years in question are 1996, 2002, and 2008. So the plaque would display either 96, 02, or 08 - depending on which cycle the plaque was issued in.
I tried with maximum resolution in the video and then magnifying the picture. Of the two numbers in the middle one is very slim compared to the other - therefore it is very likely to be a plaque with the 02 on it. This means whichever car it was mounted to has to have been either decommissioned or given a different plate around that time.

I absolutely adore the French / Rococo style. My heart's breaking for these houses 😭 If I ever won money I'd buy somewhere like that and make it a mini Versailles.

I've mentioned on a few of BSF's videos how it is truly mind boggling how some abandoned places are nearly in pristine condition and others are utterly destroyed. This is a wonderful video.

There are three houses in Gowen on a hilltop abandoned in the 80's, nothing damaged or taken out. It"s like the residents all died or left in a day.
If I have the money, I would definitely buy these mansions and renovate them back to its glory days.
Bauche & co, French maker of safes often disguised safes as furniture, painting faux wood or even building a cabinet around them. I can’t believe those safes are just sitting there.

Looks like maybe a elderly person with grand kids lived there and may have passed away. Idk why the family wouldn't move in and take care of the place.

The German license plate originates from HD which stands for Heidelberg, Rhein-Neckar-Kreis - I grew up there. I suspect the first home is in the Alsace region which isn't too far away from Heidelberg in Germany.
It feels like the first house, the family must've been in a hurry or couldn't afford to live there. I don't know. I'm so curious about it. The second house was was amazingly beautiful. New subscriber here. Great video guys.

If you can afford to live in a mansion you probably don't have to worry about that.

You guys should check out the abandoned Bugatti factory in Italy.
The last time I heard about the second home, it was supposedly sold, locked and alarmed... If this information was given to try and deter people from coming in, that (sadly) didn't work.
I'm glad I could see the interior of the second house more in detail. Most photoshoots I've seen of this place kept showing the same pictures of the light pit and the marble bathroom over and over, you'd think that is all there is to see in this house. I don't see the point of coming into a place to shoot what has already been shot 15 times before. What I love is seeing the little details, like the safe, the trims and the old light switch you showed.
The first house had some nice stuff in it, but it was lacking a soul. The furniture and scarce decor seemed arranged exactly like the decor of a hotel - a place you stay in, not a place you live in. Only the photos show that it had a past. At least that's the feeling I got.
Wow, those old photographs are amazing. Makes me wonder who they were.
I'm really glad you don't give the locale of these places. They'd be ruined in weeks (days really, knowing people 😝)

Finally. An urban exploring video! Those homes were very beautiful for their age.
The first home was interesting in that some rooms are nearly perfectly arranged while others were nearly stuffed full. Maybe some rooms were arranged for photo shoots or short video clips?

I have so much admiration for the respect you give to these old places, you always show appreciation for the unique features, not to mention the craftsmanship that makes these places so amazing. The first place was surprising that so many items were left untouched by others who had been in the house; and in the second, it was the stained glass that blew me away, so beautiful. So hoping these gorgeous houses are renovated so others can continue to enjoy them, it would be such a shame for them to rot away.
Y’all are the reason I go explore abandoned places I use all the safety stuff and it’s the most fun I have

it's so nice to see that the first mansion isn't really vandalized. that's the best category of lost places, when everything is still on it's place like the owner just left to get some cigarettes but never came back.

Here in America, the French Second Empire mode of architecture as you see in the second manor, was popular only during the mid 1800's to about 1880. Because this is in France, the time this style of home would have been built is broader.

Well, save your money. If the stock market tanks you will be able to pick these places up for penny's on the dollar. But it will be the upkeep which will kill you.

The first house was awesome, but left not so long ago I guess. The license plate you found is an EU license plate, which has been used in Germany since 1994. Never before. Awesome video!

This is up there amongst my favourite of your explores. The little known about the residents and intact nature of the house’s contents makes it so fascinating. Great video.

I really like this home. It was filled with good antique furniture and had a few things that I have NEVER seen before like that odd light switch and a safe that had 4 dials when most just have one. Good vid and looking forward to the next one.

I love to imagine the radio on & the Kids taking a bath & mom making breakfast while dad makes the beds & does laundry (lool) singing and laughs of happy children.

i feel that way about the desecrated Indigenous land everywhere, trampled on by "progress" and colonialism. Thousands of years of heritage and we piss on it daily.

It seems to me the nice rooms have been staged that way by other explorers to take photos.
The quality of the craftmanship in both these mansions is exceptional. They have stood the test of time.
The first one evokes the feelings of abandonment and sadness and questions, which usually accompany homes which still have possessions inside.

That second house was absolutely stunning! I LOVE that foyer! It's a shame to see it in that state, though. It would be interesting to learn why such beautiful homes are left abandoned for so long. Is the local economy not so great so people with the wealth needed to use such a house aren't around? Are there ghost stories keeping buyers away?

This always gets to me, and leaves me with soo many questions about how and why these gorgeous Manors and the belonging left behind. I sincerely hope someone comes along to rescue and bring them back to life before they’re lost forever to vandals, thieves and time.

The bedrooms in the first home so neat and untouched by vandalism. The second home looked very ornate. Surprising to see people touring in there.
clean shoes and (a) bird dropped OFF PURPLE flowers in the BATHROOM. LoL!
It's crazy how much stuff is in these houses untouched some of these antique stuff has such value to other people and to see it go to waste it's saddening hopefully someone will buy the properties and restore it along with the belongings

Second one was beautiful from the size and detail, but the furnishing and stuff in the first one was just a whole other level, insane!
